Peterborough V Ipswich 28th March 2pm
ZODIAK replied to ZODIAK's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Risager isn't too shabby here either so I'd expect a reasonable amount from him, King and Covatti. As you say Kerr's first return I wonder if that will play on his mind. He seems a very strong character so hopefully not. I actually think we generally have a stronger top 5 than Peterborough, just not at the showground! As I said, Grondal should rack up the points at reserve here and that will be the deciding factor in my opinion. Will probably see him taking one of Lamberts programmed rides too if things are tight. -
Looking forward to the Easter Monday trip to the showground. TBH I've changed my mind about the Panthers. When they first declared their team I thought it looked average at best but the more I look at it the more I like it. Just about all of them go very well around the showground and they'll be a tough nut to crack at home all season. Wouldn't be surprised if they go unbeaten at home. Grondal at reserve should have a field day in this one and that will be the difference IMO. Hopefully we put on a good show and keep it close and maybe pinch a point. (Snat ch didn't make it through the filter LOL) We know King loves the place but I'm unsure how the likes of Kerr and Sargeant have gone here in the past? Any Idea of the Panthers riding order?

One gripe about the new website, the fixture list is a pain. Not sure why all the home fixtures are listed first followed by all the away meetings. Would much prefer the fixture list to be in the correct order.

Agree Baldy only the 3 from Mortens rides so as expected we missed him today. Lots of positives from this though. Our top 5 (with Morten in it) is potent we just need to get a few of the lads going. As I said this morning Paco scored paid 8 here last year from his first ever visit so somethings not right with him and both King and Sargeant are looking under powered. Sargeant looking better on Kings machinery in his last two so a few of the lads are obviously having a few machinery issues. Every confidence they'll soon get that right though and we can use these LC meetings to get things sorted ready for the PL campaign. Great to see Nico flying again and also Lewis Kerr settling back in very nicely after his crash last year. Onwards and upwards.

You know more about Riss than me Scotsman and obviously followed him more closely than I. But from afar, it seemed he was getting a lot of stick for the first half of the season. Not sure how you or anyone can say Riss is "streets ahead" of Castagna, when Castagna has only ridden 9 meetings in the UK whilst Riss rode the whole season! Yes that seems to have been missed but never mind. I just find it a bit strange how much the knives are out in force for a lad that has only ridden 9 meetings in the UK, and came over mid season and was shoved in the number 2 berth from the off! Extremely harsh. His two appearances at Foxhall were appalling though it has to be said, and he's going to have to master his home circuit. But Christ let's give the lad a fair crack of the whip to do it!

Paco scored paid 8 here last season and it was the first time he's ever ridden the place to my knowledge. Was up against a strong home pairing in Alex Davies and Nike Lunna as well so hopefully we'll see a much better showing from him. It's Foxhall where he needs to get going. CL did say during the winter that Paco had told him after the 16 lapper that he didn't like the track and struggled to get around so Thursday's score wasn't a big surprise. He may never be a Foxhall track specialist, but you'd still expect some better scoring after a few more meetings when he should be more at ease with it. Let's not forget that Paco only had 7 or 8 meetings at the end of last year and is seeing tracks for the first time. Erik Riss is a similar standard to Castagna abroad and most were writing him off at the half way stage last season as he was pretty woeful too but he got better as the season wore on and ended up looking a handy rider. Sissis another example. Couldn't buy a point for a big chunk of last year before slowly improving and scoring well before his injury. Need to give Paco time before getting on the lads back.

I think a few need to calm down a bit here. Pretty concerning I agree especially as I still maintain Scunny are one of the weaker sides in the league so it's obviously a concern to get turned over comfortably at home by them. But it's one meeting and an opening one at that. Let's give it a few more at least before claiming anyone was right or wrong about the team/certain riders. The track was a disgrace though I'm sorry. The P&P pictures looked to show that the track was devoid of any decent material and so it proved last night. Not blaming the track man, after all he can only work on what he's given to work with. And that's blatantly not a lot! -

One of the biggest question marks for me tomorrow will be Lewis Kerr. It will be his first competitive meeting since that awful crash so it'll be interesting to see if he's tentative, or whether he's on the pace straight away. He himself say's the crash hasn't bothered him but I suppose he would say that. The proof of the pudding will be tomorrow! Remember last time out he was excellent and hit 14 I think it was? -

Auty and Klindt look a handful at one and two for Scunny. You'd expect King to have the measure of both of them but might be a tough start for Sargeant. Wilkinson at reserve will also be a danger, could well see him getting 7 rides. -
I've a feeling you won't be doing any walloping anywhere this season Scotsman

Hand on heart it's never once crossed my mind, I can see everything just fine. The speakers on the other hand! I stand just in front of the Garden Bar baldy.
-
Think some of you need to get to specsavers! I can honestly say I've never sat at Foxhall and thought "I wish there was better lighting as I'm struggling to see"..

The point has been made that the colours were made this year with the new sponsor in mind, fair enough. But I actually think the sponsor name on the suits actually blends in and pretty much disappears! It would have stood out much more IMO if the tippers "R" Us logo was on a different colour, lighter background. White for example. I like the colour and design to be honest. Yes there are two different shades of yellow but no big deal.

Great shift by all the lads @ipswichspeedway test today. @DRitchings is grabbing his chance with both hands #veryimpressed Tweet from CL.

I used to love F1 back in the day when the likes of Senna, Prost and Mansell done battle. These days it's become a complete bore fest.

A dry week so all systems go for Thursday. I know sometimes early results can be a bit misleading, but IMO Scunny look one of the weaker sides in the league so if we can't see them off comfortably enough at home, alarm bells would be ringing already. Need a good start and we need to make Foxhall a fortress again. Too many sides had a comfortable evening last year and it was that poor home form that cost us a play off place in the end. -
Lewis Kerr has pulled out of the Ben Fund this evening with flu. Shame was hoping he'd get some competitive laps in before next week.
