  1. And what does B4E's say? It was a KOC meeting, wasn't it? Edit: yeah, I should've said Mellgren not Wethers.
  2. Could someone who was at this meeting confirm from a programme (not from updates or other websites) who came first in heat 5 please? Workington's website and updates say Aspegren, but the SCB report and Rye's website say Mellgren.
  3. Two GPs in a row I had bets on Janowski. I give up on him and this happens...
  4. Tricky, this, as I reckon most of them are pretty much bang on the money and not going to gain me many points here. So Iooking at it from a competitive point of view, I'm going to be brave and bet: £180 on Zagar for more please. (Gulp!) £20 on Pedersen more.
  5. Pedersen £120 more NKI £20 less Doyle £20 less Janowski £20 more THJ £20 more
  6. For such an "unimportant challenge meeting" a lot of top riders seemed to take it pretty seriously.
  7. This is a good question. Does anyone know the answer? SCB?
  8. Speedway audience, and of course it doesn't mean a thing, hence the tone of the rest of my post. It was an observation that a lot of British speedway viewers seem to think The Polish set-up is the one to emulate for some reason, but I, personally, think there are better league systems.
  9. In contrast, Polish speedway does seem to be getting increasingly popular amongst the British audience. Whether that's because it's now available to watch online, because they attract the riders who have left our leagues, or because the tracks seem to produce better racing, I'm not sure. Personally I've never bought into all the hype about Poland and prefer the Swedish and Danish leagues.
  10. From Twitter: Chris Holder ‏@Chris_Holder23 Early morning practice! Track looks better then yesterday!
  11. Hang on a minute. Isn't there some sort of "if you haven't ridden you can't comment" comment to be had here?
  12. Janowski £20 more Gollob £50 more THJ £20 more Holder £20 less
  13. Doing a bit of research on Nelson but I'm getting conflicting information, so I'm hoping someone can shed some light on a couple of things. Nelson moved to Odsal in 1970. Why? Was it poor crowds and fixture congestion as stated in Homes of British Speedway, or a walkout, as suggested in a post on the defunct speedway site? Also, HoBS says "they (Nelson) completed their fixtures as Bradford Northern." This suggests they were still their own team, but the league table suggests the two teams merged?
  14. Some impressive work there, PPP. You (or anyone) don't happen to have details for Halifax and Wimbledon's track records, do you, please?

  16. I really don't think the FIM can legitimately make that happen. As far as I can make out, Darcy was still licensed at the time, therefore riding within the rules, and that seems to be about the end of any authority they have over telling SVEMO or the BSPA to remove his points. Still waiting to be proved wrong though, and hope we get some official clarification from the respective bodies.
  17. Nicki seems to be the only one who has gone against the grain with this, and is sticking with the old fashioned method. Last year he was #5, this year he's #3.
  18. Do the FIM actually have any authority to cancel his points scored in the league during those 10 days? Can the BSPA just say as far as they are concerned those two results stand?
  19. Many thanks for that. They were the missing pieces I needed to tie up the season so I really appreciate your help.
  20. Having trawled through all the Speedway Stars and compiled the fixtures I have two duplicates for the BL, but no missing fictures, so am assuming they were just incorrectly labelled. Can anyone tell me which of these was the ACTUAL British League result for that year please? 28.05.79..Cradley 55-23 Hull 28.07.79..Cradley 41-37 Hull and 25.07.79..Poole 39-39 Swindon 03.10.79..Poole 37-29 Swindon
  21. I don't suppose anyone is interested, but on the off-chance, I sat and worked it out, so may as well share. 22. Does anyone have, or know where I can find, the current heat format for the Czech league please?
