  1. Indeed Jim Tebby. A very distinctive Rider for Wimbledon if my memory serves me correctly. :approve:
  2. Oh hell - not again. It didn't take the injury bug long to kick in did it?
  3. My point being that 'Simmo' became one of the greats. With his natural talent of course.
  4. I thought you were a lot younger than that from your Posts Gemini.
  5. Aahh - but he spent a long while playing second fiddle to Terry Betts at Kings Lynn. When he moved to Poole he was superb. He was probably one of the most talented motorcyclists of his day. BW perhaps Mauger was not the most naturally talented Rider - but he was most certainly one of the most talented Riders I have seen. He did it the hard way and worked for his talent.
  6. I take it you never saw Mauger, Briggo, Ronnie Moore, Peter Collins, Malcolm Simmons or any of that ilk then. You can't have done.
  7. It does to me CHR. I remember Broadbanks well - a great British Rider. I wish we had a few like him now.
  8. If you are talking names for the Leagues - British League Division One, British League Division Two and British League Division Three would do for me very nicely. :approve:
  9. Sadly - I think that highly likely if things go on as they are.
  10. See Tsunami's Post below. It has been my dream for over fifty years to own a 1937 'Bentley' in that Colour. Royal Flying Corps Flying Helmet, Goggles and Silk Scarf. I have the Silk Scarf. With a Union Flag on the side of course. Sadly it will never happen - but we are all allowed to 'Dream'.
  11. By whom please? Better ignore my request too CHR.
  12. Apparently the 'Heathens' are very well supported. That is what I have read anyway. That one seems to have gone very quiet. I hope everything is progressing favourably.
  13. Some of us didn't. Not even after FORTY ONE years.
  14. I hope he does well. Hoping for a decent Season for the 'Diamonds', the 'Bears', and the 'Bandits' this Season.
  15. Hopefully, the way Cradley Heath are going in the National League, the good folk of Dudley will sit up and take notice. Belle Vue have proved that new Stadia can be built. Here's hoping.
  16. Perhaps he has been advised to ditch the idea of making a Statement. In his case - it would be the most sensible thing to do. As I said - folk have different ideas to me and that is fine. I don't think I did ask you did I? :D
  17. As you ask Oldace - The old World Final I cared about and enjoyed. I'm afraid the GPs do not do it for me at all. Looking back regarding Qualifying, you are probably right in what you say, but at least it was a fair contest. If you did not make the Final - there was always the following year. To my mind - the best Rider in the World does not have some sort of Divine Right to be in the GPs. Selection, as against Qualifying, will always be a fiddle. You could have a World Champion who rode well for one year who could be poor the next. Let them ALL fight to get in to the GPS through the Qualifiers. Then, and only then, will there be any credibility in it. This, of course, is only my opinion. I am aware that a lot of folk feel differently. That is up to them. I can only say it the way I see it.
  18. I sincerely hope that you are right, I really do.... Personally I have my doubts. He is undoubtedly a brilliant Rider - but no Rider is bigger than the Sport.
