Very sad to see this. I have been to Scunthorpe a few times and it is a cracking venue for Speedway. I do not think that lack of interest will be the main problem. Why do I say that? I honestly believe that Government 'Cuts' in their Austerity drive has and will have a dreadful effect on ordinary people's income. I think the truth for all Speedway Tracks is that more and more people are struggling to put food on the table. Speedway has to come a long way behind that and other necessities of life in their priorities. If people are deserting a great Track like Scunthorpe I reckon there is something wrong. I just think a lot of people nowadays will not be able to afford their Speedway. Sadly, in these days of austerity, that is a fact of life. Other Sports will feel the effect too.

I don't know many black people that is true. I do know some though, none of whom, as far as I know, would have a problem with the Somerset 'Rebels' Flag. We, I thought, were discussing the Confederate Battle Flag and it's influence and significance I stated my views clearly that it should be Banned and gave my reasons as to why. You obviously haven't grasped the point that we are discussing something that has various connotations, various ways of looking at it. The only thing I have speculated on is the view of black people, granted I only know a few of them, but those I do know would probably laugh at this discussion we are having and say we were both a couple of idiots. Fluff can be very irritating and annoying HT. It is provable that it was better in the past. You only have to look at the number of really TOP CLASS Riders who ply their profession in this Country these days compared to then. Or will you contest that as well. i) You are judging me and my motives - you can't do that. You don't know me. ii) Tell me any other way I can make my point other than voting with my feet. I hate the Rule and I get angry every time I see the 'Black and White' Helmet Cover. I don't see why I should pay to get myself angry - do you? I am supposed to go to Speedway to enjoy myself - not get annoyed and upset. Suffice to say that I am comfortable with my decision. It's over a year now since I went to a Meeting, and I am missing it less and less. Perhaps I, like so many others, am lost to the Sport for good. iii) I have complained to THREE different Promoters regarding the Double Points Rule. Much good it did me.

You do have a good point there. The opposition is nowhere near as strong, in quantity of very top Riders, today as was the case for many years in this Country.

Very true but I would suggest that the odds are good. Whether he will get as many Titles as Peter Craven or even the none English Ivan Mauger - we will have to wait and see.

Perhaps that is because there is very little good to say about Speedway at present E I Addio. Falling Crowds, silly Rules all contribute to the way Speedway is going downhill. There are lots of people who have their heads in the sand - but - and it is the first time I have said this, others have said it on here often enough, our Sport is dying. It gives me no pleasure at all to say this. You imply some people on here just moan for the sake it, you are wrong. A lot of people moan on here because they can see the way Speedway is going - to hell in a handcart, and like me are desperately sad about it. I passionately love Speedway but I refuse to go any more. Why is this? In my case, solely because of the Double Points Rule, I know that I am not alone in this. Other folk have other reasons, poor Stadia, disgusting Toilets, Promoters taking Supporters for granted, Promotions bending or even breaking Rules to suit themselves, constant changing of Rules, no consistency in Refereeing. I could go on. When something is done to address these and other wrongs perhaps, just perhaps, some people would return. If they scrapped the Double Points Rule altogether - I know I would.

Well I'm afraid I do, you just have to read some of the Posts on here to see that. I cannot give you answers to questions for which I have no answers. The only Poster I can state, with any degree of certainty, the motive for a Post - is me. It is not for me to question who Posts what on the Forum only that they are allowed to do so without 'fear or favour'. I will defend anyone's right to Post what they like - I just think that all the nastiness is unnecessary. I have done my best to be honest with you - you may not like what I say but there you have it. I had probably better stop replying to Posts - someone has already accused me of "making things worse". That was NOT my intention.
