  1. I think they should take him out and hang him. Would probably still not satisfy some folks on here...........................................................
  2. You may well be right. But - if people are kept hanging around too long so they can be bled dry - surely they are going to think s*d this - I'm not coming back here. Fifteen minutes of Racing in TWO AND A HALF HOURS is just taking the p*ss. Sorry.
  3. No, actually I am not Tsunami. What I am saying is that the Castrol 'R' smell was a contributing factor to people enjoying their Speedway. If the Riders today are happy with the Oil they are using that is fine by me. All I am saying is that it is yet another thing that, to a large extent, has gone from Speedway Stadia and I mourn it's passing. Things like that attracted people. Nowadays we have little noise by comparison (not Speedway's fault), lack of smell etc.. Nobody will be leaving Speedway because of lack of smell or noise - but - when all the little things that irritate people about Speedway are taken in to account they may add up to enough to put people off.
  4. I would bow to your superior knowledge on this Tsunami. However - I agree with Ray that the smell in years gone by was a big part of the Speedway experience. I was away from Speedway for a few years, when my late wife and myself returned to Brough Park, her eyes lit up and she said "we are back - mmm that smell". It certainly didn't make the enjoyment but it contributed to it in a big way.
  5. We shall see Jacques - one thing i for sure. One side or the other will be right. :)
  6. I'm not getting excited - but - I AM very pleased that the Stadium is going ahead. Despite the doubters on here.
  7. Right - but the strong smell of Methanol and Castrol 'R' is still a big miss in my opinion.
  8. Then I think it will be nothing. I could, though, be wrong. Perhaps a VERY large Fine could be an alternative to a Ban?
  9. Sadly, not as much as it used to. Bloody Health & Safety.
  10. GREAT!!! :approve:  Onwards and upwards. C'mooooooooooon the mighty 'Aces' !!!
  11. I can only say that Fred Williams was a Rider I very much admired, both as a Rider and as a Man. A true gentleman. I know that has nothing to do with the Speedway Track but I was looking at the overall package. He, for me, deserves a place in my list of best Speedway Riders. Remember that both he and Peter Craven won the World Championship TWICE. I know that both of his Championships were won at Wembley where he rode, but you still have to win it - and Fred did - TWICE!!!
  12. 2007 She was told - EIGHT YEARS ago. It beggars belief. I wonder how many more Cases there are like this? This is exactly the sort of thing I meant, in the above Post, when I said the Authorities are pussyfooting around. This woman should be expelled from our Country along with a lot of others of her ilk. I have no problems with Legal Immigrants provided they are of some use to our Society - but - people like this Lady should be put on a boat or a plane and be sent back to wherever. THE SOONER THE BETTER!!! Remember while these people are here - we are paying for them.
  13. Well at least they, and other Sportsmen and Women, have a job to do - unlike some of the other ne'er do wells that we are accepting at the moment. You are right when you say that it is difficult for the Authorities but they should be clamping down really hard instead of dancing around the issue trying not to offend anyone. If the Authorities really were getting a grip, I would find the problem with Australian and American Speedway Riders easier to understand.
  14. Thank you for Posting this Blackadder. Looks like there could be further problems reading this.
  15. How about concrete - didn't I read somewhere that the Japanese had Speedway on concrete. Before I get a load of flak - I DON'T think it is a good idea. This would be around the time Jimmy Ogisu rode over here. I'm sure that gustix or somebody will be able to confirm or deny.
  16. Whilst I think that over all I would put Ivan Mauger as the best. But during my deliberations, Peter Craven, Barry Briggs and Fred Williams all came a very close second. I just thought that with all his Speedway Titles, Long Track Titles and his all round professionalism Mauger, for me, was the ultimate Speedway Rider. I reiterate that my all time favourite Rider though was 'Briggo'.
  17. I feel that too. However - he has been out of the Sport for quite a long time now. Perhaps the FIM will think that his time served so far will teach him a statutory lesson - and that he will learn from it. He does not have a good record on 'learning a lesson' but perhaps the furore he has caused this time will serve as a wake up call. I, for one, hope so.
