Raymond Glendenning, W. Barrington-Dalby, Eamonn Andrews, John Arlott, Brian Johnson etc.. - as you say sidney - legends. Even Peter ('Twickers') West. Nothing around of this sort of quality and class these days.

I would also add the Americans call Baseball the 'World Series'. What's that all about - not too many other countries even play Baseball. Canada does (Toronto 'Bluejays') but I can't immediately think of anyone else.

You are right gustix, but his experience and ability in all other places of Speedway competition, ie. Europe means that he can, and never could be ranked amongst the truly 'Greats' of the Sport.

He obviously lacked ambition though. I would have thought that any Sportsman/woman would strive to get to the top in their chosen Sport. Obviously Bast didn't think it was worth the effort.

I agree - Brian is right. Only pay out what you can afford. To do anything else would be foolish in the extreme and lead to Track closures as has been said.

I didn't say we shouldn't want him. I said that I didn't think we would get him. As I said with 'Robbo' in for Lindgren - that would be a super Team.

Substitute 'Robbo' for Lindgren and I could go along with that Team. I don't think we would get Richie Worrall though?

Reading this Thread is enough to put you off Speedway for life. As you say Paulco complicated or what?

A very good question that. Perhaps they cannot have proper World Cup/Test Matches because most Countries probably would not be able to field a Team of seven competitive Riders. You can include England in that too - sadly.
