  1. Or have they stopped coming because the Sport has devalued itself by bringing in stupid, unnecessary and fiddling Rules. When I say the Sport has lost it's CREDIBILITY I am deadly serious - it has. Just one example should suffice. The World Cup a couple of years ago. Without checking back I think it was Australia LOST despite never having used a Joker (because they were unable to). ALL the other Teams had used their Joker which did NOT keep the Scores closer (as intended) but instead cost Australia the World Cup. CREDIBILITY is everything. Oh - and what about Nicki Pedersen and Jason Crump fighting hard to finish LAST in a Race in the World Cup - what was that about? You can CON some of the people some of the time - BUT - you cannot CON all of the people all of the time. People KNOW when they are being hoodwinked. Now - ask yourself WHY the Crowds have gone down - it's really not difficult. This example transfers also to League Racing in the form of Tactical Rides.
  2. I wonder why? CREDIBILITY perhaps. They could be right Vince - you seem to have a 'thing' about this. I can't remember the Leg Trailers - but - I KNOW I enjoyed my Speedway better back in the Seventies than I do now. The simple fact is that comparatively speaking Speedway isn't as good as it was years ago. What is so wrong with telling the TRUTH? We've all seen Races on the Television that Nigel Pearson tries to talk up and some of them are, frankly, rubbish. Telling folk that things are great these days, never been better, is just downright wrong. Totally untrue.
  3. There is a simple answer - DO NOT GIVE IN TO THE BULLIES!!! If you do - THEY WIN!!!
  4. Blimey!!!! You are asking a lot there.
  5. I thought it was better years ago - but - we have what we have - and it is good that Speedway has a Magazine at all these days.
  6. I'll get me skates. :o ................................... and me coat.
  7. Good luck with whoever you choose to Support. You will find that most Speedway Supporters are a friendly bunch. If you have problems filling in the Programme - just ask whoever is standing next to you and I am sure they will help - they did me - fifty odd years ago. ENJOY your Speedway - that is the main thing.
  8. You can't say that. She'll kill you. I don't like Mice either. MY HAT!!! Perhaps I was a........................................ CAT!!!
  9. I think this is a great Thread. I totally agree that we need to be friendly to new Forum Members. I commend Shale Searcher for the original Post. I would also say that we could do more to be friendly to the Members of longer standing - but - as I argue with most of them, perhaps I should keep quiet about that. (only joking) I think that a Section "Speedway for Beginners" is a great idea. This Forum, for all it's faults, is a superb resource. We have Promoters, Managers, Riders and Supporters on here - so much experience. It would be great to be able to help new Supporters understand our belovéd Sport better. Being able to do so would, perhaps, encourage those with less experience to stick around and thus learn the various nuances of Speedway. You never know - it might even encourage some of the Forum's Guests to sign up AND try to sample our wonderful Sport. WELCOME to the Forum Shale Searcher and Hammers66.
  10. You are right about that. I must say that I like your Avatar. :approve:
  11. You've got it. Just got back from the Comrades Club. Nice Coffee and Scones. Super Post. Those were, indeed, the days. Damn!!!! - there goes another one. I just managed to dodge that one too. Coffins.
  12. Like the allegations made about various people - by various people. I'm not getting involved in this discussion apart from my earlier intervention.
  13. That isn't what I was getting at sidney. My point is that was as pointed out earlier in the Thread - back in the 70s there were numerous (comparatively) Riders with an Average of 10 Points plus. Some even had an 11 Point plus Average - nowadays according to the earlier Poster there is only ONE Rider with a 9.5 plus Average. This suggests that the top echelon of Riders, in our era today, are not as good as the Riders of yesteryear in their era. Comparisons of Riders in different Eras are very difficult, but to me, the figures speak for themselves.
