Riders Who Draw In The Crowds
The White Knight replied to ColinMills's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
That sounds about right to me Falcon Hammer. It sounds bad - but - it did no harm at all to attract the Crowds to Speedway. People were always wondering what 'Crazy' Jack would get up to next. Oh - and he once needed a Police Escort out of Peterborough. Ron Wilson the Promoter at Teeside used to always invite Jack to ride in Open Meetings - he reckoned that it was worth 500 on the Gate. Happy days. :approve: -

Who Over The Years Were The Stars In The National League.?
The White Knight replied to stratton's topic in Years Gone By
Does it really matter - they were BOTH National Leagues - so where is the problem. No Dates were stated in the original Post - and it IS interesting to read about the old stagers of our Sport. So come on - let's have a bit of fairness here. -

				New Zealand Gp.
The White Knight replied to STARRGAZER1's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Sounds good to me. after all - America do it for the Boxing. -
I enjoyed the Meeting last night (apart from the cold). I agree that it took too long to run the Meeting - but - with injuries to fallen Riders you cannot be too careful I suppose. I would like to congratulate BOTH Teams - and particularly the Track Staff - I think they did a great job getting the Track in to a Raceable state. Times for most Races were not far off normal. Newcastle Riders all did well and well done to Lewis Kerr on his Paid Maximum - let's hope there are many more to come. For Redcar - I thought Lawson looked good when in front but the Rider who impressed me most was the one lots of Redcar Supporters seem to complain about - Carl Wilkinson. His never say die, 100% efforts were much appreciated as he contributed hugely to the entertainment on the Track.

Who Over The Years Were The Stars In The National League.?
The White Knight replied to stratton's topic in Years Gone By
Graeme Smith (Canterbury/Sunderland), Trevor Geer (Eastbourne), Richard Greer (Peterborough), Bruce Forrester (Teeside) and Doug Wyer (Berwick). Those are my five favourite Riders - however I must also mention one Rider who was usually worth the admission money alone and that was 'Crazy' Jack ('Millen the Villain') Millen (Crewe/Sunderland). Probably the MOST entertaining Rider I have ever seen and we were VERY fortunate to have seen his BEST years at Sunderland. When you mention Speedway to folk in Sunderland today - Jack Millen is the name that still comes up. Amazing when you consider that we haven't had a Track for FORTY years. My five top Riders were more skillful and stylish than Jack - but - if you desperately needed Points - Jack was the man to get them - one way or another.
