  1. I bet you didn't expect me to agree with you Shads - but I do. Only make it 13 Heats. Happiness is 40-38. :approve:
  2. George and Terry Barclay rode together for Sunderland 'Stars'.
  3. I thought there was a touch of unfair riding by Morris. Had Lambert fallen because of Morris hitting him I reckon Morris should have been excluded. There is 'hard' riding, 'fair' riding and 'hard fair' riding. I don't think what morris did was fair or hard - I thought it was bordering dirty. Lambert was terrific last night.
  4. I remember Arthur Miller.
  5. Because, even if your figure of 50% (which I contest) is right - that still leaves 50% of Supporters were happy to watch the 'Second Halves' - I know I was. I know too that a lot of the time the Result of the Rider of the Night Final was arranged beforehand - but I still saw some terrific Races. Plus, as others have said, it was a great introduction to Speedway Racing for the Juniors. I, for one, mourn the passing of the 'Second Halves'..
  6. Occasionally though - you will be right as you are about Speedway.
  7. And there's the rub. Perhaps if they went back to the so called 'old format' Speedway might be more successful. It worked then - from my perspective the 'new format' doesn't seem to be dragging people in to the Tracks does it? Perhaps in the somewhat pathetic attempts to 'move with the times' Speedway has lost it's meaning to a lot of people. There is an old saying "if it ain't bust - don't fix it" - Speedway has tried to fix it and look where we are now....
  8. I reckon that both Pusey and Wilson would be as good as King and better than both Cook and Barker. There were so many more that were way better though. EDIT: A good name for a Pub that. 'The Cook and Barker'.
  9. Point is that Pusey and Wilson would be way better than all but a couple of Riders in the British Final nowadays. Take out Woffinden, Harris and possibly Nicholls and I would back Pusey or Wilson against any of the rest. If they had a good night, which all Riders do - either of them could win it these days. Difficult to compare eras though - I only know that the British Riders I watched in the 60's and 70's seem, to me, to be far superior than anything we have today apart from probably Woffinden.
  10. Too right there is. Injuries are coming thick and fast in Speedway these days. There simply has to be a reason for it - especially as we now have Air Fences which certainly help avoid a lot of injuries. More Riders than ever are getting hurt. WHY? The Tracks haven't changed that much in Eighty odd year - but the bikes?.....................................................
  11. If pushed in to choosing a Father/Son partnership - I would go for Phil/Jason Crump marginally ahead of John/Chris Louis. Just an opinion, because it is very difficult to choose in different eras.
