  1. You could have said please! HAD offered to phone thru updates (txting is a no go given my mangled mitts!) BUT no 'updater' came forward. So helped out by answering questions all night from members of the meeting sponsors' party who had never seen speedway before. FINAL SCORE: 50-42 SCORERS in prog order): IOW: Starke 5+1, Smethills 8+1, Warwick 11, Johnson 7+3, Simmons 9, `Felton (who's now 21 + 20!) 7+3, Hill 4+1 BUXTON: Cook 13+2 (max), Morris 11 (inc 4pt TR), r/r, Branford 4, Allot 11, Day 1, Kerr 2+1
  2. Pardon Kenneth? You're in a daze I know as Charlton are unbeaten so far! Anyway like a dad to you?? Ye Gods! I don't want any more kids as my lovely only daughter Carys is quite enough to cope with at times ta! Must go and pack now as am off abroad to the Isle of Wight shortly!
  3. How about: FRONT: I used to write for the Speedway Mail! BACK: Am I REALLY that old? Alternative FRONT: I used to buy the Speedway Mail!
  4. Just had confirmation from BSPA that match tonight is OFF - see below: URGENT SPEEDWAY POSTPONEMENT SATURDAY AUGUST 14: NATIONAL LEAGUE Rye House v Plymouth - OFF Not surprised given the amount of rain we've had in the last 24 hours, the fact that it's raining heavily down to road at Tottenham and the threatening skies above me! Nothing to do with me being the announcer tonight!
  5. You poor wotsit Mr. Morosely - you won't be able to flog poor old Parsnips a keyring or three now will you?
  6. Anyone local can give an up to date weather check please? Travelling down from Kent as usual for this leaving circa 1.30pm
  7. The Rye House Cobras face three National League matches in the space of four days starting this Saturday with their home clash against the Plymouth Devils before they move onto Buxton on Sunday and Wolverhampton next Tuesday where they take on the Dudley Heathens. Joe Jacobs makes his home league debut against Plymouth on his seventeenth birthday on Saturday along with the experienced Ricky Scarboro who was signed last week to replace Ben Morley, out of action with a broken ankle. A home win over the Devils will not only make it a birthday to remember for young Joe but put the team in just the right frame of mind for the two away matches that follow, neither of which will be easy as Buxton currently lie third in the league and Dudley second, but the Cobras' aim is very much to collect three wins out of three if at all possible. Those attending Saturday's meeting, which gets underway at the usual time of 7pm, will also get the opportunity of meeting legendary Kiwi multi-world champion Ivan Mauger who will be present to sell and personally sign his autobiography, "The Will to Win." Looking ahead to the end of the month, Rye House boss Len Silver has revealed that admission to the Cobras home NL match against Scunthorpe on Saturday August 28 will be absolutely FREE for all ages, young and old alike!
  8. Anybody know who's riding? Note: Again, please put DATES for meeting NOT 'this Thursday' which means nothing and confuses people
  9. Surprised there's no thread yet for this. Anyone 'abroad' on the IOW can give us a weather update please?
  10. Reported on IOW's Facebook page that Ben Hopwood was kept in hospital overnight after his high speed crash at Scunthorpe last night. Hopefully his overnight stay was just as a precautionary measure and I'm sure everyone wishes him well.
  11. No need to do that Parsnips old fruit, Ken seems to be doing a good enough job on 'em on his own!
  12. Oh NOT again with the "we wuz robbed!" stance please Parsnips old fruit!
  13. Sandie - please be more specific regarding the date of your expedition to the Isle as the Border Guards will have to be informed / alerted as you'll no doubt appreciate.
  14. \ You after another job now then Parsnips old fruit?
  15. Someone from the home track is supposed to phone through result & scorers.
  16. Weather may yet still dictate track conditions one would have thought. Cancelled / postponed your holiday yet Steve?
  17. Am interested but, alas, won't be there as my regular lift is going to the grasstrack masters meeting here in Kent.
  18. Like most I firmly believe that airfences have considerably added to rider safety which is only to be desired and strived for but should they be made compulsory? As an example should Rye House be made to install one?
  19. Good as he is, even Nick can't be in two places at once! Hope the old man didn't get TOO wet!
  20. I bet they could tell a few between them!
  21. Spot on Salty - have been present at NL, Amateur and WTC meetings over the course of the last three days and have thoroughly enjoyed them ALL. More NL action tonight, then PL tomorrow.
