Issue 86 - IVAN MAUGER TRIBUTE SPECIAL
The White Knight replied to TonyMac's topic in Backtrack Magazine
Have just received my copy of BackTrack. I can only say what a wonderful tribute to arguably the Greatest Speedway Rider ever. Congratulations on a tremendous effort, a 'must' for all Speedway Fans in my opinion. -
No - afraid not. I was only curious, however, it doesn't really matter. Probably nowt to do with me anyway.
-
HaHa - no, I don't actually. I am not as close to the Sport as I once was.
-
I don't?
-
Still very expensive to repair though, even if they can be saved.
-
But he hasn't just been inconsistent this Season Dave. Anyway, he was brilliant on Sunday - let's hope he can keep it up. If he can - then he may be the real Number One in the Team.
-
Ken Sharples, Jim Airey, Ivan Mauger, Brian Brett.
-
We too had a real character at Sunderland - Jack Millen. Fondly remembered still by Sunderland Speedway Supporters. He will never be forgotten by those of us who survive those days.
-
Lot's of Characters in the Seventies too BOBBATH. As regards the 'Sixties' - Ivor Brown was quite a character as I recall.

People know how I feel about Lindgren, but, what a superb performance from him against, in my opinion, a better all round Team than ours. It was a wonderful display which begs the question - why oh why can't he produce that sort of form on a far more regular basis? If he did he would get no criticism from me. As for the Meeting itself, I enjoyed it. An exciting Meeting with a reasonably fair result. Ipswich do look a good Team though. Nice to meet up with Halifaxtiger and have a natter. Missed Tsunami though. There's always two weeks time, hopefully.

No - Speedway.

Redcar v Scunthorpe championship shield
The White Knight replied to Tosh1218's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Typical bloody ignorant graffiti merchants - they can't spell either. -
if you are appalled by my question Steve - then I am very surprised. I have lost count of the number of Premier League Riders alleged to have stated that they keep their best Bikes in Poland. They say that for a reason. There is more money to be made in Poland. I merely asked a question, I have no "hidden Agenda", my feelings about Lindgren are well known. I think he should be scoring better than he is away from Home. The only thing I will agree with is that he is not a Number One, we don't have one.
-
As someone else noted - SNAFU!!! Good Post. Regarding Lindgren's Equipment - where are his best Bikes - Newcastle or Sweden?

So very, very true. #ignorantmoo. -
He is under performing though RD. Perhaps a rest from the Captaincy might help. We already have an ideal replacement for that job in 'Robbo'. I think he should have been given it in the first place. What if Lindgren goes to Reserve - not an impossible scenario the way things are going for him this Season?

Ipswich vs Newcastle 26/4/18
The White Knight replied to 89buttons's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Away from Home - that is questionable. -
Both Publications are well worth the money. I always look forward to mine arriving with great anticipation. I have never been let down.

Sheffield v Newcastle 05.04.18
The White Knight replied to Cue Ball's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
But he is our Captain and Number One. Just turned out to be more sh!te than the rest. Hence, I assume the comments. Hope things change for him soon, or we are in for a long hard Season. -
Really??? I can still remember Ivan Mauger. He didn't do too bad around Brough. As someone else stated - David Bargh too.
-
Well I'm content that I can return to Speedway at Newcastle to be honest. It was looking dodgy for a time. I think the Promotion have done the best they could under very difficult circumstances. Hopefully, even with Lindgren at Number One, we might surprise a few people. I, for one, hope so. I wish the Promotion and the Riders all the very best for the coming Season. Roll on a week on Sunday.

Really sad to hear this News. Another Rider who I used to admire has left us. Rest in Peace + Alan.
-
Personally, I am going to watch him ride not sing. Don't really care about his singing tbh.
-
Hopefully that will, perhaps, ease a few minds a little. I am sure things will be sorted out in time. I am concerned but optimistic.
-
If Danny Phillips has gone to Scunthorpe as has been pointed out on here, that leaves us as the only Team in our League with Riders short. I fervently hope that something can be sorted out soon.
