  1. You've got it. Just got back from the Comrades Club. Nice Coffee and Scones. Super Post. Those were, indeed, the days. Damn!!!! - there goes another one. I just managed to dodge that one too. Coffins.
  2. Like the allegations made about various people - by various people. I'm not getting involved in this discussion apart from my earlier intervention.
  3. That isn't what I was getting at sidney. My point is that was as pointed out earlier in the Thread - back in the 70s there were numerous (comparatively) Riders with an Average of 10 Points plus. Some even had an 11 Point plus Average - nowadays according to the earlier Poster there is only ONE Rider with a 9.5 plus Average. This suggests that the top echelon of Riders, in our era today, are not as good as the Riders of yesteryear in their era. Comparisons of Riders in different Eras are very difficult, but to me, the figures speak for themselves.
  4. We may never learn the full truth of what happened here. However - to my mind - it is up to the Speedway Authorities to fully investigate what went on with this unfortunate incident. They must then act accordingly to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again. A Rider's LIFE may depend on it. Meanwhile - most of what has been discussed on here is just pure conjecture.
  5. Naughty. We didn't have Forums then. If we had I may have done so. Just as today - I doubt if it would have done much good.
  6. You are dead right about that. I would be interested to know though, how we could have done it. We were not responsible for the state Speedway is in today - we kept the faith and paid our money. Now if you have a look at the BSPA, the SCB, and the FIM - you may be nearer the mark. Only one problem - we 'oldies' do not run Speedway - we only pay for it along with everyone else.
  7. But none of the above are the responsibility or the fault of the so called 'Old Brigade' for which you appear to have so little respect - even though the 'Old Brigade' demographic is largely who you have to thank for having any Speedway at all to watch. It is nothing to do with the 'Elder' Supporters - but - EVERYTHING to do with the way the Sport is run in this Country. I wouldn't argue with that. I would say though that standards have dropped and whilst the poorer Riders are better - the top Riders are not as good as in years gone by.
  8. I was only trying to help hence the Smiley. I thought that you might find the information you wanted there. Thanks for the Link Alan.
  9. Aaaahhhh - but as the original Poster said in the Thread Title: Is "Rich Hall back at Sheffield"?
  10. They aren't coming to watch the Crowd though, are they? They are coming to watch the Racing and enjoy the Meeting. If the Racing can't hold their interest - then the demographic won't matter will it?.
  11. I hear what you are saying Deano - but - as one of those folk who are 'too old' - might I remind you that it is probably because of us, that there is any Speedway to watch in this Country at all. Just a thought.
  12. I'm sorry - I can't read this Post. I should have gone to Specsavers.
  13. I thought it was a wonderful Programme. Tai has done wonders for Speedway.I thought he came across as a very dedicated, hard working, focused, brave, professional and caring young man. I was particularly impressed when he was at the Hospital with the little children. He seemed to be able to relate to them in a way that did not seem forced in any way, and they seemed to relate to him. He was very frank about not being great at School. I thought he was very honest right through the Programme. What a tremendous asset to Speedway Tai has become. I believe Speedway needs Tai Woffinden probably more than Tai needs Speedway. He came across as a young man who knows exactly where he is going, and knows how to get there. A person who I would be very proud to invite to any School Debate, Fair, Reunion anywhere - as a very good example of today's young people.
  14. Who says? Rules have been changed mid-season in the past - IF it suited someone.
