  1. No agenda on my part, purely and simply my typing finger pressing a P instead of an N by mistake!
  2. It's NOT! There's a Fans Forum this Thursday - folk should go to the club's official website for further info.
  3. Alas I can't get to the Abbey stadium today much as I'd like to be there. Never mind though for I will maintain many happy memories of my visits there from here in Kent and some not so good ones, the pick of the latter being the time I stupidly lost my balance walking down the slope near the turnstiles, fell over and busted my hip BEFORE the meeting and consequently missed it as was carted off to hospital! Hope everyone going today has a good time.
  4. It was good to see a good turnout at Rye House yesterday having a skid including the likes of Jack Bibby and Graham Knowler as well as riders a lot younger than them - and me!
  5. No he didn't confirm that! He said the aim is to run both in the EL and PL but clearly stated that, "it's not yet cast in stone."

    Reg Trott

Very sad to hear this news having both seen Reg in his riding days and working alongside him at various tracks where he was refereeing and I was announcing. RIP Reg.
  7. Last Saturday's main event at Mildenhall was a 7-a-side team event that saw Team A, led by Rob Hollingworth, defeat Team B headed by Eryk Borczuch 64-47 over 18 heats. Former Barracuda Rob won the first four of his five outings before having to settle for second place behind Eryk in his fifth and final ride. Of Team 'B' riders Tom Cosgrove suffered bike problems in his first ride and took no further part in the match. Final score: Team 'A' 64 Team 'B' 47 Scorers (in programme order, no rides in brackets): Team 'A': Rob Hollingworth 14 (5), Mick Skinner 11+1 (5), Paul Robinson 7+1 (5), Sid Higgins 11 (6) Mark Anderson 8+2 (5), David Chiles 5+1 (5), Dave Smith 8+2 (5) Team 'B': Eryk Borczuch 11 (6), Connor King 13 (7 inc a TR). Mike Osborne 9 (5), Graham Wilson 2+1 (5), Dave Patten 4 (6), Stuart Freeman 8 (6), Tom Cosgrove 0 (1) Jason Edwards won all five of his races in the Youth 125/150cc class to finish ahead of Mason O'Rourke, Jacob Clayton and Jamie Bursill. Youngsters Sam Bebee (250cc) and William O'Keefe (500cc) both had five spins each on their machines as did others including another name from the past Stefan de Groot who was, apparently, having his first rides astride a speedway bike for some years and rode as if he'd never had a break! The Pairs Championship is the next main event at King's Lynn on 27th September. See the website at www.southerntrackriders.co.uk for details and ways to book into that and other events taking place that day.
  8. And don't forget that there's a Fans Forum this coming Thursday (Sept 10) in the Premier Lounge at Smallbrook getting underway at 7pm. See you there?
  9. The revamped IOW Wight Warriors website is now online at: http://www.iowislanders.co/
  10. Waiting for me when I got back from Last night's meeting in Norfolk: ISSUED BY THE BRITISH SPEEDWAY PROMOTERS' ASSOCIATION PRESS OFFICE Telephone: 0700 349 6748 - E-mail: pressoffice@speedwaygb.co URGENT SPEEDWAY POSTPONEMENT WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 2: CITY GEARBOXES NATIONAL LEAGUE King's Lynn v Kent - OFF
  11. If you inadvertently left something to do with the Lakeside Hammers club belonging to yourself in the bar last night, message me. Bryn
  12. 5pm UPDATE No hint of rain whatsoever, in fact it's definitely shorts and T-shirt weather so come on down!
  13. 12.30pm WEATHER CHECK: Fine, dry & sunny and no weather problems envisaged for tonight's final meeting of the season. Will update further from track circa 4pm.
  14. No seeking of brownie points from me although I was in the ATC (1579 Squadron) some years ago and no emotion ever intended from myself either. I confess though to sheer exasperation plus extreme disappointment that what started as a topic created in all good intent following the tale that emanated from a chance conversation on Monday, would also bring forth other such tales. Never mind!
  15. Are you saying he should shut it down then?
  16. Jesus Wept as the saying goes! I think I'll give up on this forum! Phil and crew, your dedication in providing & maintaining the BSF deserves more than the above quoted post!
  17. No worries mate as my Aussie friends would say! I did figure that. Perhaps this particular forum could also be used for tales of fan dedication in terms of having to use the same pen, wear the same cap to home meetings or whatever in case it put the mockers on their team if they didn't?
  18. As I said this guy's dedication only came to light During Monday's home match and thus the club would have had no knowledge of this whatsoever and, until he returns next time, even I don't know just where he lives other than near Ramsgate or even his name. I had no intention that this thread become some sort of contest or an avenue for self-proclamation even but merely a means for forum members to relate tales of dedicated speedway fans THEY know!
  19. Possibly BUT this tale only came to light at Monday's home match when the gent in question got chatting to friends of mine who were sitting next to him.
  20. Barring a few who seem to do nothing but moan about anything and everything to do with speedway and by and large never put forward anything constructive, most who contribute on this forum appear to be fans of speedway in the true sense but who's the most dedicated fan you know? This question has been prompted by learning a tale of an old boy who told friends at Central Park, Sittingbourne that he can't afford to get to every meeting there for he lives near Ramsgate and has no means of transport plus is too frail to travel by train that would require taxis at both ends of the journey each way anyway. So what does he do? He waits until he has enough to pay for a cab to and from his home to Central Park from his home! THAT'S dedication! Know anyone who can top that?

  22. Heat 6: 89.3 Heat 14: 90.4 Heat 32: 93.8 If Luke's cleaning the bike you polishing it?
  23. He was going really well until youthful exuberance perhaps got the better of him. "The Box Crew" i.e. ref, announcer and incident recorder are glad to hear Luke's OK. SUNDAY 9th AUGUST RESULTS: OPEN CLASS: 1. Rob Hollingworth 2. Ricky Scarboro 3. Mick Skinner INTERMEDIATE CLASS: 1. Mike Osborne 2. Neal Richmond 3. Sid Higgins NOVICE CLASS: 1. Lewis Scarboro 2. Stuart Freeman 3. Dave Smith Good to see a couple of riders having outings in each of the Youth 250cc and Youth 125/150cc classes plus Jeremy Pestell getting in some practice skids. Apologies from the three of us up in the Official's Box plus Canterbury Dick for not staying for the presentations as we dashed off to Peterborough and got there just as the riders were emerging from the pits for Heat 1 of their league clash with Edinburgh!
  24. The STRA staged their latest 2015 Championship round at Rye House yesterday on a great summer's day. A total of 56 (yes 56!) heats were staged, it was great to see the likes of Graham Knowler, Ricky Scarboro and Jack Bibby ( other old timers like myself will remember them!) in action. Also good to see Chris Widman there practicing with his dad Martin wielding the spanners for that gave the announcer the opportunity to update everyone on the progress being made in respect of the planned return of speedway to the Isle of Wight. Before bringing you the results I must say a huge "well done" to the Rye trackstaff present in terms of keeping the track in good condition for racing from start to finish despite the hot weather. RESULTS: Open Class 1. Luke Harris 2. Rick Scarboro 3. Mick Skinner Intermediate Class 1. Mike Osborne 2. Paul Robinson 3. Ian Leverington Novice Class 1. Lewis Scarboro 2. David Chiles 3. Dave Smith Youth 125/150cc 1. Jason Edwards 2. Taylor Hampshire 3. Mason O'Rourke A mention too for youngsters Alex Spooner the lone competitor in the Youth 250cc event and, similarly, William O'Keefe in the Youth 500cc event. Next STRA meeting is this coming Sunday at King's Lynn commencing at Noon. For further news from the club go to: http://www.southerntrackriders.co.uk/
