  1. Again - I quite agree with your comments about his attitude which seems first class. The problem is that I keep being told that the Elite League is far superior to the Premier League. If that is the case - then he must be far too good a Rider for mere Premier League racing. He is an Elite League Number One after all. Craig Cook would probably fit in to the same bracket.
  2. Yes! IF the Elite League is the TOP League that folk claim it to be then Jason Doyle would be too good for the Premier League. It would be like feeding candy (money) to a baby. THAT is of course, IF the Elite League is that strong.
  3. Ooops!! Looks like I Post this on the wrong Thread. There are TWO of them: I totally agree - BUT - what is the answer? Too much noise and a Track could be closed down these days so you HAVE to reduce the noise. For me, the open exhausts were the best - they certainly made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. :approve: :approve: Sadly - you just can't allow that these days. Bl**dy Health and Safety/Noise Abatement crap. Oooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh for a good smell of Castrol 'R'.

  5. Aaahhh!! That's better BW - I can't agree with that. Speedway is missing villains. It used to be great years ago when you had Riders like 'Crazy' Jack (Millen the Villain) Millen, Tony Childs, Taffy Owen - these were all characters that the Home Supporters loved but that the away were enraged by, due to their behaviour. It made for atmosphere. People would come along just to watch these 'Characters' sadly this side of things seems to be lost to the Sport. Like things I have alluded to on other Threads - most of the Riders are the same these days. Oh - I nearly forgot BW - I'm 69 in about two weeks time. I don't know whether THAT qualifies me as an "older fan" - but - I loved those characters, at least they were entertaining.
  6. Let's just hope his taste has improved over the years.
  7. I would like to add my thanks too. The Support of former Riders, not just Sunderland Riders has been phenomenal. The only sad thing is that since 1974 there has been no Sunderland Team to support. Happiness is 40-38. Ian Martin.
  8. This a superb Service Andrew - THANK YOU very much.
  9. Reading most of the Reviews - it looks pretty poor to me.
  10. Then perhaps Carling should.............................................
  11. I wonder if Stewart Goodall is any relation to John Goodall N.Z. who rode for Sunderland for half a Season in 1971. He had the makings of a really good Rider - but left Sunderland under something of a cloud.
  12. Oh no your not. Myself and Stuart Robson would be on your side too. :approve:
  13. No Doc you are wrong. People who come on here to deliberately have a go at other Posters are TROLLS in my book. Gustix isn't - he just has to put up with unpleasant invective from you most of the time. If you don't like what he Posts - stick him an ignore - and then the rest of us won't have to read all of your unpleasant comments. I enjoy your Posts most of the time - but this vendetta against Gustix is going too far. Thank you. Ian.
  14. Yes, they were important. You may scoff - but it made towards the ENTERTAINMENT. Perhaps that is a dirty word these days. Have you got Colour TV yet - it's GREAT - it has various Colours on it.
  15. NEVER - Miles to the Gallon is the only way for a Briton. We have got far too much foreign crap over here as it is - without changing everything for them. Apparently there are more French living in London, I believe, than live in some French Cities. THIS is GREAT BRITAIN - we need to remember that. :approve:
  16. But NOT that type of noise. Airhorns are an aberration. Why do you think we have these ridiculous Silencers on the Bike these days? It is in order to lessen the noise and make the Sport more acceptable to the General Public. I would love to go back to the days of open exhausts, but if we want to keep Tracks open we can't. Anything that increases the noise these days is a 'no no' in my opinion.
  17. Fair enough - but I don't intend to try to explain myself any further on this, I have done my best. I think MOST people will understand what I am getting at - whether they agree with me or not.
  18. Probably by 'old fogies' like Me. :approve: I strongly supported the 'Metric Martyr', Steve Thoburn in his campaign to keep Imperial Weights and Measures. I STILL shop for my Fruit in his Shop today. Sadly Steve Thoburn passed away a few years ago - the Shop, though, is still in the Family.
  19. I think you are being deliberately provocative. Any colour = Kevlar/Leathers. Team Identity = Race Jacket + Emblem. It is the Race Jackets that should be the same in my view. Get it!!!
