The Future Of The Elite League

What you say is fair enough Bruiser. That is your opinion, to which you are entitled, and I respect that. I would not dream of "shooting you down". I just don't agree with you. It would be an odd world if we all agreed on everything - wouldn't it. :) -

Come on - he is 22 years old. He is NO LONGER a kid - he is a man. He needs to take responsibility for his actions. He also needs to be treated just the same as any other Rider would be. We cannot go on for ever using the 'just a young kid' excuse. That may have been right a few years ago - it certainly isn't now. -
Not me. How much time did the Referee actually cost us last night? He was excluding Riders who were at the Tapes for heavens sake. Fine the Rider by all means but don't exclude him - it takes a while to get another Rider ready as we saw last night. Then what did he do? He excluded him as well. Whatever happened to common sense? RIDICULOUS!!!

You better believe it. The Golden Double was a MAJOR, MAJOR contributor to my decision. That and the 'Play Offs'. There are other Regulations that I don't agree with too - BUT - those two are the main reasons I have had enough. -

Sometimes it's hard. -
Made for shocking Television last night. Even Nigel and Kelvin were embarrassed. Very sad Night for Speedway. I sincerely hope Roscoe doesn't get in to trouble for his comments. Had I been Swindon Team Manager I would have been tearing my hair out. The Referee's actions totally dominated a Meeting which should have been all about Speedway. We will never know how many people were turned off Speedway last night - if it was ONE - it was too many. All in all - one to forget.

Consider yourself duly reprimanded. :D I don't agree with you over this business with Ward - but - yes, you are quite right - you are entitled to your opinion. -

I think you could have put that rather differently. We have a number of people on here who despair at the actions of one extremely talented individual. They are both disappointed and disgusted by this waste of talent. They see a young man on the Television who gives an apology - but - doesn't look particularly contrite. They conclude, with some justification that the boy is a fool. Nobody wants to hang him though. -

I don't think so. Those Riders were hardly of the same calibre as those mentioned by moxey63. They were good Riders yes - but crucially - certainly not 'Greats' to be compared with the Riders Moxey63 mentioned. -

I would like to clear up one thing - the Result of a Speedway Meeting is matterless to me as long as I see some good Racing and the end Result is fairly achieved. Sadly these days that is not always the case. This is MY view only and it is the way I feel. I feel the same about the 'Play Offs' as well. I will still, as I say, come on this Forum. I shall still follow Newcastle through their excellent 'Live Chat' zone. Finally I will relive my Speedway through both 'BackTrack' and 'Classic Speedway' Magazines. They take me back to a time I really loved my chosen Sport (even though I was never comfortable with the Tactical Substitute Regulation). "The Past is a foreign Country - they do things differently there" - L.P. Hartley ................. and I could add to my above quote by L.P. Hartley 'and better'. -

I stood at Brough Park tonight and thought to myself - why am I doing this. I don't like the Rules/Regulations ie: Double Points, Play Offs etc - yes, even down to the Yellow Helmet Cover that I cannot distinguish from the White Helmet Cover under lights. I thought I'm freezing cold, wet and I am really not enjoying this at all. Well - tonight I made a decision. I said earlier that I would pick and choose when I went to Speedway next Season. I have revised my decision - I am finished. My decision had nothing to do with me being cold and wet - I could take that. It was a decent Meeting too. There were NO Tactical Rides etc. I just realised that I could no longer support a Sport that has so totally lost it's credibility and is, if it continues as it is, heading for extinction. I really don't want to watch that. From now on - it is the Armchair for me..................................................... Another 'Oldie' gone - that should please a few on here anyway. -

No - Triplicate. I have already told my friend with whom I go to the Speedway that I will NOT be attending every week next Season. I will become a 'Now and again'/Armchair Supporter. My reasons for this are solely due to the Double Points and the Play Off Rules. I do realise that some will think, thank goodness for that. The downside is that you will still have me to put up with on this Forum. I can no longer continue to regularly support a Sport that has, in my eyes, totally lost it's credibility. -
Who Will Make The Playoffs ?
The White Knight replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Then we are more or less in agreement. The League Championship should be just that. The top six could then ride in a 'Play Off' Competition to decide who is the 'Play Off' Champions. I WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER WITH THAT!!! All fair and above board. The 'Play Off' Competition with the Top Six Teams would be a real money spinner without, on occasions, robbing the true League Champions of their Title. -

Out of interest Steve - IF the 'Diamonds' are not in the 'Play Offs' - how much Revenue comes to Newcastle from the said 'Play Offs'? Genuine question. -
Who Will Make The Playoffs ?
The White Knight replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Hooray!!! That sums it up EXACTLY. As I said earlier - PATHETIC!!! They won't change it - but that doesn't make it RIGHT. Who cares about that though? WHY NOT? Speedway labels itself as a SPORT. The Season's performance should be the Gold Riband for the League Competitons. League Champions should NOT be cheated out of their rightful Title. The whole thing makes us look stupid. I don't care how many other Sports do it either. IT DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT!!! -
Errr NO!!! So that the Promoter doesn't have to take a loss because half of his Crowd are attending a Football Match. By delaying the start they can do BOTH!!! A very sound business decision in my opinion - the Promoter would be mad not to change the start time. Whether YOU like it or not Football is way bigger than Speedway these days - accommodations have to be made in order to co-exist. It might be an idea to think your argument through before you Post unwarranted criticism of one of the better Promotional setups in the Premier League.

Agree - doesn't that make the 'Play Off' System so pathetic.
