  1. I saw Jimmy Squibb at Sunderland riding for Eastbourne, I believe. Nice to know I have seen the longest serving Rider in British Speedway.
  2. A nice laugh at the end of the day. Thank you.
  3. I never do. I don't think there should be any Substitutions at all. Speedway is all about Results on the Track. Any, ANY Substitutions/Double Points is a mere contrivance of the Result.
  4. I agree - even if he anticipates the Start.
  5. So once they are established and they 'kick off' - refuse to employ them the following Season. Easy really. But it won't happen because if a Team finds itself in trouble and needs a top Rider - we all know what will happen. Don't we?
  6. Surely a lot of this is speculation. If a Rider has a condition the renders him unable to ride, from time to time, then he should be covered by a Doctor's Note. If this is so - then there is no argument. Unsure whether the Ban he received is justified or not, especially in view of other culprits.
  7. Everyone seems to be generalising here. That is wrong. Some Australians are a positive influence on our Speedway, some are not. I would agree with not employing those who are always moaning as claimed by a few on here - but the others are not guilty by association, they are all individuals and some are great assets to our Sport. Josh Grajczonek has done nothing wrong as far as I know - why should he, or others like him, be treated as pariahs due to he actions of a certain few of their Countrymen.. Those who behave themselves should be welcomed as they bring something different and add colour to our Sport.
  8. Spot on - then I can, and will, return to watching Speedway again.
  9. Your comments are getting more ridiculous. Of course I want Speedway to survive. The reason I have given up is not petty either, not to my mind anyway - believe me there are plenty more disillusioned Speedway Supporters staying away and for many different reasons. Some of them will be the same as me - in fact I know that to be true. That's the trouble with people like you, you can see nobody's point but your own. Anyway, you know my reasons and you don't agree with me - I can understand that, fair enough. Your continuing reference to is mildly irritating though. I will admit that my absence may, in a very tiny way, be hurting Speedway - but the bloody silly Double Points Rule is hurting me even more Why don't you direct your ire to the people who caused the problem in the first place - the Promoters. As a Track Photographer I can understand that might be difficult for you. But whether you like it or not - that is where the blame lies.
  10. To be frank - you have had a couple of goes at me over this. I don't think sticking to my principles is, as you put it "cutting my nose off to spite my face". I disagree with you and I think I have made that plain on a couple of occasions. I can't see why you keep dragging it up to be honest. I do have a right to my beliefs. Unless you consider it otherwise, of course.
  11. I have lost count of the number of great Starts I have seen, only to be pulled back by the Referee. Surely, anticipation is a skill in itself. Plus - if the Rider gets it wrong, he touches the Tapes and is either replaced or goes off 15 metres. Awaits Flak.
  12. Yes, it is - and you know why. I am being asked to buy a Product that I don't like, because of a Rule of the Sport that goes against everything I believe in. I did not bring in that Rule, those who run the Sport did. Are you saying I should spend further money buying something, in order to support the very people who made me leave the Sport of Speedway in the first place? I DON'T THINK SO!!!!
  13. Whisky and SODA!!! Good God man have you no taste? I wouldn't ruin a good Single Malt with SODA WATER. Bloody hell - there are limits you know Ray.
  14. That shocked me - the Fuel is a lot cheaper than I thought it was.
  15. I would agree apart from one thing. Contracts in Sport seem to mean something a lot different to those in Industry. Nobody seems to adhere to them on either side, Employer or Employee.
  16. Any Rider not going straight back to the start gets put on 15 metres. Meetings should be run far more efficiently than they currently are.
  17. I agree with the sentiment here - but crucially - the problem is that Speedway is in such a state now, that boycotting a Meeting could ultimately end up with said Track closing down. Nobody wants that.
