  1. If Referee sticks the Green Light on at the end of the Two Minutes - they had better not hang back too long or they may find themselves left at the Tapes. It wouldn't have to happen very often for the Riders to get the message.
  2. EXACTLY!!! It is dead simple 3-2-1-0 and NO Double Points. I agree with you 100% LS.
  3. That's very honest of you tmc - and possibly the BEST reason for staying away from that era with BackTrack. Even that is questionable. SKY that is.
  4. ............ which is what I was trying to argue in the first place.
  5. No - I wasn't there. However the impression one gets of Mr. Ward is that he would be a difficult person to bully. Perhaps you used the wrong word, perhaps he was pushed in to the interview. But 'bullied' is a strong word and I just don't see Mr. Ward being 'bullied'. Sorry.
  6. Thank you very much indeed Aces51. I will use this Link regularly. :approve:
  7. Aaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww -- poor little diddums. Man enough to have a drink - but NOT man enough to say NO to an Interview. I don't think so. One thing I do think about Ward is that if he doesn't want to do something - he is perfectly capable of saying NO - or - the Australian equivalent - 'F*** off'. One thing he does not lack is courage - as can be seen by his performance on a Speedway Bike. No - being 'bullied' does not seem like Mr. Ward to me.
  8. These things are tough if you aren't on Facebook. I'll just have to pass on this one. I don't like Facebook and do not wish to be a Member.
  9. At least you have some left. Whilst me................................................................................................ Ooops - just noticed - how is Brian by the way?
  10. Only because I care passionately about a Magazine that I look forward to reading every time it comes through the door. Over something like this I believe that I am entitled to express my views as strongly as possible. I apologise if I offended you - that was not my intention - I just wanted to get my point across as strongly as I could. I stand by my views.
  11. Sunderland 1983 - Oh dear.
  12. There you have it. The VERY BEST of reasons for keeping BackTrack the way it is. Some of us, believe it or not, couldn't give a toss about the GPs. I have only a passing interest in them. If I wanted to read about them I would subscribe to 'Speedway Star' (I don't - I buy it now and again). From a reading perspective I have no interest in the GPs whatsoever - I don't like them or the System. I buy 'BackTrack' for a reason. That reason is for a nostalgic look back to a time when Speedway was very different to what it is now. I read every word in both of the Speedway Magazines to which I subscribe ('BackTrack' and 'Classic Speedway'). Why should the Magazine be changed to cover things of absolutely NO interest to me whatsoever? LEAVE IT ALONE!!! It is GREAT the way is, if it ain't broke - don't fix it. I feel VERY strongly about this......................
  13. I am coming to the conclusion that it is very difficult to put the Sport of Speedway in disrepute going by some of the alleged comments made by some of those in Authority within the Sport, WITH NOTHING BEING DONE TO STOP THEM. A very sad state of affairs.
  14. It will be no surprise to anyone that I would like 'BackTrack' to stay exactly the way it is. It is, to my mind, along with 'Classic Speedway' the most interesting of Magazines. To expand it's remit would, of necessity, water down the content for the era which the Magazine was intended. Currently, the format and general make up of the Magazine is perfect for what it purports to do. Any change would totally alter the whole feel of the Magazine. I, for one, am very much against that. Another possibility, of course, would be to start a new Magazine for the 'Nineties' onward. I bet a lot of younger Speedway Supporters would go for that - and - some of us older ones would too (like me). Finally - you cannot change what is a winning formula, to do so could mean, as you say tmc, alienating your current clientele. That would be a great shame as many of your current Subscribers will have been with you since day one - as I have myself.
  15. So very true. These people should never be forgotten because without them - some Tracks might not even be operating. A big THANK YOU to you all - everywhere.
