BUT crucially, in my opinion, Eurosport showed EVERYTHING including the Presentation at the end. With SKY's coverage they rarely showed the Presentation and one was left with a sense of anticlimax.

So basically we are saying that Ward got himself in to difficulty and, because Iversen 'laid down' his Bike to avoid hitting him, he should be excluded (I don't go along with this Disqualified rubbish either). What about another scenario - same accident Ward falls. Iversen doesn't 'Lay Down', ploughs in to him and puts him in Hospital with broken bones. I know that in that scenario Ward would be excluded for causing the stoppage. To me - in the actual Meeting Ward caused Iversen to 'Lay Down' his Bike - ergo - Ward caused the stoppage. The action taken by the Referee on Saturday Evening is hardly going to encourage Riders to 'Lay Down' their Machines - is it?

Well I don't HT. I doubt if that "one GB youngster" does either. There is also the argument that Cameron Heeps was that good - he shouldn't have been in the National League anyway. He should have started in the Premier League.

I totally agree - the Presentation by Eurosport was superb. I thought that Bunyan and Iversen were BOTH very badly treated by the Referee. Sadly this seems to happen in GPs. Over the years I have seen a lot of questionable Decisions. More so, I think, in League Meetings. I wonder why? Pressure on the Referee perhaps?

First of all, I would like to THANK Eurosport very much for adding Speedway to their stable of Motorcycling Events. Thoroughly enjoyed the coverage of the GP by Eurosport. Commentary Team was excellent, Pictures were super. I actually enjoyed the whole experience. VERY, VERY Well Done to Eurosport you did a superb job - we even got to see the Presentation. Nice one!!

Keeping my fingers crossed for Hancock. Just hope that there are no injuries.

Very true - but - there are also some Football Matches that are over before Half Time. Nobody gives anything to the losing Team in order to 'make things closer and more interesting'. Nice to see you quoting the GREAT Cloughie. A former Sunderland player you know. Best Centre Forward I ever saw - however I never saw Bobby Gurney.

Looking forward to it BW - even though, as you know, I'm not keen on the System. It will be GREAT to be watching Speedway again. :approve:

After I Posted and the re-read my Post I thought you might come back to me on that. It isn't a contradiction because the National League IS a recognised League even though it is basically for producing and Training, and yes, giving Track time to young British Riders - or that is the way it should be. As for paying to watch, my argument that the National League IS a recognised League answers that question. You want to watch League Speedway you have to pay for it.

No BW it wouldn't - but - if he had been PICKED as they do these days - then Yes - it would have.

No - not artificial at all. They do their training at National League level against the odd 'older' Rider (with which I have no problem) and then progress to the Premier/Elite League IF they are good enough. To give foreigners the chance to become better through our Training structure to me seems stupid. If we wish British Speedway to prosper, and I assume we all want that, then priority MUST be given to British Riders. At the end of the day a Speedway Rider is a Speedway Rider be he foreign or British. You can only Race what is alongside you at the Tapes. Who will he ride for at International level. TeamGB no problem. Denmark - then NO he should NOT be allowed in our National League. The clue is in the name.

Not at all - it is sensible. We NEED British Speedway to get back to the top of the pile - we will not do this by giving facilities to Foreign Riders, in some cases (not all) not as good the British Riders who are being forced out. For some reason Promoters seem to think 'Foreign is BEST'. I have news for them sometimes they are right - but - more often they are WRONG.

They will move up knowing that they have done their Training in the National League to Race against Speedway Riders from foreign Lands who have done their Training in THEIR homeland and not on our Tracks. Apart from anything else, that would give them a positive advantage. Why should WE be training Foreigners to ultimately take Team places from British lads - it doesn't make sense. British Tracks training Foreigners to beat us out of sight doesn't help British Speedway either.

I wish the 'Mail' could come back (in the Newspaper form). What a happy time that was. THREE Speedway periodicals to pick from, all were quality productions - how lucky we were in those days. Sadly, things change, and not always for the better. :sad: On the plus side, we now have 'BackTrack' and 'Classic' Speedway which is a big consolation. :approve:
