Have very kindly been offered a lift to KL tonight proving, once again, that speedway fans are GREAAAAAAAAT!!! -

WAS going to attend tonight but have pulled out as my regular driver is on timekeeping duties at the meeting and wanted to pick me up from here in Kent at 7.30am as he's got to be at track early. TOO early for me! -
Disappointing World Cup?
Bryn replied to Rob B's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I was attempting to be somewhat jocular Mateusz - to explain a group called Bucks Fizz had an annoyingly catching huge hit with a song called "Making your mind up!" -

A huge shot of Buck's Fizz going on here eh? -
Didn't see it myself as was manning the office phone until 7.30pm but was told Paul was due to have a pre-meeting spin at Lakeside last night, Assuming he did, hope it went well.

Thing is though he was born in this country and nothing can change that. As I said I would hope PS gets fixed up (which I'm sure he undoubtedly will!) very quickly indeed.

"Strewth cobbers!" as my Aussie mates would say, when did they move Swindon (where young Mr. Glanz was born!)abroad??? Having said that it sure is tough on Paul Starke and hopefully he'll soon be in action elsewhere

Great news Sandie - didn't 'look good' for a while but better be safe than sorry by the medics in putting him on a spinal board. So no Maccas for him for a while - replaced by soup??? -

It is indeed 7pm and, prior to that there's action from Noon onwards with the Southern Track Riders Association's latest meeting. -
You going to be around THAT long CHK? And also to remember John Perrin at the same time CR. Will never forget the day he called me an awkward cuss (or words to that effect!) just because I asked for coffee rather than the tea he offered when we arrived in the Belle Vue pits at tea time for the evening's match! A true character of the sport indeed. Will never be forgotten in the same way as Lokeren.

Of the five, only knew Martyn to talk to but can well remember the sense of absolute disbelief and shock on hearing the tragic news. Hard to comprehend that it was forty years ago.

Well I am and I do and I sing it too - a few pre-meeting Bundies helped with that! If you don't like it, flip off to your own country and hold the GP there! -
Terry Tibbs Cardiff Vip Experience
Bryn replied to Terry Tibbs's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Indeed not "RE" for my regular chauffeur is indeed Big Chris in whom's company I have travelled the length and breadth of the British Isles over the years to attend speedway meetings and rain offs in his make believe Bentley and seen him take what I would eloquently describe as 'the scenic route' on most occasions diving off motorways at the merest suggestion of a traffic jam ahead. By so doing he has developed an uncanny knack of coming across 24 hour transport cafes in the middle of nowhere where he feels compelled to stop to sample their version of what some might describe as a 'Big Breakfast' with both beans and tomatoes and two toast rather than fried bread. I cannot confirm or deny though whether he has to demolish the plate of food in front of him in under three minutes on the basis of research, the results of which are scheduled to be published in his 2015 British Transport Cafe Guide once he has visited every such establishment in mainland Britain. Alas though I will not be travelling to my homeland in his company later today as I believe he has decided to take his two dogs for a 16 mile walk along the Kent coast so this is to warn everyone, as I think it only fair to do so, that with Big Chris a non-starter, I will instead be travelling in the company of Scary Sheila! You HAVE been warned! One final point, such a shame to read that Shovvy has seemingly been 'confined to barracks' by 'er indoors, she who must be obeyed and thus has had to cancel his proposed book signing. -
Cardiff Grand Prix
Bryn replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
A huge well done to all who, like myself, contacted BBC Radio Five Live to complain about their complete lack of even a mention of tomorrow's GP at the Millennium Stadium. That pressure obviously worked as we've just received a mention on Gabby Logan's Show (which John Inverdale is presenting today) and fair play to the legend that is Murray Walker who pointed out to all discussing Silverstone's event much to their amazement, that Mark Webber had flown out to a recent Speedway GP to cheer on his great mate Crumpy! -
If I Could Turn Back Time
Bryn replied to Bryn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If only I had one of those! Bit of a cheek maybe but can I borrow yours please? -
Being a poor man's son and being unable to turn back time alas to the days when we 'made a weekend of it' (i.e. booked into a nice little hotel in Newport and drank in between speedway meetings!), it's a case this Saturday at least of being up, up that day at the crack of dawn cos although I haven't got a job that must be done, I've got a flippin coach to catch for a trip to my homeland that's leaving this neck of the woods at a ridiculously early hour of the morning! Advice please - do I crash out early on Friday and risk not hearing my alarm clock going off at 5.30am Saturday or stay up all night? What are others doing?

Your posting infers that Millsy MIGHT be allowed to stay with Bournemouth. According to the man himself at Peterborough where he was collecting bike/engine pieces, he won't be!

OMG! And there was I trying to keep quiet the fact that I saw Chopper ride in his heyday! If my memory is not deceiving me, I think it was a Wednesday!

Steve Your post has encapsulated nigh on all I wanted to say but like you I've had difficulty putting my thoughts into the right words. None of us who were at the Wick that night will ever forget it, Vic or the injuries Steve sustained. Nor will I ever forget having to give evidence at an inquest into the death of another rider, who I won't name here as I've no wish to bring back painful memories to those close to him, for believe me that was traumatic to say the very least. It's perhaps unsurprising then that I cringe (not sure if that is the right word but it'll do!) when I read here and elsewhere comments from people hiding behind made up names saying so-and-so rider is rubbish, hopeless, pish (think that's the modern word!) and should be got rid of. Don't get me wrong, I fully acknowledge the fact that the paying public have every right to have their say but sometimes wish they'd give matters just a little bit more thought before doing so. That's just my own personal opinion mind you formed over the many years of myself following this great sport and I fully respect everyone's right to agree / disagree. To end on a positive note I must say it was wonderful to see Matt Read plus his missus at Rye House yesterday looking so good and well. Bryn

Welsh Open
Bryn replied to dickiemint's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Surely it's not worth anyone getting their knickers in a twist over whether, if they attend the Welsh Open, it might prevent them getting home to see the World Cup Final for England aren't going to be in the latter are they? -
