  1. Very clever Oldace. :approve: You may not like Len Silver, but he has probably done more for Speedway in this Country than anyone else around these days. A little respect would be appropriate, I believe. Whatever else Len Silver is - he is not a Fool. He was an excellent Rider, an excellent Promoter and an excellent Great Britain/England Team Manager. Perhaps you have forgotten that - I haven't. He is though getting old - as will you some day - you would do well to remember that.
  2. Speedway Promoters needs to organise it's Fixtures much better than it does. It should ensure the League Meetings are prioritised during the Summer (provide we get one) - not the Autumn. The 'pick your own opponents' Rule should be scrapped - it only extends the League Season even further thus making it inevitable that there will be congestion at the end of the Season - as do the 'Play Offs'. It isn't rocket science to realise that having these Meetings at the end of the Season is going to mean you will have smaller Crowds - folk don't like standing around in the cold and often wet for two sometime two and a half hours to watch fifteen minutes of Racing.. Those who run Speedway should realise it is a SUMMER Sport when they bring in all of these unnecessary extra Fixtures.
  3. YES!!! Very laudable - but - where is all the MONEY coming from to do it?
  4. So they are setting about letting him off? ONLY in Speedway.
  5. Yes - I forgot about that - I'm sure I read about that somewhere BW.
  6. I forgot, my memory isn't what it once was, forgive me. Freddie Williams and Peter Craven surely should be mentioned on here. I never saw either of them Race - but - BOTH were two time World Champions. They definitely would have been among my favourites had I seen them ride. :approve:
  7. I don't believe Mark Loram actually won a GP when he won the World Championship. He was, however, the most consistent Rider over the Series that year.
  8. Sadly I think that the Weather has been the big Winner this Season. This, of course, leading to Fixture congestion towards the end of the Season. Perhaps, knowing the vagaries of a British Summer, some serious thought needs to be given to the number of Meetings/Competitions the Clubs have to Race in.
  9. Crumbs!!! Reading some of the Posts on here - it must be great to be perfect.
  10. As the Site has not been identified yet - perhaps it may be somewhere else. Hopefully so reading your comments.
  11. Fair point - it may mean the dilution of British Speedway for a year or two - but - as British lads come through and develop we just might, eventually, be able to field a Great Britain Team in the World Cup that is worthy of the name.
  12. Good Post. Add to that you might get your Local Team staying together for a bit more than a single Season - you might even get to know your Riders - perhaps have a drink in the Bar with them. Happy days!!
  13. You have just made a very good Case for standardised Engines.
  14. Another who came to mind was Edward Jancarz of Wimbledon. I was reminded whilst watching the GP. A great Rider in my opinion.
  15. Sorry Dave - I withdrew my comment without being asked. I genuinely did not want to upset anyone. I AM however entitled to my views on any Rider I wish to comment on. THAT is what this Forum is for - or so I thought. Some folk are far too sensitive.
  16. Yes - a bit of a misery - but - a terrific Rider. Another great favourite of mine was Jim Airey. :approve:
  17. I loved watching them - but - they weren't out of the top drawer like Briggo etc. I just noticed that neither of us mentioned Mauger - that was NOT a mistake on my part. A great Rider - but - never one of top favourites.
