Redcar handed fours
The White Knight replied to RedcarRacer's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Congratulation to Kevin & Co. for getting this Event to the North East. I think it will be a tremendous day out. I hope the weather is kind. Well done Redcar and the very best of luck - you deserve it. Hopefully I'll be there. -
Sorry, I don't agree. 'Robbo' is always ready to help other Riders in the Pits, a great Team man, a great motivator, and an inspiring leader. Can Lindgren match 'Robbo's' qualifications as Captain? I guess we will have to wait and see - but I have my doubts.
-
What is the matter with 'Robbo'? He is a super Captain. I just don't get that at all.
-
Oh well. Very disappointing for me I'm afraid. Certainly not Captain material. Sorry RD. Of the Riders signed so far 'Robbo' is the natural pick as Captain. Doesn't matter who comes in - I would go for him anyway, he, at least, is a great example to the other Riders and will help them out too. Looking forward to the new Season with relish.

I think you are probably right.

So where did it all go wrong?
The White Knight replied to TonyMac's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
That would do for me Sid. We didn't win much at Sunderland but I still loved it. We did win a Four Team Tournament Competition once 1972 or 1973 (my memory has let me down on this - I think it was 1972 though). Sunderland, Berwick, Workington and Teesside took part and over the four legs we won the Silverware. Happy Memories. -
So where did it all go wrong?
The White Knight replied to TonyMac's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
In those days, the Promoters realised that the Supporters were there to be entertained - and that was all part of it. Like burning Johnnie Hoskins' Hat. All part of the fun. Apart from the actual racing, there is little else for Supporters to watch these days - apart from the Tractor. -
That's because of constant Rule tampering. The Rules never ever stay the same from one year to the next. They, at least, did some positive tampering to improve the Sport this year - axed the ridiculous Double Points Rule. I wonder how long the current Rule Book will last..................................

Farewell Brandon - A Video Fly By
The White Knight replied to SpeedwayTShirts's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I went to Brandon only once when I was visiting some relatives in the area. There was no Speedway that day either - I just wanted to see the Home of the famous Coventry 'Bees'. I can remember looking through the open gates and thinking, what a beautiful Speedway Stadium. It makes me so very, very sad watching the 'Clip' in the original Post. (Thank you for Posting that by the way Superbart). So much History gone, just like that. It is very sad, and makes me think back to 1974, the last time Speedway was seen in the Sunderland area - but at least our Stadium is still there. I really feel for all the Coventry Supporters and sincerely hope that an alternative Site for a Track can be found. Best wishes to you all. -
Indeed he did. He had the nickname 'Casper', as in 'Caspar the Ghost'. Sadly Ken has passed away. He actually rode for Sunderland 'Saints' in 1964. http://www.edinburghmonarchs.co/news-centre/article/2015-02-02/kenny-cameron-has-passed-away

Good: Speedway opening in Sunderland in 1964. Speedway opening in Sunderland in 1970. The Racing. The excitement. The spectacle. The friendships formed between Supporters. Friendly banter. Bad: Speedway closing in Sunderland in 1964. (After only NINE Meetings). Speedway closing in Sunderland in 1974. Barry Briggs being T-Boned by Bernt Persson in 1972. I had gone there supporting 'Briggo' and am sure he would have won without Persson's antics. Having to endure Double Points, which made me quit the Sport for a while. Inconsistent Refereeing decisions. Riders not returning to the Tapes immediately following a false Start. Unfriendly banter. Fatalities and Injuries. Gardening. Rule bending by some Promoters.

Robbo for me. He is a great Team man, if not him then Nichols. That's it from me. I won't hold my breath. Even if he did he would probably only pick up two or three in the next Away Match. I'm sorry if folk don't like that - but history suggests that I am right.

Here you go again SCB. You really must be a very bitter person. You are right when you say that a hell of a lot of Pensioners are well of, some of them very well off. However the obverse is also true. There are also a hell of a lot of Pensioners who are not very well off, are indeed very, very poor. Some can afford Speedway every week, but others will inevitably not be able to, and it seems that you want to make them even worse off. I doubt if there are many very well off Pensioners who attend Speedway that often so you are actually having a go at the poorer ones. Shame on you!!! You are either very bitter, very jealous or very selfish or maybe a combination of all three. Shame on you!!!

Presenters And Announcers
The White Knight replied to LondonSpeedwayFan71's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I wouldn't think anyone would listen to them anyway. I would be too busy concentrating on the racing. -
THINGS DON'T CHANGE
The White Knight replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Nothing more to be said really. Well put Rob. -
Just chuffed that we are running next year. At the moment - I don't really care who the Riders are.

I wonder why the Website is closed?

Strangely - I can vaguely remember that cover. I am almost sure I purchased that particular Annual for my son way back when.
-
HaHa - yes. How did you guess.

I know nothing.

Mauger would have to be my number one choice, purely on his professionalism, Racing record and Wordl Championships. Fundin would, on records alone be second on the list - I never saw him ride. Briggo, my personal favourite, would be third (I would like to have put him first), but you cannot overlook the achievements of those above him. Rickardsson would be fourth - again on his World Championship record. Olsen last. Never my favourite Rider, in fact he was one of the ones I liked least. I can't deny he was a very fine Rider though certainly, to my mind, not in the very top class of Riders like the ones above him. Honourable mention for Erik Gundersen who I personally rated higher than Olsen.
