Speedway Star IS a great Magazine and serves Speedway well. I just preferred the journalistic content all those years ago. There were more 'Stories' about the Riders, Promoters, Teams etc. than there is nowadays. I do agree that we must progress - but - in my candid opinion we have LOST a lot in doing so. These days the journalism is usually down to someone at the Track banging some Notes in to Speedway Star. These are usually quite biased, and tell the Speedway Supporter, mostly but not always, what he already knows.

Desperately bad News about Andrew. I thought he looked good yesterday. Let's hope that he gets well soon. Hopefully he will be able to resume his career. I thought he was a super signing for us.

I didn't know that - but - very sensible. :approve:

I attended the Official Practice at Newcastle Speedway's Brough Park on Sunday and I have rarely been so cold in my life. Imagine my surprise then, when I went to the Track Shop to get a couple of Bovrils, I was given my Drinks and I offered my money for payment and was told "That is quite all right the Hot Drinks are Free of Charge". I would like to THANK the Newcastle Promotion for this. On a day as cold as Sunday they probably could have made a real killing on Hot Drinks - BUT - they looked after the welfare of their Supporters (Customers) instead. I think that this was a tremendous gesture in these tight Financial times. I, for one, will always be grateful for this effort. Once again - Many Thanks Newcastle Speedway. Oh!!! - The Drink warmed me up beautifully too.

Speedway On Eurosport

BUT crucially, in my opinion, Eurosport showed EVERYTHING including the Presentation at the end. With SKY's coverage they rarely showed the Presentation and one was left with a sense of anticlimax. -

So basically we are saying that Ward got himself in to difficulty and, because Iversen 'laid down' his Bike to avoid hitting him, he should be excluded (I don't go along with this Disqualified rubbish either). What about another scenario - same accident Ward falls. Iversen doesn't 'Lay Down', ploughs in to him and puts him in Hospital with broken bones. I know that in that scenario Ward would be excluded for causing the stoppage. To me - in the actual Meeting Ward caused Iversen to 'Lay Down' his Bike - ergo - Ward caused the stoppage. The action taken by the Referee on Saturday Evening is hardly going to encourage Riders to 'Lay Down' their Machines - is it? -
National/premier League Riders Nationality.
The White Knight replied to Mad Potter 2's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Well I don't HT. I doubt if that "one GB youngster" does either. There is also the argument that Cameron Heeps was that good - he shouldn't have been in the National League anyway. He should have started in the Premier League. -

I totally agree - the Presentation by Eurosport was superb. I thought that Bunyan and Iversen were BOTH very badly treated by the Referee. Sadly this seems to happen in GPs. Over the years I have seen a lot of questionable Decisions. More so, I think, in League Meetings. I wonder why? Pressure on the Referee perhaps? -
