  1. Excellent post BFD and just to add Doyley is somewhat sore (hardly surprising!) after his tangle with Alex Davies at Newcastle with the latter suffering a thumb injury that has forced him to pull out of this coming Sunday's Aussie Under 21 Champs at Gillman. Hefty bike repair bills faced too I expect by both him and Doyley. Glad you made it back home ok and can now relax and not be drawn into drinking that nasty stuff I caught you downing at Newcastle!
  2. Oi BFD! Our old mate Lunchy says you speak for yourself when using the term 'drunken Aussie texters!' But he and I totally agree with you regarding Sue! Now looking at the time of you're posting - early night?? As to Championship itself, it's sure looking good for Troy B with final round to go at Newcastle - hope me saying that hasn't put the mockers on him - and I have to say he fully deserves to be heading the chart at this stage
  3. 12.50am Aussie time, am at Sir Lunchalot's castle and just about to hit the sack (Sir Lunchalot has done so already!) after flying in to Melbourne from Sydney earlier and then adjourning to Kelly's (summat to do with Ned Kelly in the past!) for a feed and a couple of pints then back to here for 'special' coffees. Off to airport to pick up our mate Gavin at crack of dawn and then heading up to Mildura for tonight's qualifier. Good luck to all riders - but especially Josh & Joe eh?
  4. I'm sure Lunchy and Crazysue will endeavour to be passionate instead Sandie!
  5. Alas 'Haza' I understand the meetings are not being covered live by Radio Freemantle so log into 'live updates' site. Sue will be up at the crack of dawn and Sir Lunchalot will be texting results through - providing I and Gavin Elmes successfully navigate him from Melbourne to Mildura in the car - or has he ordered a limousine?
  6. Entirely up to you madam! Anyway back to business and I hope firstly that the weather back in the UK enables Sunday's meeting at Scunny to go ahead and I'm sure the weather at Mildura for the Aussie Champs qualifier at Mildura next Wednesday will be better than here in NSW at the moment.
  7. Why read the threads then? It's not compulsory!
  8. Well as a certain Victor Meldrew would say, "I don't BELIEVE it!" My FIRST rained off meeting in Australia for unfortunately tonight's trip to Gosford won't now take place as following announcement on their official website confirms!: BOXING DAY BEST PAIRS SPEEDWAYAT GOSFORD : posted 26 December, 2009 Unfortunately, due to continual rain over Christmas Day and Boxing Day, the Best Pairs meeting scheduled for tonight has to be cancelled due to a waterlogged track.
  9. Alas Speedway venues are a bit sparse out here Andy BUT there's also Central Coast Speedway at Gosford AND there's a Best Pairs meeting there on Boxing Day - racing starts at 6.30pm. For further details go to: http://www.centralcoastspeedway.com/ And a Merry Xmas to you too!
  10. Full details at: http://www.centralcoastspeedway.com/ Looking forward to this provided we've recovered from Xmas day!
  11. Yep but didn't crash out to nearly 4.30am Aussie time - mein host Ron's Bundy 'Specials' (pints of 'em!) are indeed Special! Anyway here goes: Heat scores (in riding order - from 5 rides unless stated): 1. Chris Holder 12 2. Tyson Nelson 8 3. Daine Stevens (replacing Kurt Shields) 4 4. Jay Herne 14 5. James Holder 9 6. Richarrd Sweetman 13 7. Mick Dyer 6 8. Taylor Poole 3 (three rides then withdrew - apparently still suffering from last week's crash) 9. Alex Davies 8 10. Sam Masters 13 11. Daniel Begley (replacing Anthony Perks) 6 12. Todd Kurtz 2 (three rides then withdrew after falling in that third ride) 13. Michael Penfold 1 (from three - third in his first then two retirements - then withdrew) 14. Mark Jones 7 (good to see him easing his way back in) 15. Hugh Skidmore 5 (from 4 - missed one ride) 16. Tim Heffernan 4 Then final as above. Chris Holder made to work hard after falling apex bends 1/2 of the first lap whilst leading opener. Tyson Nelson and Jay Herne locked together and came to grief same place in re-run - this time Nelson excluded (they don't disqualify here! ). Bit of a conference resulting in Mick Poole & crew moving first turn inner white line out and some excellent racing followed as meeting progressed.

Tim Heffernan – Bathurst (NSW) RACEDAY WEATHER CHECK: After rain(!!!) in Sydney yesterday (would have done the track good) clear blue skies, hot and sunny this morning so here's looking forward to what should be an excellent meeting. Bryn
  14. I've heard Mike B called a lot of things over the years but 'livewire?' What voltage does he run on? Seriously though as I and others have said, it was a great night - apart from the flipping mozzies of course! Full praise to the North Brisbane club for staging the event and particularly Marcus & Beverly Williams plus all others who have helped regarding the scholarship riders. The young Pommies have gone out jetskiing today - they wouldn't be doing THAT back in the UK would they?
  15. Was indeed a good night and even though I'm Welsh, good to see a Pom win in what was a scintillating final!
  16. Am now in at friend's place here in NSW for next week before heading off to Johnny Hoskins Memorial meeting a Newcastle this coming Friday and then up up by plane the following morning to Brisbane for Saturday's Queensland Champs at North Brisbane circuit.. First meeting I saw was on 28/11/09 at Gillmore and rain caused the solo event to be canned very early on and things concentrated on the sidecar and quad events from then onwards. In the very brief solo events Rob Ksiezak won both his outings before the rain came, Robert Branford registered two seconds, Ben Turner one third and one last and Ben Turner the same return. Adam Briggs won both the 'Solo Encourage' races, Damon Whelan a second and a third, Ben Hatcliffe fell whilst leading the first race and finish second behind Briggs in hs second, and Frank Graham finished third in the first race and last in the second. The sidecar event continued and the result of the final was: 1. Mick Headland / Paul Waters 60.88 2. Adrew O'Rourke / Jason Mayes 3. Mark Plaisted / Sam Harrison with the fourth crew, Trent Headland being excluded (they don't disqualify out here thank goodness!) for losing passenger Jesse Headland in the final. Seven days later, on Dec 4th it was much better weather and Brit Josh Auty began what was to prove a highly productive weekend for him by romping to success in the Jack Young Cup winning all his heats and then heading home Justin Sedgmen, Robert Ksiezak and Jake Anderson in the final. Anderson took advantage of Damien Koppe suffering an engine failure as the tapes rose to head home Robert Branford and Arlo Bugeja in the semi to join the other three top scorers from the heats in the final. Mick Headland and Paul Waters took the sidecar honours heading home Darren Treloar and Justin Plaisted with the Mark Mitchell / Tom Golding partnership third. -------------------- 24 hours later it was off to Renmark where Auty made it two wins out of two by winning the Riverland solo championship winning the feature (final?) from Robert Ksiezak, Damien Koppe and Jake Anderson. ----------------------------------------- And then on Saturday at Mildura, their opening meeting of the season and much work had taken place at the venue since last year - that was plainly evident. There was no 'feature' or final for the solos and some riders had five rides, others four as sidecars were the feature eevent. However in the solos no one was going to stop Josh Auty who won all five of his outings with next best being Justin Sedjmen with 13 pts from five rides whilst both Damien Koppe and Jake Anderson amassing eight points apiece, again from five rides. Special mention must go for the sheer effort Samsurry "Sooty" Pilgrim for the wholehearted effort he put in at all three meetings over the weekend for little real reward but, I guarantee you, a lot of bruises and the same goes for Robert Branford. Rick Howse / Adam Commons won the sidecar final from Mick Headland/Paul Waters with the Jason Bradshaw/Simon Cohrs partnership third.
  17. Flew out Tuesday, arrived in Adelaide Thursday, off to first meeting at Gillman tonight... results sometime tomorroe HERE
  18. Looks a bit dampiish (and quiet although it is a bit early) in Bydgoszcz at the moment - go to:http://www.bydgoszcz.com/site/
  19. Why not telephone them during office hours (the number would be in your programme from "the other Monday") and put your queries to their general manager who I feel sure would be happy to answer any queries you might have Parsnips old fruit, and correct some mistatements in your posting above. For example I can tell you the situation regarding the initially proposed home match against Rye House on October 16 was fully explained on the Hammers website yesterday - I take it that you didn't read that first before typing out the above this lunchtime?
  20. Might I suggest you two look under the appropriate section of this forum i.e. the one dealing with individual meetings? Go to: http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=50846
  21. I WONDER? If perchance some kind person, travelling to Coventry for the meeting from south of the river Thames via Dartford crossing, might have a spare seat in their car / van they could offer to a little 'un like me? If so would be very grateful if you could please PM me. Would obviously contribute to costs. Cheers Bryn
  22. Please do NOT take this as official club news at all as it's not but as I understand the situation the last speedway meeting of the 2009 season at the Arena Essex circuit will be staged on October 16. I believe I'm right in saying that the stadium owners require the last two weeks of this month for extra preparations for their season-ending "Firecracker" car meeting. And whilst it would have been great in many people's eyes to stage the LRC on October 16 given that, it wouldn't really realistic to do so for at the moment the Lakeside Hammers have firstly to allow for the fact that A) Monday's KO Cup semi between Coventry and Belle Vue could be a victim of adverse weather and so could next Friday's home leg of the final! Spare a thought too for the Hammers programme editor (not me thank goodness!) who, amongst his 1001 other tasks and leading a life of his own, is having to start planning / writing next Friday's edition bearing in mind "A)" above consequently not knowing who the oppo is and even what the fixture is definitely going to be! As far as the LRC is concerned, I believe it is hoped to most certainly run it in 2010 sometime mid-season! Cheers Bryn EDIT: 7/10/09 UPDATE: The club have now officially confirmed that this Friday's (9th Oct) Cup Final first leg v Coventry is scheduled to be the last home meeting of 2009
  23. I'm sure Len Silver will be very appreciative of the early warning Shazzy!
  24. Gutted that I won't be there tonight but alas the kind person who had offered me a lift is feeling a bit under the weather today and whilst I could come down by train, wouldn't be able to get back! Would have been great to link up with the likes of Huntley etc again and can only hope there'll be further opportunities in the future. Hope it all goes well at Blunsdon.
