  1. And I'll certainly echo those thoughts too. Much as I enjoyed the one off finals over many years the GP's ARE, I sure, here to stay. The main drawback of the GP system though as I see it is that some riders are chosen to be in it rather than having to qualify to be in it although I fully accept the logic behind inclusion of one 'wildcard' per round. And as for the Slovenian start line girls 'young' Robert, you surely would much prefer the legendary Hackney Kestrelettes to be signed up for the whole series rather than them wouldn't you? Go to: http://www.hackneyreunion.com/Photo-Gallery to remind yourself of their grace, poise and other attributes!
  2. Good to see "Postman Pete" alis Pete Wigley (slightly over his raciing weight nowadays!) and his missus at Weymouth last night and to hear from Shawn Venables (remember him HL1 Kestrels fans?) this morning!
  3. Very much HOPING (although not sure if I'll be able) to get to Oz this winter for Bundy top ups, sun and speedway plus usual unsurpassed anywhere in the world hospitality! Anyone 'Down Under' able to put together a provisional list of meetings i.e. dates & venues please? Bryn
  4. In response to your posting above Mr. Barclay: 1. Perhaps, first and foremost, it might have been wiser for you to have checked your facts first before your initial posting directed towards myself and in your latest outburst e.g. "uniquely contained no helmet colours at all.." Did you not read the programme? Did you not listen to the announcements pre-meeting etc? 2. If you are now tryng to justify your posting(s) by saying you were having a joke - why didn't you phone me initially rather than waste bandwith here? 3. Matter closed from my point of view and I'll readily admit to making innumerable mistakes in my life to date and fully admit to them if that will help you float your boat as they say but, to repeat what I said earlier concerning the matter in question, and that is I cannot and will not apologise for something I have absolutely no reason to apologise for.
  5. Before saying anything else here, my only apologies in this posting go to the forum moderators in advance of what is to follow as I'm hoping they realise that indeed in respect of what follows below, it is meant and intended to conform to this forum's basic principle of "attack the post, not the poster." So, Mr. Barclay: 1. I have not responded to the gibberish you have been posting on this thread but have left it to you to make a bigger twerp of yourself through what you have been adding each time you have posted and you've done a pretty good job in my humble opinion. 2. I have had far more very important things to worry about and deal with as will become clear here and through other sources no doubt later today (very shortly in fact), than concern myself with trying to add any form of creedence to what appears to be the ramblings of a very bitter person, the reasons for such bitterness being totally unclear to myself 3. I cannot and will not apologise for something I have absolutely no reason to apologise for. Bryn Williams
  6. Group winners meet for title. In the event of tie at top of group "who beat who when they met" will be deciding factor and, of course, we'll all muck up our proggies as usual as it's the 4,3,2,0 scoring system!
  7. You'd best ask him yourself tomorrow really BUT I'd warn you I suspect us two will be on the Midnight car ferry back to Pompey as I doubt we'll make the 10pm.
  8. Those of us who cannot believe miracles really do happen simply cannot get our heads around the fact that you are saying that you won't ever do so again Parsnips old fruit! Well I couldn't possibly comment but Sexy Sue the Island's raffle ticket seller (who can shout MUCH louder than you Peasepud!) will be disappointed as she thought you'd be donning your pink outfit! WARNING TO YOUNGER FANS (and old uns like Peasepud and Parsnips too!): Stories are spreading that a Gorilla is on the loose and may well be intending to make for the Wave105.2FM Stadium.

  10. Well again knowing you, I wouldn't expect otherwise but.....
  11. Peasepud matey, you simply cannot assume that normal "people" would look for a thread appertaining to this subject under this section because even you would surely agree no other human being can be remotely like either yourself or Parsnips!
  12. Well Peasepud, I hope your sense of direction is better than your eyesight otherwise you might well end up on the Isle of Skye! There IS an existing thread and it's under the "shared events" section where it should be despite Parsnips whingeing! So now we all know that you Peasepud will be joining Parsnips AND both SimonB and HalifaxTiger in invading the friendly Isle of Wight on that day, one can only wonder how our border guard Fred is going to be able to cope with the increased threat to security! NOTE TO MODS: Please help poor old Peasepud out by moving his posting and this reply to the proper section please!
  13. Jeez Parsnips old fruit, you're a right grumpy old wotsit nowadays! Anyway all the good folk on the Isle of Wight are no doubt grateful for your early warning that you plan to invade it as they indeed are for similar early notice of SimonB's and Halifax Tiger's planned assault on the territory! The border guards have been duly placed on full alert!
  14. Well I for one remember you riding Randy during your brief spell (6 league matches?) with Dave Pavitt in control and John Louis team manager at Hackney in 1987 - sheesh 22 years ago! Sure you can remember riding alongside the late, great Wiggy, Malcolm Simmons, Allan Johanssen, Alan Mogridge, Andy Galvin and Mark Loram? Good to know you're still alive and kicking and who was the guy with you in those days? Wasn't it Carl Blomfeldt? Don't worry about those who whine on here - there's a lot of them! Give me a ring on 07774 935468 if you get a chance - I'm seeing Dave Pavitt tonight (Tuesday) and Thursday all being well. Cheers Bryn Williams
  15. Well Jim, my mate Michael reckons it all started to go wrong when Maggie Thatcher snatched away his free school milk!
  16. I'm not touchy - just thought that by talking face to face on Saturday it'd be an ideal opportunity for me to take on board some constructive critcism from someone about whom I know absolutely nothing about apart from the fact that according to your profile you are male. The offer stands.
  17. Fair enough if that's your opinion 'srbramble' so how about you and I meeting at Rye House this Saturday and there you can tell me face to face where I've been going wrong all these years? I'm not perfect - far from it, I make mistakes - loads of 'em, but wherever I'm asked to announce / present, I simply do my best. If that's not good enough for you I can't help it!
  18. Maybe he was in another ambulance? Under the regulations there HAS to be more than one at a track when a FIM meeting is being run I think you'll find.
  19. Yep you keep on posting LT and hang the consequences even if they hang a bit low at our age!
  20. The seven young Brits selected to ride in this test match are: Simon Lambert, Dan Halsey, Lee Smart, Ben Hopwood, Brendan Johnson, Lee Strudwick and Matt Bates. As far as I'm aware, just four members of their opponents have been revealed atthis stage - Jake Anderson, Grant Tregoning, Andrew Aldridge, Shelby Rutherford. Further news will be posted on the Official Wightlink Islanders website - http://www.islandspeedway.co.uk/ in due course.
  21. Think you might be getting Lee Richardson mixed up with Edward Kennett for both ride bikes resplendent in the Martin Hagon livery.
  22. Just spoken to one of the Somerset promoters at the track - weather fine, track in good shape - meeting definitely ON!
