  1. 8.00am RACEDAY WEATHER CHECK: Have no idea why I'm here at the track at this ridiculous hour of a Sunday morning but am pleased to report it's sunny, warm, not a cloud in the sky so come on down and support the young Brits. Further updates later. Any queries (apart from "is it on cos it's raining here in Outer Mongolia!") then please phone 01708 863443.
  2. This league is labelled as a 'development' league and, as such, is designed to help inexperienced riders gain racing experience on different tracks as they look to progress their careers from the 'training schools' stage to gaining a team place in the NL and/or PL and from there, well that's down to them and their own talent, dedication and other factors that affect all speedway riders. By its very nature it will mainly feature young riders but there's no age limit as such as riders who are not teenagers when they take to the sport and achieve success (e.g. John Louis) might well emerge from the schools. The AJDL is open to UK passport holders with ACU licences only and excludes any rider previously in a PL declared 1 to 7, any rider who has achieved a 5.01 or more end-of-season NL average and any rider who has made 50 or more NL appearances regardless of average.
  3. At junior grasstrack racing's height in Kent there were two junior grasstrack clubs operating. Both produced a stream of young talent that went onto achieve speedway team places and, ultimately, success on the shale. Those two junior clubs were KYMC and KYGTRA.
  4. Sometimes you can only shake your head in sheer disbelief at postings on the BSF!
  5. Latest weather update for Ryde is for any showers to move away within next hour or so and thus NO problems are anticipated with tonight's match going ahead. Start time 7.30pm.
  6. Alas Jayne, I fear that's probably a bit of advice that's far too sensible for some to understand!
  7. Indeed you are correct 'nick' with your explanation concerning the naming young Danno, the latest in line of the racing Veggies, and determined to show his dad Steve how good HE might have been back in his day! Whilst I'm on here, anybody know the whereabouts nowadays of former Hackney junior "Fitzy" namely Mick Fitzpatrick?
  8. Heat details follow 'Khabiboulin' but whilst it may be disappointing for you personally, there are several most valid reasons why the Lakeside Hammers management have opted to stage Anglian Junior Development League matches before Elite League action rather than after it. One major reason, amongst several others, is the fact that track curator Gerald Richter and his band of willing trackstaff volunteers have to take down and store the entire speedway circuit safety fence after every Friday meeting to enable Saturday stockcar practice to go ahead - and that's no five minute task. Now onto Friday's heat details from the Young Hammers 21-14 victory over Mildenhall's Fen Tiger Cubs as promised: 1. Baldock, Graver, Strudwick, M.Pearce (fell). 66.1 (3-3) (3-3) 2. (3 riders only) Laurence, Sheppard, Kingston. Knuckey ns. 65.1 (3-3) (6-6) 3. Laurence, Baldock, Sheppard, Graver. 64.2 (3-3) (9-9) 4. Kingston, M.Pearce, Knuckey, Strudwick (fell). 63.8 (5-1) (14-10) 5. Laurence, Baldock, Graver, M.Pearce (f/rmtd). 64.2 (2-4) (16-14) 6.(re-run) Kingston, Sheppard, Knuckey (ret), Strudwick (fell-ex). 63.8 (5-0) (21-14)
  9. Winning time for heat 4 last night Parsnips old fruit was 69.2 according to a copy of the official programme given to me after the meeting. I missed it too but we both have a really good excuse as it had got rather dampish at that stage hadn't it?!
  10. Why don't you phone him and suggest that's what you think he should do then?
  11. Stadium scheduled to open at 2.30pm, Parade 4pm, first race 4.15pm - all times approx but that is what is due to happen.
  12. It was Steve Brooker Parsnips old fruit for sure..,. BELIEVE it was Dave Hooper but will check later this morn trusting that you are not referring to 'Super Dooper' Johnny Hooper??? Many happy memories of that place - the only speedway track where I heard a speedway dad ensure his son was ready for action to come each week by uttering those immortal words, "Now you have remembered to have gone to the toilet now haven't you William?"
  13. Not totally sure what has happened to your posting above 'westhamboy66' which seems to have got intertwined with my earlier posting! If you can sort out, then I'll do my best to respond to any points of yours that you are trying to raise.
  14. Maybe, maybe not 'speedyguy' bearing in mind the aggregate scoreline over the two legs was 104-80. And as for heat 11 kerfuffle 'Jef', it would seem that James Sarjeant throttled off rounding first bend as he thought he saw the red lights come on and he thought race had been stopped. Red lights hadn't come on (maybe he caught sight of rear/brake lights on vehicle travelling towards clubhouse?) and you saw he cruised round back to the start line. Have some sympathy with him if that was the cas but what he shouldn't have done was then remain on the track on his bike leaving the ref no option other than to stop the race in the interest of safety disqualifying James as the cause of the stoppage.
  15. Don't panic! (As someone once said to Captain Mannering!) The club's management will cross that bridge when they come to it. Meanwhile, with Nick unable to really give a timescale on his recovery from his double wrist fracture, and the fact that Kyle couldn't really guest ad infinitum to replace him until Nick is back, Kyle was signed. As to tonight's meeting, rain has moved away, the Isle of Wight is still in place, tonight's meeting is ON - are you coming? If so, see you there!
  16. Fixtures have been done up to end of June for all clubs so expect them to publish their fixtures shortly. Had hoped to complete the list in total in last ten days but have been laid low with an almighty grotty bug which has led me to spend more time in bed than out of it! Just to confirm that the primary purpose of this Anglian Junior Development league, and indeed it's Midland equivalent, is seen as a chance to provide track opportunities for youngsters who are looking to 'move up the ladder' as it were and are hoping to, when ready, move into the NL and ultimately further.
  17. Parsnips old Fruit - feel sure Len made the right decision and you might care to have a look at: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/radar/index.html
  18. These leagues are officially designated as Regional Speedway Development Leagues. I will be releasing full official details of the Anglian League once everything is finalised.
  19. With the surname you've given him 'Mr Snackette' it looks as if Cory should be quick out of the starts for Plymouth this year!
  20. Terrible news indeed for Chris and his family in particular, not to mention Rye House and their fans of course. My thoughts are with Chris and his family - let's hope that the operation is successful and that we'll have positive news on him soon.
  21. Alas Main Man I too would dearly love to be there but I'm in the same boat as have no transport from here near Dartford and whilst I could get there by train, I couldn't get back same day. Would have stayed up overnight but have hospital appointment with a consultant Monday and getting one of them is like winning the lottery! Like you I'm gutted and dearly hope the place is packed out...Guess we'll both have to wait and get the DVD!
  22. Gutted! Can't attend Sunday but will get the DVD! Hope there's a bumper crowd for this meeting.
  23. Buxton have named five riders so far from what I can see, the same as both Stoke and Rye House I believe. Their first schedule meeting isn't until Sunday April 15th and that's a challenge match with their first NL match seven days later so, to coin a phrase... Don't panic! Don't panic! Don't panic!
