  1. I'm sure it would. BUT - you didn't keep Lewis Kerr and now the 'Diamonds' are reaping the benefits. He really does look like a Class Act.
  2. No - I haven't shaved my beard off - I've had it for forty years now - too old to change. I did shave it off twice for charity - but - sadly I didn't like the look of what was underneath so I grew it straight back. :) I took my picture off in order to put another one on and I've forgotten how to do it. I am waiting for my Son to sort it for me.
  3. If Lindgren IS Fined - it will be a disgrace. Exactly WHAT was he supposed to do? He has done everything that could have been expected of him. He has honoured his Swedish Contract, had he not, he would have been in trouble there. He WOULD have ridden at Berwick had the Meeting been run on a Saturday AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE. The Meeting was changed to meet the demands of a Television Channel - hardly Lindgren's fault. His Club agreed to the Meeting on the Tuesday, presumably aware of Lindgren's commitments. As far as I can see, by all that is reasonable, no blame can be placed at Lindgren's door in any way, shape or form.
  4. I have read BOTH Confessions Books and they are GREAT. I cannot recommend them highly enough. If you want insight and opinions on Speedway these Books are a MUST!! :approve:
  5. Thank you very much Folks. Cheers for that Dave - I'll go back to sleep now. :)
  6. Let's agree to differ folks. Not worth getting worked up about. We are supposed to enjoy ourselves on here. I am leaving for the Duxford Air Show on Sunday in about half an hour - so I intend to enjoy myself.
  7. I've heard some ABSOLUTE pedantic so and so's on here but some of the Comments on this Thread really take the biscuit. An unforeseen set of circumstances occurred which mean't that Ludvig was unable to ride at Berwick. He COMMITTED himself to British Speedway at the start of the Season presumably after he had seen the Fixture List to ensure there were no clashes. he may NOT have seen the Fixtures, but that doesn't matter, he knows how British Speedway works. The BSPA then CHANGED the Fixture Date with about four weeks notice I believe. Now Ludvig obviously has a Contract with his Swedish Club too. He signed his Contract with Newcastle IN GOOD FAITH. It was the Authorities who moved the goalpost, made the change to suit SKY Television and his Club agreed to it. NONE of this has anything at all to do with Ludvig. Personally I don't think he should even have been Fined. REMEMBER: 'RULES ARE FOR THE OBEDIENCE OF FOOLS - AND THE GUIDANCE OF WISE MEN'!!! -Douglas Bader.
  8. B****y good Post!! I particularly liked the BSA Bantam bit. I don't think that Despatch Riders after WW2 had 'Lay Down Engines. Yes - the Sport is PRICING itself out of Business.
  9. To my understanding of the situation - Ludwig is NOT a mercenary - he had no other choice than to do what he did. I certainly don't think he should be fined.
  10. Terrific bit of PR and a super read. Nice to hear Supporters of BOTH Teams being praised. Watching on the Telly it really DID come over as a party atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed the Meeting. Naturally I was delighted with the Result - BUT - it takes TWO Teams to put on a Meeting like that. Praise must go to ALL Riders for a tremendous effort. The Berwick Promotion deserve any success that comes their way (as long as it isn't against us )
  11. Ergo - my thoughts on NO Substitutes at all to gift Points to opposition Riders seems to hold a certain amount of validity.
  12. Probably hand written or e-mail comunications direct to SKY plus, of course they will have their own Surveys as well.
  13. I don't think it is definite yet. ................... unless you know different. Personally I think and hope that Speedway will continue on SKY. Apart from anything else they seem to be trying awfully hard with new innovations for a Sport that they intend dumping in the future. I JUST HOPE I'M RIGHT!!!
  14. Quite agree - I have been saying this too. I can't remember a 'bad' Premier League Meeting on SKY. Personally I think that the Meetings SHOULD be shared out better than they are. I too would like a look at a National League Meeting - after all, this is where our future 'Stars' will come from hopefully. Perhaps someone at SKY could rethink their planning. Obviously there will be more Elite League Meetings than the other Leagues because the Elite League is the top? League. A bit more exposure for the other Leagues would be great.
  15. CONGRATULATIONS to Berwick for staging a FANTASTIC Meeting - great work by the Promoters and the Team. CONGRATULATIONS to Newcastle 'Diamonds' on a TERRIFIC Away performance and a GREAT win. I was VERY, VERY saddened by Paul Starke's actions tonight. I have championed his cause since he was at Newcastle last Season. I think that he let himself down VERY badly tonight.
  16. Isn't it sad that I can't think of anyone other than Woffinden (at least part Australian) who deserves a place from this Country?
  17. Not if they thought they could get a better Guest. (I nearly called you a name too. Changed my mind - Childish).
