  1. In this instance, to my mind, Havelock was quite right. Just imagine that there had been all four Riders in that Final Race. The way Holder skidded across the Track would probably have taken out both Coventry Riders and his Team mate as well. As it was he apologised to his Team mate. The Meeting should have been abandoned after Heat Eight I believe. Once again, as at Belle Vue, the only beneficiaries are Poole 'Pirates'. I've always taken this ante Poole thing with a pinch of salt. Now I am beginning to seriously wonder if there is something in it.
  2. What if you cannot afford to invest the amount of capital to achieve the performance/success level you are talking about. These days there are no guarantees that folk will come - even for a successful Team - though I do admit that you have a better chance. Give up - or - go bust - it has to be one or the other. Would you put your money in to the Promotion because I wouldn't. Credit should be given to those who do. We are going through some very tough times at present and I suspect that the austerity 'cuts' made by Government has affected our Fanbase. No amount of investment will bring people in if they cannot afford to go. I think that the Newcastle Promoters are right to build and maintain a Side that they can afford - any other way would lead to disaster.
  3. Actually - I quite like that idea. It could work it seems to me.
  4. Yes - but they do seem to be showing less Speedway this year. Perhaps it's financial - they've spent all their money on Football?
  5. League Matches are already pointless. If you win the League - you can then lose it in the Play Offs to a Team finishing SIXTH!! As we know to our cost........................
  6. I notice you never mention, or indeed quoted the other Section of my Post. I thought someone already stated, and I agree with them, that a Guest for a Number One is to be expected - Guests for other Team Members should not be. I really would appreciate ii if you would refrain from misrepresenting my Comments.
  7. i) Agreed. ii) Some good constructive suggestions there Humphrey. Let's hope that the 'Powers that be' read them and inwardly digest. People would be getting more Value for Money too, it might bring some folk back to the Sport.
  8. As I stated earlier - overspend and you lose your Speedway. I think that the Promoters are doing it the right way to ensure the future of Newcastle Speedway.
  9. Could be and would be are two very different things - especially in Speedway. How many times do we read, on here, about Meetings lasting for 2.5 Hours or even 3.0 Hours? THAT is only for Fifteen Heats.
  10. The only problem with that is that I don't fancy getting my Breakfast at the Track. Just imagine how long a Meeting like that would take. After having ploughed through all of the recent Posts on this Topic - I have decided that this Thread is far too complicated for me.
  11. Sounds fair enough to me. Don't you just love honesty.
  12. Nobody is saying there wasn't orion. However, in the olden days they were very rare indeed. In the British League Division 2 you could go a whole Season without ever seeing a Guest Rider at your Club. Even you will have to admit that these days Guests are the norm and not the exception. Read carefully the last Paragraph of iainb's excellent Post. He gives a number of very valid reasons for the proliferation of Guests. A suggestion, since you asked for one, could be that every Club have a Number 8. They must use him before any Guests are used. That would not stop Guests but it would cut them down quite a bit.
  13. No - what I am saying is that it against my principles. Others have different principles to which they are entitled. I don't say anyone else shouldn't go - but this is my form of Protest.
  14. I know that you and I think differently on this Tsunami. I just cannot see any reason for certain Rules - and that's the problem.
  15. Weather looking great in Sunderland. I hope it is an enjoyable Meeting for everyone this evening. With a 'Diamonds' win of course.
  16. Were they now. Are you Mystic Meg? You can tell when people are lying to themselves? Clever that......................... Because when I get angry about it, which I do, I, as I have already said can rant and rave about it to myself - and not do so in Public.
  17. I remember Arthur Price BC. A very good Rider as was Carl Glover. Those were indeed the days!!
  18. I'm sorry you are wrong. I don't go anymore because of 'Double Points'. How many more people, who do not go on Speedway Forums, have left the Sport as I have because of various Rule changes over the years?
  19. I do not agree with any Tactical Ride - no matter how it is conceived.
  20. Well, certainly a hell of a lot more people went to Speedway, when those stupid Rules applied (as you put it), than do now. Perhaps those 'old people' that you are so quick to denigrate and sneer at have a point. You should also remember that without those 'old people' who supported the Sport for years - you would, in all probability, have no Speedway to support at all. The difference is that I am not supporting something that I am so totally against in principle. I can watch it, get annoyed at the Black and White Helmet coming out without losing my temper and making a fool of myself at the Track. I would love to go to Speedway again- but I won't as long as the 'Double Points' Rule exists.
  21. We shall see. Provided there are no injuries involved I would expect Tai to finish ahead of Holder in the GPs at the end of the Season. Should he do so, then perhaps Tai's decision to miss the Elite League this year will have helped.
