  1. Why thank you ekimba. On a more serious note - I am truly sorry that Tsunami has taken offense at my Posts - all I wanted was a friendly Debate.
  2. Absolutely BRILLIANT Pirate Nick. I'm still laughing as I type. WELL DONE!!! :approve: How VERY, VERY true.
  3. Ahh me - the JOYS of the 'Play Offs'.
  4. I know you won't read this - but - it is not hypocritical at all. If you have a TACTICAL RIDE - what is wrong with riding TACTICALLY to avoid it. Not hypocritical to me - just Common Sense. The Rider would be riding his best for the TEAM and that is what counts is it not? Or am I wrong about THAT too?
  5. I have said many times - I support Nigel and Kelvin. I think they do a great job. Play Offs are a travesty of justice as we saw tonight. I felt exactly the same sense of despair when Poole were beaten by Coventry a few years ago after finishing TWENTY SIX Points behind Poole in the League.
  6. It's NOT matters though is it Dave. It is principle. I was brought up to believe in Sporting excellence. In the belief that one Man/Woman or Team pitted themselves against each other on a Level Playing Field in FAIR and HONEST Competition. The way things are in Speedway (and some other Sports too) at the moment are very far removed from FAIR and HONEST. THAT is my problem. From Double Points, Play Offs even some League Meetings - need I mention Belle Vue v. Poole. That Meeting should NEVER have taken place. It did - but - to cap it all - Poole get the Seven Points up that they require to progress to the 'Play Offs' and the Meeting is called off. IT SHOULD NEVER HAVE STARTED. All that in front of all the Television Viewers watching - it looked what it was - DREADFUL. You wonder why new people don't come to Speedway - you don't have to look too far to find out.
  7. You may be right Dave. Which is why I am considering giving Speedway up.
  8. What anomalies? A Rider either has a 6.3 Average or he hasn't that is Black and White. I'm not going to have to use the word Fiddle again am I?
  9. Well that's OK then. It's should be remembered that it is us 'Dinosaurs' who are turning up in regular numbers. It is the YOUNGER Generation that is letting Speedway down.
  10. IF they are the best 16 Riders in the World - they should have NO problems Qualifying then - should they?
  11. The Belle Vue v. Poole Meeting was, for me just indicative of what is wrong with Speedway today. It seemed to me that the Meeting should never have taken place and that it was fiddled through. I seem to use that word a lot these days where Speedway is concerned.
  12. I LOVE my Speedway but feel I am being driven out by stupid Rules HT. I go EVERY week as you know. (I also like Icecream). The ONLY recourse that I have to criticise or praise our Sport is through this Forum. Oldace has every RIGHT to air his views on here, I don't always agree with him, come to think about it I hardly ever agree with him - BUT - as a Speedway 'nut' he has as much right to comment on the way our Sport is run as anybody else. Oh! - and age is NOT irrelevent - we had the VERY BEST that Speedway had to offer years ago. Speedway today is just a pale shadow of what it used to be. AND THAT IS NOT LOOKING BACK WITH ROSE COLOURED SPECTACLES EITHER!!!
  13. This is a DISCUSSION Forum - we can discuss what we like, when we like and how we like thank you.
  14. If you have a name like 'Hugh Skidmore' that in itself deserves to give you the Rider of the year Title. The name perfectly describes Speedway.
  15. .............. and here in Sunderland FORTY years ago. Let's hope that Glasgow can be pulled around and will run next Season.
