Exactly the same in League Meetings.

Ludvig Lindgren (he's Fine Before You Worry!)
The White Knight replied to SCB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I've heard some ABSOLUTE pedantic so and so's on here but some of the Comments on this Thread really take the biscuit. An unforeseen set of circumstances occurred which mean't that Ludvig was unable to ride at Berwick. He COMMITTED himself to British Speedway at the start of the Season presumably after he had seen the Fixture List to ensure there were no clashes. he may NOT have seen the Fixtures, but that doesn't matter, he knows how British Speedway works. The BSPA then CHANGED the Fixture Date with about four weeks notice I believe. Now Ludvig obviously has a Contract with his Swedish Club too. He signed his Contract with Newcastle IN GOOD FAITH. It was the Authorities who moved the goalpost, made the change to suit SKY Television and his Club agreed to it. NONE of this has anything at all to do with Ludvig. Personally I don't think he should even have been Fined. REMEMBER: 'RULES ARE FOR THE OBEDIENCE OF FOOLS - AND THE GUIDANCE OF WISE MEN'!!! -Douglas Bader. -
Good point. :approve:

B****y good Post!! I particularly liked the BSA Bantam bit. I don't think that Despatch Riders after WW2 had 'Lay Down Engines. Yes - the Sport is PRICING itself out of Business.

Ludvig Lindgren (he's Fine Before You Worry!)
The White Knight replied to SCB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
To my understanding of the situation - Ludwig is NOT a mercenary - he had no other choice than to do what he did. I certainly don't think he should be fined. -
Terrific bit of PR and a super read. Nice to hear Supporters of BOTH Teams being praised. Watching on the Telly it really DID come over as a party atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed the Meeting. Naturally I was delighted with the Result - BUT - it takes TWO Teams to put on a Meeting like that. Praise must go to ALL Riders for a tremendous effort. The Berwick Promotion deserve any success that comes their way (as long as it isn't against us )

Ergo - my thoughts on NO Substitutes at all to gift Points to opposition Riders seems to hold a certain amount of validity.

Sky's Additions To It's Speedway Coverage.
The White Knight replied to Stephen7's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Probably hand written or e-mail comunications direct to SKY plus, of course they will have their own Surveys as well. -
I don't think it is definite yet. ................... unless you know different. Personally I think and hope that Speedway will continue on SKY. Apart from anything else they seem to be trying awfully hard with new innovations for a Sport that they intend dumping in the future. I JUST HOPE I'M RIGHT!!!

Quite agree - I have been saying this too. I can't remember a 'bad' Premier League Meeting on SKY. Personally I think that the Meetings SHOULD be shared out better than they are. I too would like a look at a National League Meeting - after all, this is where our future 'Stars' will come from hopefully. Perhaps someone at SKY could rethink their planning. Obviously there will be more Elite League Meetings than the other Leagues because the Elite League is the top? League. A bit more exposure for the other Leagues would be great.

Sky's Additions To It's Speedway Coverage.
The White Knight replied to Stephen7's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Agreed - much better. :approve: -
CONGRATULATIONS to Berwick for staging a FANTASTIC Meeting - great work by the Promoters and the Team. CONGRATULATIONS to Newcastle 'Diamonds' on a TERRIFIC Away performance and a GREAT win. I was VERY, VERY saddened by Paul Starke's actions tonight. I have championed his cause since he was at Newcastle last Season. I think that he let himself down VERY badly tonight.

Wild Cards 2014

Isn't it sad that I can't think of anyone other than Woffinden (at least part Australian) who deserves a place from this Country? -
Possibly BW - but then again - possibly not.
-
Actually you are probably right BW. Really all I want is to watch Four Riders blasting around a Speedway Track. ALL the rest is complication and unnecessary Rules. I just think that there are those in Speedway who want to make it more complicated than it needs to be. I honestly do think that that is part of the trouble.
-
Isn't that what they are doing. From the way you phrase your Post perhaps there are too many Concoctions and Contrivances - cut ALL of them out and MAYBE, just MAYBE some Supporters at least might return. Anyway - what's this 'Rolling Averages' all about?

Speedway On Eurosport
The White Knight replied to michaelcroucher's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Best bit of 'SITTING ON THE FENCE' I have ever seen Grachan. I like your argument too - all down to personal taste. ............................. as long as everyone goes along with MY personal taste. -
Actually that is Fair Comment. I must admit that I am not looking forward to watching this Meeting as much as I was, I think that replacing a perspective Heat Leader for a National League Rider devalues the whole thing. This is a pity really because Berwick seem to have worked extremely hard on promoting this Meeting - and it SHOULD have been a showcase for the Premier League. I do hope that it is still a success and that there are no injuries on either side.

Excellent Post. Therefore it could just be argued that ALL the stupid Rules in Speedway (and there are a few) are contributing to the decline in attendances. IF you cannot argue on the one hand that exciting Races does not attract larger Crowds - then perhaps the reason is something else. Concocted and contrived Results do NOT present a very good example of a SPORT that professes to be fair and honest. See my reply above.
