  1. I agree - Brian is right. Only pay out what you can afford. To do anything else would be foolish in the extreme and lead to Track closures as has been said.
  2. I didn't say we shouldn't want him. I said that I didn't think we would get him. As I said with 'Robbo' in for Lindgren - that would be a super Team.
  3. Substitute 'Robbo' for Lindgren and I could go along with that Team. I don't think we would get Richie Worrall though?
  4. Reading this Thread is enough to put you off Speedway for life. As you say Paulco complicated or what?
  5. A very good question that. Perhaps they cannot have proper World Cup/Test Matches because most Countries probably would not be able to field a Team of seven competitive Riders. You can include England in that too - sadly.
  6. I know - but he is still trying to get an Appeal against his conviction. I did not know that. Thank you for the information E I Addio. Yes - I had forgotten about that Arson. Thank you.
  7. I notice you do not mention the Appeal that is proceeding........................................
  8. If you read any, or all of my Posts regarding Tactical Substitutes and Tactical Rides you would be aware of the fact that I am against BOTH ways of Fiddling/Contriving Results. I couldn't give a damn about which is the best or worst - I couldn't care less. THEY ARE BOTH UNFAIR AND WRONG!!!!
  9. No it most certainly shouldn't. In the case of Evans though, there is still an Appeal against his guilt going through the Courts. They also said on the News at one point that there were some oddities about the Case. Until ALL of the Legal avenues are completed - I will reserve my judgement.
  10. I didn't say that gustix. By his own, American, standards he was a very good Rider I agree. But crucially, where Speedway in those days mattered, in Europe on his own admittance he couldn't hack it. Scott Autrey was a far better Rider than Bast. Bast didn't have the testicular fortitude or the determination/dedication to stay over here and fight for the World Championship. He took the easy option - I don't blame him for that at all, but that is a fact. According to another Post "he considered himself the best in the World" at one point - he is deluding himself. He was never anywhere near that. As I said in an earlier Post he was great on American Tracks - and really that is all you can say about him. The best in the World - NEVER!!! :nono:
  11. I don't think so. :nono: Great News this. Good luck Lewis. :approve:
  12. I don't like Evans, or what he did (if he did it). However, whatever happened to rehabilitation? He has (possibly) 'done the Crime' and has also 'done the time' for it Guilty or not. He was found Guilty by a Jury of his Peers - but - Juries have been wrong before. He has always protested his innocence.
  13. And if the Team getting the 8-1 WINS the Meeting without the other Team having the chance to use the Tactical Ride because they have generally ridden better - that is FAIR is it? I don't think so.
  14. Probably Bast was an American Track expert/specialist. When he got to the varying size Tracks in Europe - he got found out. Just my opinion though.
  15. Very much one dimensional thoughgustix. He was at his best on American Tracks - didn't do much in Europe. There are a whole load of American Riders who were far better than him racing over here. Penhall, Sigalos, the Morans, Autry to name a very few.
  16. Just about.............................................
