  1. No - Triplicate. I have already told my friend with whom I go to the Speedway that I will NOT be attending every week next Season. I will become a 'Now and again'/Armchair Supporter. My reasons for this are solely due to the Double Points and the Play Off Rules. I do realise that some will think, thank goodness for that. The downside is that you will still have me to put up with on this Forum. I can no longer continue to regularly support a Sport that has, in my eyes, totally lost it's credibility.
  2. Then we are more or less in agreement. The League Championship should be just that. The top six could then ride in a 'Play Off' Competition to decide who is the 'Play Off' Champions. I WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER WITH THAT!!! All fair and above board. The 'Play Off' Competition with the Top Six Teams would be a real money spinner without, on occasions, robbing the true League Champions of their Title.
  3. Out of interest Steve - IF the 'Diamonds' are not in the 'Play Offs' - how much Revenue comes to Newcastle from the said 'Play Offs'? Genuine question.
  4. Hooray!!! That sums it up EXACTLY. As I said earlier - PATHETIC!!! They won't change it - but that doesn't make it RIGHT. Who cares about that though? WHY NOT? Speedway labels itself as a SPORT. The Season's performance should be the Gold Riband for the League Competitons. League Champions should NOT be cheated out of their rightful Title. The whole thing makes us look stupid. I don't care how many other Sports do it either. IT DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT!!!
  5. Errr NO!!! So that the Promoter doesn't have to take a loss because half of his Crowd are attending a Football Match. By delaying the start they can do BOTH!!! A very sound business decision in my opinion - the Promoter would be mad not to change the start time. Whether YOU like it or not Football is way bigger than Speedway these days - accommodations have to be made in order to co-exist. It might be an idea to think your argument through before you Post unwarranted criticism of one of the better Promotional setups in the Premier League.
  6. Agree - doesn't that make the 'Play Off' System so pathetic.
  7. Try watching an episode Eddie. I think it is quite funny. I's a bit rude in parts - but it makes me laugh anyway.
  8. It is if you are a casual visitor like me. Obviously myself and others don't matter - well that's OK then. Bloody Southerners.
  9. Kathryn Tickell terrific. The Scots might claim it back if they get Independence. I'm a big fan of Pipe Bands.
  10. As a casual reader of this Thread - I couldn't understand some of the Initials. Ah well!! My loss.
  11. EH!!!!! Very true - and I didn't like them then either. orion - I am doing my very best to understand your Posts. Do you mean: "doesn't hold much water. Only asking - but that is two in a row I have struggled with. In fact I am still not sure about the first one.
  12. Wow!! I should say so. Some really cracking Riders there.
  13. Thanks for the update on Matty screm. Here's hoping his pelvis heals quickly and as painlessly as possible.
  14. I would say that they probably are - but - then again I think that the Elite League only charge a Pound or two more, yet pay out, it seems to me large sums of money to certain Riders. That, to me, is what makes the Elite League unsustainable.Lower the Prices and you might attract one or two new Supporters but I can't see the Riders accepting a drop in Pay so, because of this, the League would be in even more trouble.
  15. Well - if you label yourself Elite I suppose it's inevitable. If you are the BEST then, in business terms, you have to charge more than the minnows. Whilst I'm not sure I agree with the Premier League Promoters - I can at least understand their point of view. Drop Elite League Prices to Premier League levels and some may be tempted away to watch the Elite League. The stance of the Premier League Promoters makes good business sense. I might not like it, but I accept it.
