Don't worry - I won't. These Records need to be right.
-
My apologies - you are right. Apologies to BackTrack too. I have not read the Carter book either and I won't be doing so.
-
I quite agree with you. Penhall should never have said it that way in the Magazine though. I don't blame BackTrack for printing it though - they were merely quoting the words of their columnist.

Nice Fella!!! :nono:

Work Permits - A Novel Approach
The White Knight replied to AlanF's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I give up. As I sad, it was an idea. Perhaps you are right and it isn't a great idea. I was looking for a way to filter out the Riders who were not so good in order that we only got the best of the yougsters. -

The only thing I can add to what I have aready said is that I was talking about new untried Australian Riders - not the Stars. It was only an idea to find the best of young Australian talent for our Premier League. -

(Sigh) .................................. and you can be tasteless at times - but I don't let that bother me so you will just have to put up with my stupidity I'm afraid. Because we are talking about bringing over untried Australians. If we had a Competition as I suggest - the very top Riders of said Competition would qualify to come here. -

You can be pedantic at times. My suggestion is for Riders who are of Premier League standard or worse. NOT Australian Champions. They would be riding in order to qualify to race here - not win Championships. -
I agree, Mauger was a better Rider - and has the World Titles to prove it.
-
I'll just say that there were other American Riders I liked better - and leave it at that.

Work Permits - A Novel Approach

Basically it would be exactly the same Riders in all of the Meetings. Hope that helps. -
R.I.P. + Derek.

I don't see it as taking delight. I detect a sadness for what this great Sport of ours used to be and is no longer. You cannot question the fact though that Crowds are indeed dropping (so we are told) - now if this is the case and it continues for a long time then yes - Speedway will die. I take no pleasure in saying that - it is just an unarguable fact.

Qualifying Meetings I meant. A set of Meetings which would be run to get Riders qualified to ride over here. Say five Meetings at five different Tracks and the top five or ten or whatever number you like qualify to ride in Britain. It is only an idea. -
Should Roscoe Step Down As Gb Team Manager ?
The White Knight replied to KIRKYLANE's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think Roscoe should stay in his Post. Chopping and changing Managers never does any good (look at some Football Clubs I could mention). If you want success you have to be patient, and remember that the Team Manager is only as good as the material (Riders) he has to work with. Roscoe has won the League with Swindon, so he knows how to win. He must be given the chance to do it for England. -
Aaahhh - Hello The Doctor. In answer to your question, about two years ago. (I suspect you already know that though - don't you?). Nothing threatening in my Post at all - it doesn't threaten anyone. (I think even Mr. Snackette would back me up on that). It does however, rather forcefully I admit, point out that this is not a Football Forum it is a Speedway Forum and that there is no place for a gloating Football Post put on, only to irritate, annoy or 'wind up' Speedway Supporters on here. On another Thread you certainly threatened a Poster. I have certainly never said I would 'knock on anyone's door' - in the context of what you were saying on that Thread that, to me, and I suspect others Members, did constitute a threat. It isn't the first time you have done it either. I would be obliged if you would not accuse me of doing something unpleasant that you yourself seem to take pleasure in. Thank you. Ian.

Work Permits - A Novel Approach

I would imagine most of these Riders that you talk about could not afford such a Trip, on the offchance of getting in to the top group of your Competition. A very long way to come for an Engine Failure, Tape Exclusion or Fall to cost a place in the top group and you go home having spent a lot of money for nothing. What might possibly work would be to hold the Meetings at various Tracks in Australia but would British Promoters be prepared to invest in them. Personally - I doubt it. -
Well my Post was made with only the thoughts of Jimmy in mind. Perhaps the Thread can now go back to that.

Plymouth 2016
The White Knight replied to torpointfanatic22's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Me neither. A great signing for the 'Devils' as far as I am concerned. But, then again, I have always liked Charlie Gjedde. I wish him nothing but well and I will be watching from afar to follow his progress. It will take time and we must be patient - but he will come good barring injuries. -
This is supposed to be a Discussion Forum. Of course people are going to comment on the part of the Post they are interested and ignore the rest. I would imagine that is the case on most Post replies. This is very boring so, instead of setting up a sensible Thread and then just being pedantic - why don't you just leave it to those who wish to discuss the Issue you raised and leave it at that.

Work Permits - A Novel Approach
The White Knight replied to AlanF's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Big thing for me about this suggestion is Cost. I cannot see British Promoters paying for travel to get these Riders and Equipment over here and, to be honest, I wouldn't expect it of them. The Riders themselves will not pay for the Trip, as Humphrey says, without some form of Contract. Whilst in theory this could be a good idea. Practically it is unworkable. So for me - a none starter I'm afraid. -
If that bloody Poster isn't a provocation to all Speedway Fans everywhere - I don't know what is? Take the sodding thing off this 'SPEEDWAY' Forum. If this upsets you - I couldn't give a toss - you have upset me with that image. How insensitive can you get. I've only got two words for you mate - and one of them is - OFF!!!

Explain please PW?
