  1. i) Agreed. ii) Some good constructive suggestions there Humphrey. Let's hope that the 'Powers that be' read them and inwardly digest. People would be getting more Value for Money too, it might bring some folk back to the Sport.
  2. As I stated earlier - overspend and you lose your Speedway. I think that the Promoters are doing it the right way to ensure the future of Newcastle Speedway.
  3. Could be and would be are two very different things - especially in Speedway. How many times do we read, on here, about Meetings lasting for 2.5 Hours or even 3.0 Hours? THAT is only for Fifteen Heats.
  4. The only problem with that is that I don't fancy getting my Breakfast at the Track. Just imagine how long a Meeting like that would take. After having ploughed through all of the recent Posts on this Topic - I have decided that this Thread is far too complicated for me.
  5. Sounds fair enough to me. Don't you just love honesty.
  6. Nobody is saying there wasn't orion. However, in the olden days they were very rare indeed. In the British League Division 2 you could go a whole Season without ever seeing a Guest Rider at your Club. Even you will have to admit that these days Guests are the norm and not the exception. Read carefully the last Paragraph of iainb's excellent Post. He gives a number of very valid reasons for the proliferation of Guests. A suggestion, since you asked for one, could be that every Club have a Number 8. They must use him before any Guests are used. That would not stop Guests but it would cut them down quite a bit.
  7. No - what I am saying is that it against my principles. Others have different principles to which they are entitled. I don't say anyone else shouldn't go - but this is my form of Protest.
  8. I know that you and I think differently on this Tsunami. I just cannot see any reason for certain Rules - and that's the problem.
  9. Weather looking great in Sunderland. I hope it is an enjoyable Meeting for everyone this evening. With a 'Diamonds' win of course.
  10. Were they now. Are you Mystic Meg? You can tell when people are lying to themselves? Clever that......................... Because when I get angry about it, which I do, I, as I have already said can rant and rave about it to myself - and not do so in Public.
  11. I remember Arthur Price BC. A very good Rider as was Carl Glover. Those were indeed the days!!
  12. I'm sorry you are wrong. I don't go anymore because of 'Double Points'. How many more people, who do not go on Speedway Forums, have left the Sport as I have because of various Rule changes over the years?
  13. I do not agree with any Tactical Ride - no matter how it is conceived.
  14. Well, certainly a hell of a lot more people went to Speedway, when those stupid Rules applied (as you put it), than do now. Perhaps those 'old people' that you are so quick to denigrate and sneer at have a point. You should also remember that without those 'old people' who supported the Sport for years - you would, in all probability, have no Speedway to support at all. The difference is that I am not supporting something that I am so totally against in principle. I can watch it, get annoyed at the Black and White Helmet coming out without losing my temper and making a fool of myself at the Track. I would love to go to Speedway again- but I won't as long as the 'Double Points' Rule exists.
  15. We shall see. Provided there are no injuries involved I would expect Tai to finish ahead of Holder in the GPs at the end of the Season. Should he do so, then perhaps Tai's decision to miss the Elite League this year will have helped.
  16. Obviously you think there is a possibility that Lewis is telling the truth. You indicate that in the highlighted sentence. Perhaps, because of that, you could cut him some slack? As I said earlier, I have modified my views because of this and because his actions would seem to be symptomatic of Depression. I hope like hell he doesn't suffer from it, but if he does, he needs our sympathy not our condemnation.
  17. Not very successfully it appears at the moment. Perhaps Tai has struck the right balance after all. All you have to do is look at their relative positions in the GP Series.
  18. I could never be accused of that Humphrey. I certainly agree with you about that.
  19. Well I haven't been to a Speedway Meeting for about a year now. I will not return until the 'Double Points' fiddle is history. As soon as it is removed - I will return, until then then - I am a Television viewer of Speedway only. Never a truer word spoken. The 'Play Offs' is another one of my hates. As I have said many times - it often cheats the League Champions out of the League Championship for some other undeserving Club. ................ and some people say that the Grand Prix System has no effect on British Speedway.
  20. A bit cynical that Humphrey. Philip is trying to communicate an answer to a question he was asked. He has given, what seems to me, a very logical and fair assessment of where his Magazine is standing on Costs, Circulation etc. He should be given credit for that. You know me - I am VERY anti the GPs - but - I do also believe in fairness.
  21. Well said. I have modified my views, more than somewhat, since I heard that Lewis Bridger was suffering from Depression.
  22. I've always admired PK. I was well chuffed when he rode for Belle Vue. He still rides very well and is a tremendous example to young Riders on how to conduct yourself in public. My wife used to love his Swedish/Midland accent as well. He is a true 'Star' of Speedway.
  23. Smashing Tribute LS. Thank you. Ian.
