This^^^ I'd forget Richardson after he quit and rather put a youngster in,Auty could be an exceptional rider with the right people around him and advised what choices/directions to make If not then carry on with Barker,I think its done home good in the past

Monster Energy Sponsorship
Gearhead replied to emerald tyke's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think now Monster are involved the Series will go on to a new level,I'm pretty sure they'll obviously make a big show of Cardiff, but things could well go massive, afterall the company is arguably the biggest "in yer face" brand of the last decade considering they don't really advertise in the mainstream media, they don't really do things by half -
Gp In Auckland 2012
Gearhead replied to Bradford Ace's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I take your points, the series have do have their diferrences though,Wildcards in World Superbike for example, the host federation nominate them to the FIM who make the selection, they have to be to a certain standard in qualifying too or they don't make it Speedway has the IMG as a kind of promotor, selecting their permanent wildcards and meeting wildcard for personal interest,I just think it can be potentially dangerous territory,I hope you see where I'm coming from -

Gp In Auckland 2012

This is a classic case of the IMG selling the series out, with the NZ authorities appearing to go about buying a GP and stipulating who they want in it. With the announcement of the NZ GP,without an Aussie GP I'm sure I wasn't the only one who thought it didn't seem to much sense, but I suppose the answer is as above NZ has a great history in Speedway in years gone by and it Bunyan needs to be on the pace to a degree or it's not exactly going to reflect too well on NZ Speedway, with the possible 7 time National Champion being British too is it? -
Speedway Gp In Tatters !

Id be willing to bet strongly against that, the prices don't go up every other week when there is a big event on,don't forget the Arena holds plenty of events too afterall -

Add a night's hotel,if you live too far away to do it all in a day, extra food etc and it could add another 150-200,that's a total of a week for 2 in the sun! -

I won't be convinced that Cardiff is easier than Wembly to get to,you can fly in from anywhere to London,Stanstead is ideal for many flights too,but Cardiff has the "cafe culture" which many people go for and the bars etc, many wouldn't go if it were not for this,I used to go most years because of the whole package,I havn't gone the last few years as. I did find that the meeting itself didn't give me a buzz like it did Mind you I sure don't miss getting ripped off by the hotel owners, paying over the odds for a drink,£70+ petrol and over 4 hours to get there (and back with a hangover!) though but then that's my scenario, everyone's differs, having said that Wembley doesn't have all the community hub like Cardiff and while Cardiff works do well the risk of change would surely be a huge gamble Apologies for going back a bit, just my thoughts -
Gp Practice
Gearhead replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Point taken, and if the riders generally are ok with practice that's fine, but I stand by what I said that they said things were diferrent on race day and its hard to judge riding on your own and against others. It wouldn't be a big problem if there wasn't any practice, afterall there is many a track record broken in a riders' 1st race at a track, also when these top riders race at new tracks anywhere, they never have any problems, how many times do we see the GP tracks cut up badly and become dangerous even? Scrapping practice wouldn't do any harm to our domestic calendar too,Ipswich had more people through the turnstliles last year when they went PL,compared the the previous EL campaign,as we all know how the GPs have always caused clubs to have riders missing or go without fixtures etc,(and just think of all the money saved on hotel bills etc :-) ) Funny you mention Gollob, yes he'd ride all day,but it still doesn't stop him changing bikes before re-runs and when coming to the line for a race.. Ps transponders are usually mounted at the front of the headstock, for example behind the fork cover on a Speedwaybike -
Gp Practice
Gearhead replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
There wasn't any practice before the old one off finals and every GP rider I've spoken to says the track is usually different and also its hard to judge how quick your starts are on your own and where you,are fast etc, waste of time if you ask me I'm afraid At the end of the day you can't replicate racing conditions -
Pretty much the same here,I'd go for better racing, and a team of boys who get stuck in try every timethis team looks very interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing them in action,North at home in particular, and Heeps, should be a good team spirit too
-
I think North will improve next year no end, especially around Foxhall, pretty sure he's 5
-
Yes,Dakota North,Tres,Risager will complete the team I think you'll find...

Speedway Gp In Tatters !
Gearhead replied to Midland Red's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Indeed, those IF's add something to any meeting, although even themselves over a series usually -
He'll have an Aussie/Suffolk twang by the end of the season,North and Poole will help make sure of that
-
I'd count out Morris if I were you,but how those other 4 mentioned along with Doolan,Heeps,Tungate and you've got a pretty exiting young team, who'd be happy with that? Plenty of room for improvement too, although far from ideal as far as Brits go but as far the Aussie contingent goes, they should all be good for each other too

Gearhead replied to Midland Red's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If he drew gate 4 twice he'd have a hard time if people like Olsen/Michanek etc were of 1 not to mention other top names on the inside of him,a bad draw can ruin some chances The one offs will always be special, itd be unfair for anyone to deny that, The riders mentioned would all be at the favoured end,is add Pedersen to that list,I'm sure he'll be back up there, but all of this backs up the GP theory. There are other riders capable of pulling off an odd win but lack some of the other atributes that go to winning the title. For an example, the biggest meeting of the year is Cardiff,if the title was decided thee we'd have seen World Champs of Harris,Holder,Sullivan etc,add the likes of.these to other winners tha were not such a surprise and it strengthens also the case that picking the best gates is a big advantage, the as drawing the better,(even more so at a permanent track) -

I notice hav you pick your years wisely, the following year in Poland had a surprise Polish winner and another Pole in 3rd place, however during the whole GP system there have been 8 diferrent winners and more impressively of those winners they've achieved 25 rostrom positions I think there is just as much pressure in the GPs,generally the feild has the best of the current riders available, this year the Polish authorities have thrown a bit of the spanner in the works but that's because of goings on a global scale One thing that would have been interesting is a proper GP series held back in those days,I bet it would have been thrilling, those hey days have gone now and the strength in depth isn't as it was
