Premier League Predictions 2016
ZODIAK replied to SomersetBlue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Glasgow and Particularly Workington look the pick to me. Fancy Worky for the title. -
I like the current logo and I also like the previous one with Ipswich Witches Speedway Club on it. New sponsor and new website so I suppose a full refresh is the order of the day. Fortnight today P&P. Is it me or has the winter seemed to drag on longer than normal? Seems an age since Christmas and new year! Really looking forward to the Spring, new speedway season, lighter and longer days and warm sunshine!
-
Still waiting on this.. Fortnight tomorrow press and practice and three weeks Thursday the first meeting. Soon be time for a Witches Scunny meeting thread!
-
Boxall is a waste of space. Clearly doesn't have the commitment necessarry to make signing him a worthwhile gamble anymore.
-
CVS has already confirmed the two fixed race nights for 2017 so I'm sure Chris Louis will already have an idea on what he wants to do.
-
Kerr and Risager are both white liners and will possible be chasing the same line. I'd partner Covatti with Risager at 3 and 4, and Lewis Kerr at 5. Covatti and Risager could be a fruitful partnership IMO, Covatti loving that outside line and Risager the inside.

Swindon 2016 - A New Era Starts...we Thought..
ZODIAK replied to dump that clutch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
People shouldn't get too hung up when it comes to riders' ages. Tungate despite being older, is a lot less experienced when it comes to speedway. -
Well done Nico Covatti. Argentinian champ 2016.
-
Rohan Tungate doubles up with Swindon. If the rules haven't changed this winter, Somerset Should have priority on fixtures...

Swindon 2016 - A New Era Starts...we Thought..
ZODIAK replied to dump that clutch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
No he hasn't. His average dropped last year. The previous season he got to number 1 so do a little research before posting your usual guff. -
Its a shame there's not more like him around these days to be honest. You're right he is worth the admission money alone. I wouldn't swap him for any other rider in the league and I mean that.
-
That's Covatti all over that. Pure entertainment.
-
Yes, that's correct.
-
Even if he doesn't improve, his average will increase just by the fact he's riding at reserve rather than the main body of the team like he did for Sheffield. People are being a little unfair judging Paco here. He's a young lad who was thrown in at the deep end mid-season in a tough league in the main body of the side with little preparation. He's now had a full winter to prepare for the season ahead, has now had a taste of what to expect, and will I'm sure be more comfortable with a reserve berth. Let's be honest being chucked straight in at number 2 with the big hitters is not the ideal introduction to British speedway for a young lad is it? I still maintain that Castagna is on a bargain average of just over 3, and will be closer to the 5 mark than 4 by the end of the season. More than happy to be vaulted on that.
-
You're like a broken record you've said this before already. Bored with trolling the Peterborough thread so thought you'd come and have another go on here? Castagna struggled last season no doubting that, but he was brought in mid season and thrown in at the deep end in the main body of the team. He's now on an average of just over 3 instead of 5, much more attractive and he'll be riding at reserve instead of the main body to boot. There isn't another 3 pointer in any other line up I'd rather have than Castagna. He'll put a point and a half on minimum IMO and will be pushing a 5 point average which is the name of the game. Plenty also thought Covatti was shyte when we signed him last year also by the way. Not saying Castagna will reproduce what Covatti did, but let's wait and see what happens.
-
Okay.
-
Not sure I'd be overly happy with that if I were a Peterborough fan. Ok nice to see the commitment from him and fair play, but there's the excuse gone to strengthen up.
-
They've done very well with the fixture list IMO. Interesting that they've also got no individual meetings listed, even provisionally. Have they decided to knock the 16 lapper on the head? It's been on the fixture list for donkeys years but not this year.
-
Chris Louis said a few months ago that work on the new home straight stand was being carried out next winter.
-
Our newest recruit Danyon Hume is fixed up in the NL with Birmingham. Good luck to the lad it'll be interesting to follow his progress this season. Chris Louis certainly has high hopes for him it seems.
-
If he then goes and signs a "contract" in another league that now means he'll miss a minimum of 9 meetings for the club he signed his first contract with, then yes I would. Tough!
-
Hume is now an Ipswich asset. The Official website made a typo with "loan" instead of transfer, but this has now been amended.
-
The off season is dragging on a bit like..
-
Hats off to the Louis' for shelving the bank holiday meetings. Those two meetings are their biggest meetings as far as revenue is concerned so it's a brave call. We've all had a moan about missing riders though so fair play for doing something about it. Looking at the fixture list, I can't see too many clashes so they've obviously worked hard this year to try and eradicate the problem of double uppers. Nice to see a fair few Saturday meetings as well so hopefully a few bumper crowds and plenty bring the kids along for some Saturday night speedway to help offset any financial loss of the two BH meetings.

Oh look at me again everybody aren't I great!!
