  1. What a good idea. The Number Eight would then be an ....... APPENDIX.
  2. Oh - for pete's sake. OK - it WAS mentioned - but SURELY that is GOOD for Speedway in general. You know - PUBLICITY and all that. Spreading the word is important and ANY mention of the Speedway Press is a good thing in my book. Honestly - what will people find to complain about next.
  3. Exterminate, Exterminate, Exterminate, Exterminate Kevlars. A double whammy - no Tactical Rides in 1958 either - Bring it on.
  4. Black Leathers and Racejackets for me - with a 'proper' Diamond on it.
  5. It seems like an opportunity missed to me. There will be some reason no doubt - but - I can't think what.
  6. Thoroughly enjoyed myself last night***. Good Speedway, Good Companions at the Track, Good Weather (if a bit COLD for my taste - brrrrrr) it's really great to get back in the groove again. *** Apart from the Tactical Rides Tsunami and Halifaxtiger.
  7. Can't wait. I think it will be WOOLLY Hat instead of Aussie Hat today. It's lovely outside here in Sunderland sunshine and everything - unfortunately it is also b****y COLD. Let's hope for a safe Meeting for Riders of BOTH Teams.
  8. Just received my Copy this morning. Obviously I haven't read it yet but it IS a beautifully produced Magazine. I am so impressed that, as I only ordered the first Issue for a trial - I intend to sign up for the rest of the year - and that is after only looking through the Magazine. I will Post later on what I think of the Content/Journalism - BUT - on the face of it, 'Inside Speedway' is off to a terrific start. Looking at it - this Magazine is not, in my opinion, a rival to 'Speedway Star' it will complement it. If I may draw a comparison 'Inside Speedway' reminds me a little of the old 'Speedway Express'.
  9. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Don't give Philip ideas.
  10. Yes - I know. I always see and get spoken to by Joan English at the Track - I just think it is GREAT that this happens. Certainly at Newcastle - it makes you feel wanted and very much part of things.
  11. I have my views and you have yours BW - it seems 'ne'er the twain shall meet'. I do respect your opinion - I just don't agree with you. I wouldn't like to fall out over it though.
  12. The Top Eight from one year by being given the Eight Places in the following year are keeping out (possibly) someone who may have Qualified through Qualifying Rounds. I CAN see where you are coming from, but using the previous Season's Top Eight is wrong because I work in the Current Season. Last Season is past and gone - finished. A NEW GP Series SHOULD mean NEW Qualifying Rounds for ALL GP places. That way - NEW Season = NEW GP Year. If Gollob, Pedersen et al miss out, then I am sorry, but that is TOUGH. Speedway is a Sport. Sport is about Winning and Losing.
  13. They have GIVEN the following year's Top Eight places to the Previous years Top Eight finishers. That doesn't seem like Qualifying to me BW. Sorry.
  14. I'm still here Oldace. I don't consider my views on the GP Qualification System to be "nonsense". I don't agree with your arguments but I do not say they are "nonsense". I have just demonstrated how ELEVEN of the Riders in the GPs are pre-selected. The Top Eight ARE selected for the following year whether you like it or not. My sole argument is that ALL Riders should go through Qualifying Meetings and not be there as a RIGHT. Wild Cards - they are only selected to keep the hosting Country/Track happy. Finally the Nationality Card. Tai Woffinden gets his place because he is BRITISH - some Qualification Method that. From the start he has made in New Zealand it looks like he is worth his place - but that does not make the way he was selected RIGHT. Whilst I don't agree with you over this - I WILL listen to your arguments and I WILL try to understand where you are coming from. What I will NOT do is accuse you of talking nonsense.
  15. Speedway Star IS a great Magazine and serves Speedway well. I just preferred the journalistic content all those years ago. There were more 'Stories' about the Riders, Promoters, Teams etc. than there is nowadays. I do agree that we must progress - but - in my candid opinion we have LOST a lot in doing so. These days the journalism is usually down to someone at the Track banging some Notes in to Speedway Star. These are usually quite biased, and tell the Speedway Supporter, mostly but not always, what he already knows.
  16. So are the Top Eight (Picked) Wild Cards (Picked) Nationality Fiddle (Picked) Eleven Riders PICKED so far - any advance on that?
  17. ................. of course - Favouritism, Nationality and Selection is FAR better than Qualifying Rounds isn't it?
  18. NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO,!!!!!
