  1. The Rick Rubin Recordings were EXCELLENT and demonstrated the true versatility of Johnny Cash. You will have to be going some - to find any popular music, apart from some Country and Western Music ie. Alabama, The Highwaymen (Cash, Nelson, Kristofferson, Jennings) post 1963, that does ANYTHING for me at all.
  2. Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochrane, The 'Big' Boppa, Marty Wilde, The Everly Brothers, Dion and the Belmonts in Rock n' Roll sidney. In Country and Western - Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Hank Snow, Boxcar Willie, Hank Williams Jnr. and Waylon Jennings. Lots of others too. Too many to mention. ALL the above are 'GREATS' in my book. :approve:
  3. Yes - me too. Sad that Glen Campbell is now stricken with Alzheimers Disease.
  4. Basically, when it comes down to it, the impression that I get is that those who run British Speedway are more concerned with their 'core' businesses (their Tracks) than they are about producing International Class Riders who will at some stage leave our League System to take part in the Grand Prix. This, to a point is understandable. What is the point in spending money in developing Riders for the future, when, as soon as they are developed, they leave British Speedway to ride in Poland or wherever for bigger Wages. I know that not all Riders leave, but it has already happened. For example Scott Nichols gave up British Speedway for a time to concentrate on the 'GPs'. This is NOT good for British Speedway and neither is the GP System. This is one of the reasons that I am against the GP System - it is leaving our Senior League Tracks and British Speedway denuded of the World's Top Class Riders. Each Promoter has a responsibility for his own Track, in the current Financial climate, many can't seem to see any further than that. Very sad - but - that is the way I see it.
  5. I can't, to be honest, understand why the Belle Vue Management (whom I have supported through a lot of tough times on here) should decide to demote the Peter Craven 50th Anniversary Meeting to a 'Second Half'. That an 'Aces' Legend like Peter Craven (and his Family) should be treated in this way seems to me to be a bit of an insult. I am sorry - but - that is my view, and it pains me to have to say it.
  6. Yes - good luck Bridger. I would have preferred Barker or Worrall but I wish him all the best.
  7. I said on here years ago that Laser Beam Start/Finish Line would be far better than Tapes.
  8. I enjoy Ray Stadia's contribution a lot more than your cynical efforts Backless. Have you got a good word to say about anything or anybody involved in Speedway? I find it very sad because I can see from the way that you construct some of your Posts that you are capable of better. I wish you would show a positive side once in a while.
  9. THAT is ever so slightly different Matt and I suspect you know it.
  10. Yes - I noticed that. BUT - it is Sunday and I didn't want to be sarcastic. :)
  11. Perhaps a Meeting between the Falkland Island 'Islanders' and the Argentine 'Ass****s' would help.
  12. Speedway might be dying now my cynical friend - but - if it wasn't for us oldies - IT WOULD BE DEAD!!!
  13. Producing ANOTHER Programme MAY be preferable, but it may also, over a Season end up closing your Track because of even MORE Financial problems than they have now. The Government 'Cuts' have not fully hit yet - that is without the ones planned over the next few years. I believe that Promoters should do EVERYTHING and ANYTHING to keep the Sport going. If dishing out an old Programme helps with this - GREAT!! :approve:
  14. I agree with that part of your Post. It would be nice to hear from some of the so called 'lesser lights' now and again.
  15. I think that Promoters these days have little choice but to 'recycle' the Programme. Programmes must cost a fair bit to produce - particularly the excellent Magazine Programme available at Newcastle. Just throwing them away would be financial idiocy. A fact of life we have to live with I'm afraid.
  16. Thank you for that screm. I knew he had a fall - but - I had no idea his injuries were so serious. I hope that he returns both fully healed and rested. Injuries - a part of the Sport I don't like.
  17. So does Kelvin in my opinion. I don't happen to think that Briggo is ignorant either. In fact I reckon that they are more in 'The Know' than you are. Remember they are BOTH former World Champions in different disciplines.
  18. Engine Tuners seem to be the only people making money out of Speedway these days. Time to go back to Engines that can be maintained by the Rider/Mechanic. Awaits Flak.
  19. I must have missed something. What happened to Ty?
  20. I hope he' right - BUT....................................................
