Crumbs!!! By the Title of the Thread - I thought you meant 'Bam Bam' Bigelow. :D Remember him Bewitcher? -
I apologise Bryn and I am very pleased indeed that it was a successful Reunion.

Without doubt - one of the BEST Posts I have ever read on this Forum. 100% correct in my opinion. An interesting Theory - but I doubt if even Speedway Management Team would stoop as low as that. ........................... but then again? There could be a certain truth in that. With any luck. Well I was out last night - Entertainment was rubbish. I got home at midnight and thought I would watch the GP as I thought it would be better entertainment than that served up by the Singer I had seen at my Club. How wrong could I be - I sat in front of my Television with ever increasing disbelief in what was happening before my very eyes. It absolutely beggared belief. That something like this has come to pass is nothing more than a disgrace to the Sport I have loved for over 50 years. I hate to say 'I told you so' but I have been slated on here many times for my criticism of BSI. Since their involvement, the Sport has become all about money and not the Riders or the Supporters which is why Supporters are drifting away from Speedway year on year. After this performance I really do believe that our Sport is in it's death throes. These Temporary Tracks MUST be discontinued - they too often - do not provide good Racing and are more about fleecing good Crowds of their hard earned money than about the actual Sport. If we are going to have a GP System then they must be in Stadia where there is a permanent Speedway Track - if we have to take a chance on the Weather - then so be it - Speedway has been competing with the Weather since 1928. Finally heads must roll following last night's debacle. Firstly we should be get rid of BSI - a blight on our Sport if ever there was one. Secondly, and sadly the Race Director and the Track Curator (not sadly) should go. Frankly Speedway cannot afford all of these 'cock ups'. The Sport is on the bottom as it is - something that disgraces our Sport on World Wide Television makes Speedway a laughing stock. I AM SO VERY SAD TODAY.

I had to search for contact numbers using various means. It took me a very long time. I got help from other Riders and good folk within the Sport, to whom I will be forever grateful. Perhaps one of the Riders that you had already invited would have had Moggo's Telephone Number. That would have been a possible route for you. As I already said - I was unsuccessful with Alan Mackie. I am not trying to have a go here. Anyway - as I seem to be unintentionally causing trouble - I shall withdraw from this Thread. EDIT: I genuinely hope that you have a very successful Reunion.

Yet more injuries - it doesn't get any better.

I quite agree - but we invited loads of Riders from other visiting Tracks who rode at Sunderland as well as others who never rode at Sunderland at all. Some First Division Riders have attended in the past and every single one of them was contacted by Telephone. Remember, visiting Riders are as important as your Home Riders - for without them you would have no Speedway in the first place. Basically - I am not trying to cause trouble - mainly trying to point out that if you actually speak to someone - it is far and away the most reliable way to get your message across. I would suggest that this is proved by the Posts of both Moggo and Trap 1.

Superb Magazine yet again. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I was really looking forward to Part Two of the Tony Coupland Interview and I was certainly not disappointed. On the lighter side - I also learned to pronounce the name of Andrej Huszcza - something I could never do years ago and couldn't until I read this Article. Thank you for that. Another success Tony - roll on the next one.

Touché Starman.

Yore quite right Bryn - you most certainly do not have to justify yourself to me,nor would I want you to. I only replied to Parsloes' Post that I was sad that someone like Moggo was missed and that it didn't look good. I apologise if I have offended either you or Parsloes, however, in defense of my Posts I just felt sorry that both Trap 1 and Moggo seemed to be left out. I always 'phoned people as regards the Sunderland Reunions - that way I knew that they had got the message. You seem to have a very jaundiced attitude to anyone who disagrees with you Parsloes. I think you need to 'chill out'. No trouble intended I assure you.
-
So it could be a Single Malt.

That was the impression I got from Moggo's Post. I think anyone else would draw the same conclusion I did. It may be unpalatable to you Parsloes but I defy you to put any other slant on Moggo's comment. (See above) There may have been some crossed wires somewhere - but - that is not the way the Post reads. The Forum is for comment. I merely commented.

Not 'Wee Georgie' Wood? http://www.sclews.me.uk/wood1.htm

Perhaps if they had been on Bikes - it would have been better.

I don't know who Trap 1 is. My comment regarding the "Crumbs" remark was that I was very, very surprised that someone like Moggo was missed. I do have a little experience organizing Reunions. Myself and a friend organised at least ten annual Reunions for Sunderland Speedway, to the best of my knowledge we never missed anyone, even second halfers. Certainly we did not miss anyone as high profile as Moggo. A tremendous amount of research went in to our early Reunions to find everyone. The only former Sunderland Rider from the Seventies we could not trace was Alan Mackie. We even contacted a number of Riders from our 1964 Team....................................

Sadly Humphrey you are 100% right. It is nonetheless so sad that Speedway has sunk low in this Country, both Financially, and in it's Public standing. I don't have any answers but I do mourn for the Sport I have loved since the early Sixties.

Already a Topic on this.
