Just turned midday and pleased to confirm that, after some fairly "tropical" weather over the past few days, the sun is beating down and the sky is blue here at Manly where I'm currently based. That's a two hour drive from Newcastle but I'm told the weather is similar there this morn so everyone is looking forward to the meeting. Looks like Leigh has his ninth Oz title in the bag (will he try for number ten next year?) and main focus will be on who'll finish runner up and claim the brand new Jawa, supplied by MJM Speedway Spares, for the highest placed non-GP rider. My money's on Todd! As usual mein hosts Ron & Shona Malm will be providing live heat by heat results on both the general speedway Yahoo group and the Australian one. Racing commences around 7pm Oz time (8am UK?).

Well it had to happen sometime! After temperatures hovering around the 40 degree celcius mark for the last two days here in Adelaide, today it's rained all day! And THAT has led me to suffer my first EVER rained off meeting here in Oz! Today's (Sunday) scheduled Oz Under 16 Solo Champs will noe be staged tomorrow afternoon at the Sidewinders Club circuit at Wingfield with the Pairs Championship following on in the evening.

Blimey! Can't imagine his dad as a redcoat! :-)

Yes I did Sir L and it appears to me, although I could be wrong, that Phil's "mate" Trackman only appears after a few JB's!

Bryn replied to whowasthatberntpersson's topic in International World of Speedway

You should have stayed in Oz MM - that way the mozzies would have continued to bite you rather than me which they've been doing with avengeance since I flew up here to Queensland! The Bundy's still flowing and am back at mein host's Gavin Elmes after being out cruising on Phil Cain's motorboat with him, Gavin and a certain Mitch Shirra today. Phil will probably be regretting letting me drive the thing though seeing as I beached it on a sandbank! I'd only had about four Bundy tinnies by then too!

Humbug (well it IS nearly Xmas!) - said mechanic's alcohol bill is not huge, it's GINORMOUS!

Hi Darrell - hope you're not working TOO hard! Would have replied yesterday but was recovering from Shane Parker's "Octane (and Bundy!) Overdose!" Anyway, it was a tad chilly (to say the least!) at Sidewinders on Friday but there was some good racing. Heats as follows: 1. Ward, Winchester, Paver, Scott. 42.06 2. Sissis, Liersch, Heeps, Paver. 45.33 3. R. Sedgman, Medson, Heeps, Scott. 44.91 4. Branford, Medson, Dennis, Paver. 45.11 5. Ward, J. Sedgman, Branford, Heeps. 43.48 6. Ward, Sissis, Medson, Barnfield. 43.34 7. J. Sedgman, Sissis, Scott, Dennis. 43.80 8. J. Sedgman, Medson, Liersch, Winchester (exc). 44.19 9. Branford, Barnfield, Scott, Liersch. 45.21 10. J. Sedgman, Barnfield, R. Sedgman, Paver. 44.17 11. Ward, R. Sedgman, Dennis, Liersch. 43.30 12.(r/r) Barnfield, Dennis, Heeps, Winchester (fell-ex). 46.25 13. R. Sedgman, Sissis, Branford, Winchester. 44.51 FINAL: Ward, J. Sedgman, R. Sedgman, Sissis As you can see your whippersnapper Robert was just one point off of reaching the final but had two good wins. Cheers Bryn

Yeah Main Man I must be! With assistance from Lunchy, further details as follows: In the main event, the qualifying heats were followed by a five man final. One of the highlights of the night (and trust me there were many!) was Troy Batchelor holding off Leigh Adams to inflict a rare Adams defeat. Batchelor had the inside gate and Adams the extreme outside but Batchelor earned the win by answering eveything Adams threw at him. Parks himself was in fine form too only lowering his colours to Adams both in a heat and in the final where he pushed Leigh hard for the full four laps Rory Schlein eased himself back into the swing of things in his first meeting back after his long lay through injury Scores L Adams 3,3,3,2 = 11 K Doolan 2,ret,2,1 = 5 R Schlein 0,2,3,1 = 6 C Gathercole 1,0,2,0 = 3 S Parker 2,3,3,3 = 11 T McGowan 1,2,2,2 = 7 S Johnston ret,3,1,2 = 6 A Summers 1,0,0,1 = 2 M Wethers 3,1,2,3 = 9 T Harding 1,0,1,1 = 3 J Lyons 2,1,2,0 = 5 T Batchelor 3,3,fx,3 = 9 R. Ksiezak 1,0,0,0 = 1 Final Adams, Parker, Batchelor, McGowan, Wethers In the "Young Guns" solos Ty Proctor and Scott James shared the spoils with two wins apiece with Proctor's two seconds giving him the trophy for the overall winner. With Ksiezak elevated to the main event, he was replaced in the field by Danny Warwick. T Proctor 4,4,3,3 = 14 S James 2,2,4,4 = 12 D Warwick 3,1,2,1 = 7 A Bugeja 1,3,1,dns = 5 D Harding 0,0,0,2 = 2 In the sidecars Treloar / Plaisted were just that bit too good for the other outfits and would have had an unblemished record but for a retirement when in first in their first ride Final Treloar/Plaisted, Plaisted /Harrison, Bottrell/Teale, Munro/Edwards

Jeez the Bundy has been flowing after what was simply a brilliant night at Gillman Speedway attended by a big crowd who witnessed a superb evening's action which included the main solo event, a support "Young Guns", sidecars, freestyle motocross, a globe of death, bmx fire jump, a live rock group and goodness knows what else! I had a ball sharing the commentary duties with Brendon Gledhill - every part of what was a jam packed schedule of events went like clockwork and, as I said, thegrog flowed freely afterwards! It's 4am here in Adelaide, I'm a bit "bundified"if you get what i mean so just the basic results for now: Senior solos: 1. Leigh Adams 2. Shane Parker 3. Troy Batchelor 4. Travis McGowan Young Guns winner: Tyron Proctor Sidecar winners: Darrin Treloar and Justin Paisted. Good to see Forum members Ozyace, Marty, Lunchy and, of coure, Main Man amongst others in attendance. Time for me to crash out people - I'm bushed!
-
Quick result from last night: 1. Darcy Ward 2. Justin Sedgman 3. Ryan Sedgman 4. Arthur Sissis Some excellent racing from the young Ășns and good to see Trevor Harding, Robert Ksiezak and Troy Batchelor in attendance to support the kids as well as Shane. Former Halifax fans will be interested to learn too that another interested spectator was a certain Steve Baker.

Shouldn't that one if us will report on the meeting when (and IF) we have recovered sufficiently to do so MM?
-
Well we started off to the practice from Noarlunga BUT as it was, er shall we say precipitating hard, we decide to turn back and get a feed instead!

All being well I'll be at practice OA As for Lemmo - saw his dad at the SA Junior titles on Saturday and he said Lemo was still in the UK. 'Feel sure he'll be back soon given that cold snowy stuff falling all around! :-)

Didn't rain here in Adelaide (sorry MM!) as I took myself off to the Sidewinders Club at Wingfield last night for the above meeting. Some cracking racing served up by the youngsters and it was Toby Procter (younger brother of Tyron who spent some time over in the UK this summer) who won the final ahead of Justin Sedgman, Josh Grajczonek, and Ryan Sedgman. In addition to the 20 heat plus final championship event, there were also support classes and a total of 46 races on the night. Next event is Shane Parker's meeting at Gillman next Saturday and then I'm off to Labrador the following week for the Qld Champs followed by the two day meeting up at Ayr. Full list of qualfying scores from last night (in programme order): Cameron Heeps 2 Kale Scott 1 Toby Procter 14 Brenton Barnfield 6 Ryan Sedgman 10 Justin Sedgman 13 Robert Branford* 7 Robert Medson 6 Darcy Ward 7 Dylan Liersch 7 Josh Grajczonek 13 Daniel Winchester 5 Josh Munro 8 Arthur Sissis 10 Mitchell Davey 6 Ash Dennis 5 * Son of Darrell Branford who many will remember racing back in the UK *

Beginning to smell the Bundy! Halway to Oz - well Im at Changi Airport in Singaore, just had a couple of Superkings so feeling fine,
-
Just poked my head out of the front door and it's fffffreeezing! Roll on Monday! Think Shane's missus Anji is looking forward to getting to Oz too bearing in mind she's been burning the midnight oil whilst arranging various aspects of the meeting from over here. Like MM said, December 3 is going to be the night of nights - alas I've got a feeling that the morn of December 4 isn't going to prove quite so memorable!
-
Gordon Bennett! It's alright for some FTM! There's you sunning yourself (remember - drink plenty of liquids. You are? Thought so!) whilst I've got to wait until next Monday before I'm off to Oz! Anyway, Russell Paine and partner Claire's Spanish project is at Huercal-Overa on the borders of Murcia and Almeira just off the A7 motorway south of the holida towns of Alicante and Benidorm.

One of the nicest guys you would ever wish to meet, and a talented rider to boot despite not making it to the top as it were over here, was Randy Green who came over here initially to ride for Hackney along with his mechanic - a certain Carl Blomfeldt. As Steve Hone said, "everyone that has ever sat and ridden a speedway bike deserves some respect whatever level they were at" as he went onto mention the tragic loss of Ashley Jones.
-
I think that Uncle Len would have to admit that Timmy Jo Shepherd was NOT the best signing he's ever made! Anyone else remember him?
-
Trouble is Mother T, you can get into an awful lot of trouble flashing Down Under!
-
Don't suppose there'll be any need MM - most meetings at Gillman, Murray Bridge and Mildura have, when I've been there, been filmed my Mick Hargreaves - an ex-pat who's only problem is that he used to support Sheffield!
-
Take it that MM's told you he hasn't got room in his suitcase for you then F4E? Nor have I!
