Naturally as you say a quite brilliant book of course Norbold and one that features a piccy of a certain Hammers No.1 on it's outside back cover giving the thumbs up to British Speedway - and boy didn't he grace our circuits over the years! Whilst I can swear on my brother's next door neighbour's cat's kittens lives that I was NOT around in 1931/32, I know that I DID attend the opener and the Ipswich match. As to programmes.... must sort the shed out ONE day! Can't guarantee they are there though! One last point, feel sure my late great ex-Mother-in-Law used to tell me frequently how cute Ben Howe looked on his MacDonalds bike! Bryn
  2. Sound words indeed Vince and down this way (Kent) alas, it appears that junior grasstrack is far less prevalent than years gone by when there were two excellent junior grasstrack clubs in operation. Although I haven't had contact with either of them for some while I feel certain that both Phil and Neil will read and digest any logical and helpful suggestions anybody might make in addition, no doubt, to trying to bring any plans / ideas they may have had themselves to fruition if at all possible.
  3. Good stuff from all concerned especially Sue and the lads in Oz - Graeme and BFD. Thanks.
  4. Tell him he's got to write neater then!
  5. Only a bit lubricated BFD??? You are slipping!
  6. Fair enough Shadders and can we therefore assume someone bought you a pack of Rockets boxer shorts for Xmas?
  7. Do I? Whether or not speedway does find a place somewhere on the site remains to be seen post-Olympics but I do know there are parties keen to try and persuade the relevant authorities that it should be so. I wish them well in their efforts! P.S. I've received nothing from Bucky Palace so would be interested to learn where you heard of me being made a Lord! What expenses am I entitled to claim?
  8. Will your brochure for post-2011 British speedway season tours 'down under' be available to view on the internet in due course BFD?
  9. Er.... please leave your scissors at home if you come to the island!
  10. Hope the combined effects of the heat / alcohol don't get to the texter(s) and see them pass out before the last few heats!
  11. Ah thanks for the explanation Ian and am glad the ban is not on Bert! I didn't catch all the item but I've since been told that apparently there are some American Government officials in Scotland looking into the possibility of lifting the ban on the import of Haggis to their country from Scotland. Previously it seems the product had been deemed 'unsafe!'
  12. I heard on a radio news bulletin earlier something that I'd never heard before and that is that Haggis is banned, and has been for 40 years, in America! Anybody know what dear old Bert 'Haggis' Harkins did to so upset the Yanks?
  13. Would love to see Cribby make a comeback! Did you get any piccies of him in tears as he stood on the rostrum at Assen I believe it was Conkers?
  14. Oh how I wish I was there to let you buy me a beer BFD but having to content myself with watching live updates whilst drinking coffee with a shot of Bundy added as that's the only option I've got right now! PS hope Lunchy's texting finger can stand the strain!
  15. Congratulations to Chris Holder on his victory in the first round of the 2011 Australian Championship held at Kurri Kurri today. For full scores / heat details go to: http://www.speedwayupdates.co.uk/
  16. I was up at the crack of dawn this morning to watch the cricket (and the odd view of the locality that was shown and made me feel even more cheesed off that I'm not out there!) and now I'll have to do likewise for a second day running. Not good at my age!
  17. Excellent news - let's hope the move comes off.
  18. I haven't got a clue what you posted originally Parsnips old fruit so have no axe to grind either way. The fact remains though, as I said, if you don't like the way the moderators undertake their tasks on the BSF then you DO have the option of setting up your own forum! The choice is yours isn't it? As is mine with what view I take on things!
  19. Well surely you could set up your own forum in that case then if you're not happy with the way the BSF is run and there you could post away to your heart's content? The choice is yours isn't it?
  20. So are you now saying you bought three of his books Parsnips Old Fruit? If so, at least it's cheaper than watching Arsenal v Manchester City eh?
  21. So are you now saying Parsnips Old Fruit that you have only read one of his books and that book contained several hundred thousand 'word choice errors'? Which one was that then?
