Me neither. I thought the 'March' music was great when the Track Staff walked out, followed by the Riders. Of course, those were the days when Speedway was run professionally.

I am only trying to look on the bright side. I have decided, now that Double Points is no more thank goodness, to return to Speedway again - I am hoping it will be at Newcastle - it is my local Track. I don't want to be defeatist, and I have faith in George, as I am sure he will be working as hard as he can to ensure Newcastle's future. We are not privy to what is going on in the background, and lack of information is, I agree, niggling. However, negotiations may be at a critical point with Sponsors and George can't announce anything until things are finalised. I am not saying that is so - but it is possible. That is the way I am trying to look at it. IF and until closure is announced, I will still believe that I will be going to Brough next year.

Nice one Britmet - you have forced me to re-evaluate my opinion. Hveem had a much better record than I realised. You are right - on your evidence he is indeed the best Norwegian Rider. I never saw him ride sadly.

A difficult question BOBBATH. I agree with you regarding Jim Airey. Personally - I'm with Sidney on the 'One Off' World Final - I much preferred that. It's all about opinions though and I appreciate that plenty of folk like the GP System. Not for me though.

He was great!! Loved watching both him and Guasco at Sunderland. Two super Riders and Gordon is still sadly missed.

Gordon Guasco rode for Sunderland 'Saints' when he first came over here, along with Jim Airey. I still remember our Team with affection even though they weren't around very long.

I am concerned - but I agree with you that George will leave no stone unturned in his efforts to make sure that Newcastle Speedway run next Season. As I said earlier - we can only wait and see.

They did get rid of Double Points though.
