I wish the 'Mail' could come back (in the Newspaper form). What a happy time that was. THREE Speedway periodicals to pick from, all were quality productions - how lucky we were in those days. Sadly, things change, and not always for the better. On the plus side, we now have 'BackTrack' and 'Classic' Speedway which is a big consolation. :approve:

National/premier League Riders Nationality.
The White Knight replied to Mad Potter 2's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Sorry HT - I can't agree. There are already far to many Foreign Riders here already. The National League should be for British Riders only. In my opinion that is the only way we will develop as a Speedway Nation. Part of the reason for our current slide in to obscurity is due to us employing Foreigners in place of British talent. How disheartening must it be when some of these Foreigners are brought in by British Clubs and they are no better, and in some cases worse, than the British Riders who are struggling to find a Team place. -

How Many Heats In A League Meeting ?
The White Knight replied to rusky's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
There would have been only one winner in that Contest - and it wouldn't be Chris Harris. -
Suzy Perry In Playboy Magazine!
The White Knight replied to Cockney Rebel's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Where's Suzy Perry? The question I would like to ask is - WHY do Speedway Meetings have to be kept close 'to maintain interest'. That is rubbish - we are talking about SPORT here. You either win or you lose - you do NOT con the Public by contriving Results. When Man. Utd. are 6-0 up against Sunderland shortly - I can't see Sir Alex Ferguson taking it too well if the F./A. says the next two Goals Sunderland score will count double. It's b****y RIDICULOUS!! -

I think that what Parsloes says on this particular point is spot on!! .....................and I do wish you hadn't mentioned the word 'Qualification' BW. It set me thinking (again)............................................................................................. -
Why Do Speedway Meetings Take So Long To Run
The White Knight replied to cityrebel's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Hope you've got your THERMAL Vest and Trousers on. I will for Practice Day at Newcastle on Sunday. I will also have my Blanket, Deckchair, Flask and Sandwiches - in case anyone was wondering. -
I loved the 'Mail'. It had a character all of it's own. I used to get the 'Star', 'Express' and 'Mail' I enjoyed the other two very much - but - I LOVED the 'Mail'. :approve: I actually preferred the tabloid style too.

Speedway On Eurosport
The White Knight replied to michaelcroucher's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
We have to be patient. I expect one or two mistakes to occur early in the Season as Eurosport get used to a different style of Motorcycle Racing. Very best of luck to them though - and I think that Thanks are due to them for picking up our wonderful Sport that is SPEEDWAY. -

How Many Heats In A League Meeting ?
The White Knight replied to rusky's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
sidney has as much right to his opinion as you do BW. I think most of the TOP Riders of yesteryear would have found a way to be top of the tree today. I can't prove it - but - I am allowed to think/believe it - I hope. I errrm THINK I understand what you are trying to say here - but - I am not certain. Perhaps some clarification is due. -
Why Do Speedway Meetings Take So Long To Run
The White Knight replied to cityrebel's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Part of the reason for the 'long' Interval is so that the Promoter can make sure that plenty of Cash is taken in the various Bars or Bar. It is not conducive to good Customer Relations though. You are standing there, freezing cold, waiting for the next Race. It's only the diehards like us 'old gits' who are prepared to put up with it. Far too many cases of Riders returning to the Pits after a false start - everything seems geared to delaying things. Speedway Meetings should be FAST AND FURIOUS - like the Racing. Sadly - it isn't.
