  1. No problem TG. You are right - the Owen Brothers did dominate that League at that time. The Worralls are still young and could develop in to a very potent force as well.
  2. I genuinely hope that something can be sorted out for him. Well done too for Posting this on here where someone can see it who may be able to offer some help.
  3. I don't. Would it not be possible for the Club to try to arrange a lift for him. I'm not being funny Bryn - but would that not be possible?
  4. Aaaahhh - Thank you for that whka1. So I got the Heat Leader bit right anyway.
  5. I couldn't care less how central (to the Country) it is - I am just delighted that Belle Vue have taken the initiative and have invested in the new Stadium. It took a lot of courage, in these times of austerity, for anyone in Speedway to attempt something like this, especially considering the parlous state of our Sport at present. As Belle Vue is my Team - the new Stadium is the centre of the Country(in the Speedway sense) for me. :)
  6. If you are referring to my previous Post - I don't like being called a liar by a Poster who does not know me. orion has called me a liar two or three times now. I only responded to his somewhat pathetic attempts to read my character on this Forum. That is very true BW - I was. I put up with it as long as I could and then walked away. I give you credit for having more intelligence than the Poster who called me a liar. But I assure you, in all honesty, that the Tactical Ride is what finished me going to the Speedway. You can ask anyone who stood around me at Brough Park, a number whom Post on this Forum. They know the Tactical Ride got to me. They know that is why I don't/won't attend. They know that the Tactical Ride is the sole reason for my none attendance. Sure there are lots of other things I don't like in Speedway - but crucially - none of them have influenced my decision. I have done my best to try to explain all of this to you, as honestly as I can, and possibly to others who don't understand my reasoning. I hope that you will respect that.
  7. Great News for Lewis and his Family. Great News too for all of us Speedway Supporters who only wish for the well being and safety of all Speedway Riders. Keep fighting Lewis - we are all rooting for you and you are in my prayers.
  8. I remember that. I also believe that Senior Service (my smoke of choice until I gave up in 1969) can still be purchased from certain outlets. I'm not sure where though.
  9. 'Cardinal' if you don't mind - I've promoted myself. As for some of the comments on this Thread - to be totally honest, I have wasted my time reading them. If this was a kindergarden you would all be put on the naughty step.
  10. You just don't get it do you? The bloody Tactical Ride drove me away from Speedway - is that plain enough for you. I can't spell it out any clearer, I have made it as simple as I can so that, hopefully, even you can understand. I was/am NOT lying to myself - I have stated that I did not like, or agree with the Tactical Substitute but I put up with it. I have also stated that I hate and detest the Tactical Ride which is as close to legal cheating as you can get. I finally got so fed up with it I walked away. So YES orion - the Tactical Ride has cost Speedway at least ONE supporter and probably many more who don't come on this Forum. But go on living in cloud cuckoo land orion - but don't blame me when Speedway Tracks are closing around the Country. You are very good, I notice, at trying to shoot people down but not so clever when it comes to coming up with good positive ideas for the benefit of the Sport.
  11. I'm not getting your abbreviations whka1. Perhaps it's late for me. HL = Heat Leader perhaps........................
  12. You are wrong I'm afraid BW. Speedway Support has dropped by at least ONE (because of the Tactical Ride) - me. So that makes Tony Mac and rmc correct. As I have said before - I know there are more than just me. That, however, is for the other Thread.
  13. Perhaps Lioness was saying it isn't a good idea to judge people too hastily. A trap I seem to fall in to on a regular basis.
  14. Do you have to be so aggravating sometimes BW. No need for it.
  15. Well I don't recall seeing any Meetings without Tactical Substitutes. My memory is usually pretty good regarding Speedway years ago. Don't ask me what I had for Lunch yesterday though......................
  16. i) Never. ii) Mine neither. (51 years of attendance). I just stated the way I think it ought to be. That is my opinion and I stand by it.
  17. I'm not sure of an advert for one Meeting - but - something like that advertising Speedway in general, perhaps with a list of Tracks and their locations might not be money wasted. Basically I think something like that would certainly help raise awareness of the Sport. Whether or not it would encourage new Supporters to go along to their local Track and give it a try - I don't know. It is certainly open to question. I don't see anything wrong with someone attempting to make a sensible, positive suggestion either. You ought to be able to do that on this Forum without all the clever clogs shooting you down in flames. Perhaps you all have good positive suggestions - why not try Posting them?
  18. My whole argument E I Addio, is that I don't want either the Tactical Substitute or the Tactical Ride. Meetings should be decided by Points scored on the Track. That is the sole thrust of my argument.
  19. You are probably right about it's ultimate detriment. I used to love the 'Speedway Mail' - it wasn't afraid to speak out or criticise those in authority if it was warranted. The only Newspaper I've ever read from cover to cover - it was that good. I read it every week if I remember correctly. Sometimes the newsprint came off on my hands. I didn't mind though because I was getting value for money. A great Speedway Paper - sadly missed.
