  1. Because most of them are standing in the dole queue over here.
  2. I can't be bothered to read all the posts and if somebody has already asked this I apologise, how can Max Clegg ride for both Cradley and Wolves both designated Monday night tracks. Or is there another rule for FTR.
  3. I can't understand the attraction of signing Thorsell over Wells. Wells home average is far superior to Thorsell's whilst hardly any difference away,
  4. Yes against a team as bad if not worse than ours.
  5. Why the fascination of having to ride abroad to improve riders, Harris seems to be going backwards ( both in ability and on the track ) despite riding abroad 2/3 times a week, others have ridden overseas and not improved a great deal. Most of our top riders in the past only rode abroad on a Sunday and that in grasstrack or longtrack . Why do we keep hearing the excuse for being behind most other nations is the fact that all these young Poles,Swedes,Danes,Australians etc come over here to complete there speedway education by riding different types of track. If this is the case does that mean our young riders are generally poor ( financially or in ability ) or are they too thick to embrace the education of riding the same tracks that are improving all these youngsters from other countries.
  6. I am a 57 year old Wolves supporter and I think he looks awful with all the tattoos and earings etc, but as long as he appeals to the younger generation and gets them through the turnstiles does it really matter.
  7. Whilst the tac sub rule now can add a possible 6 points to a teams score (why not restrict this to away teams only) what p's me off more is a reserve having 7 rides every meeting they are a reserve and scoring God knows how many points and at times replacing heat leaders. I know this could be put down to good team building but why not restrict reserves to there programmed rides and any as cover fo an injured rider not one out of form as it was intentioned.
  8. Most of us going to meetings now have been going for years whilst the EL has been watered down mainly with overseas riders who are'nt much better than the British lads who can't get a ride in the EL and therefore would continue to turn up with British riders "watering" the EL down. Any newcomers to the sport would'nt be put off by this because they would'nt know any different. The arguement that some riders would be half a lap behind does'nt hold water as that is happening now, even a few heats in the GP's have riders tailed off but nobody notices the guy tootling around at the back if the leading 2/3 are providing a close fought battle at the front.
  9. If EL promoters receive £100k sky money which seems to be the general consensus on here, then running 14 meetings a year would cost in the region of £36,400 per season in rent and first aid leaving £63,600 for other expenses. Those expenses would'nt get anywhere near this sum so a fair amount of £63k would be left for riders expenses, add to this entrance money, programmes and sponsorship. We need to employ riders that are committed to the EL and living in this country ( I think a lot of riders live in this country anyway during the season ) thus cutting out expensive flights, if they want to ride in Poland/Sweden then let them pay for flights both ways or the riders to contribute towards them Why don't clubs employ a mechanic or two to look after all there riders bikes, they could even clean them after the meeting because the riders would only need them in this country ( obviously a different system would have to be put into place for doubling up riders ) the club could then buy there own van to transport them and the riders could use there own cars as 99% of the working populace have to. This would'nt cost any more than now as clubs are already paying out for mechanics and vans for some riders.
  10. Why should he not get another chance when we all know it must have been his bikes or mechanics faults. I can't understand why he does'nt hand his bikes back to Motability.
  11. When Pedersen decided to lay the bike down ( injury or not ) trying to get a re-run, which he does with great regularity on the first bend when he misses the gate.To suggest a rider deliberately targets another rider is utter drivel and I really ought to have more sense than reply to it. I think your biggest problem is that Tai is English and / or does'nt ride for Edinburgh.
  12. Why can the Czechs give there wildcard to the winner of the Marketa Open, but we can't use the winner / best placed in the British Final. IF franc is unable to take his place for whatever reason then it is likely they will use the next in line, which would'nt be any different from giving our wild card to the best placed rider if Tai was to win it. As for not being able to guage public opinion on Chris Harris, I think you would get a fair insight by ading up the for and against on this topic alone.
  13. thanks for that, but the close proximity to the stadium would mean it is likely to fill up early in the day, and unfortunately due to various problems I have I can't really arrive much before 14.00, which is why i was looking at the park and ride system.
  14. Have been in touch with stadium all disabled parking already assigned and advised by them to use park and ride.
  15. I am going for the first time and travelling by car. I notice there is a park and ride system in operation. Is there plenty of room in these parks, do you have to wait long for buses and also what would be the latest time to arrive as i am disabled and can't hang around too long, any sensible answer would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Virgin Media have British Eurosport on M+ which is the basic subscription, so I will get SGP without extra charge. Customer Services can be contacted by telephone free of charge and any problems I have had have been sorted. I'm happy with Virgin Media. With Virgin you don't have to pay pay for a new box when they blow up. Also if you are sports mad you get ESPN and Atheraces free.
  17. The point i'm making is not the heat formulae bringing back the crowds, but the anticipation of seeing the better riders meeting each other less frequently. you say you look forward to heat 15 because of the better riders, but by the time this race comes along the result of the meeting has already been decided in most cases, and riders are not going to risk injury racing hard when nothing depends on it. Surely there's more anticipation seeing the top riders meeting heat 1 when something depends on it, and this only a couple of times a season.
