Is it me or does anybody else feel that there's a fair number of people who have contributed to this thread that really ought to make appointments to see their local optician to get their eyes tested as soon as possible? Quite how anybody can argue against Nicky and Tomasz's exclusions is totally beyond me as they were quite simply the only logical decisions that could be made! -

Alas won't be there tonight as right knee has swollen up to 4x the size of my left one! Flipping arthritis! At least I'll keep warm though I suppose! Don't expect too much from young Richard Sweetman, He's a really good young prospect BUT having been in action at Newcastle on Monday night, arrived home at some ungodly hour yesterday morning, got up early to clean / prepare his machinery and then ridden last night on the Isle of Wight and, no doubt, having surfaced early this morning to repeat the bike cleaning / preparation process, I wouldn't be surpised if is isn't feeling somewhat shattered before he starts! -

Come on Tanya! I know you good folk of Newport have been starved of speedway since Tim's unfortunate passing but the scoring system's still three for a win, two for second and one for third! Mind you even the poor old (and he IS getting on a bit!) announcer had trouble filling in his programme when it came to all the handicaps the riders would be going off of in their next outings! The staggering fact is that ref Jim Lawrence was filling in three programmes throughout the proceedings! Great to see all you Wasps fans there and, as you say a good night and I'm sure we are all pleased it went so well for Chris. -
Alas the EKKA is a bit of a long hike from where you are - it's in Brisbane!
-
Former Test rider and Aussie Champion John Titman will take to the Ekka track again for four demo rides between 9am and 2pm, during next Saturday's (13 Sept) Vintage Speedcar Day. John has only ridden twice in the past 13 years, so it's quite a special event for those who remember his glory days.

Especially at your age I would have thought Robert!

Good to see a massive crowd at Jase's Testimonial including Island MP Andrew Turner and the legendary Jet Harris from the Shadows who's been to quite a few meetngs on the Island where he now lives. Jet told me that he's always been a speedway fan having been a Wembley Lions follower in his youth. It was a night of sheer entertainment from start to finish that included a stunt show, vintage speedway bike racing, sidecars, minibikes, a gorilla charging around on a Quad bike (?!!), plus fun and games galore including an adult "jousting arena" where I'm told tthe likes of Chris Holder received a few bashes! Don't worry Poole fans he's fine and bashed all his opponents back in style! And there was certainly a dramatic climax to the night's events when speedway riders, who'd earlier done battle in the Global Pairs main event, gleefully whacked the living daylights out of each as they swopped two wheels for four to take part in the Demolition Derby that ended in dramatic fashion when the car driven by Jason Bunyan himself caught fire! Thankfully he escaped totally unscathed clambering out of his wrecked vehicle in double quick time to the sound of mightily relieved cheers from all on the terraces! -

Raceday weather check: Just turned 11.30am and have just spoken to Dave Pavitt who's on the Island. Pretty windy but DRY thank goodness! Looking at the various projected rainfall charts, they anticipate the possibility of a shower around lunchtime but that there will be NO further wetstuff falling after that! Hopefully there'll be a good turn out to pay tribute to the Bunyanator and to enjoy themselves! -

Re Jason Crump... situation will be clarified in the morning. He wasn't originally down to ride in Sweden as I understand it but Rune Holta getting hurt in Saturday's GP may have brought about a change in plans. Rest assured the Bunyanator informs me he has a list of "suitable alternatives" lined up eager to step into the breach IF Crumpie has to go to Sweden. -

Will check and let you, and everyone else, know Pirate Paul but I would hazard a guess that they will be available. -
As you can imagine KevH, he was soon nicknamed "intensive" by the knowledgeable Islanders! You never know, when I'm over there next Tuesday I'll check to see if their records show his d.o.b.

And a night that brought memories galore flooding back although I personally missed quite a chunk having keeled over (and no I hadn't been drinking!) and being sorted out by the medics for which I'm very grateful. As I said though, the memories came flooding back with the likes of Moggo, Troy Pratt, Rob Ledwith, Paul Woods, Jeremy Doncaster and Gordon Kennett having a skid and great to see the likes of Andy Galvin, Bo Petersen, Jan Pedersen, Troy Pratt, Colin White, Ian Humphreys, Alan Sage, Rob Tilbury, Andrew Silver, Ted Hubbard, Mark Loram, Steve Schofield Michael Lee, Steve Weatherley, Eddie Kidd (who's looking well), Egon Muller and so many more in attendance - including the legendary Terry Heath who those who practiced on Saturday afternoons at Hackney will well remember - a really great night! Well done to everyone who played a part and to all the fans who attended too. -

As you're no doubt getting your beauty sleep at this time in the morning Shazzy below is the excerpt from the latest press release regarding the amended start time on Friday and forum members will realise the change has been mde for a very good reason indeed. Hurry Tribute to Boocock With the funeral of Darren Boocock and his wife Sharon taking place on Friday this week, Paul Hurry and the organisers of his Testimonial have taken the decision to amend the original start time. Hurry said: ’Although I did not know Darren that well, he was a popular member of the Speedway family and there are obviously riders and officials involved in my meeting who wish to attend the funeral in Sheffield on Friday and pay their respects. Therefore the decision was made to amend the start time to 7.30pm with the first race getting underway at 7.45pm. My thoughts are with both their families, friends and of course their 12 year old son Jack at this time.’ -
