  1. Neither judging by the Wimbledon Dons polo shirt he wore at Sunday's STRA meeting at the Norfolk Arena!
  2. The Southern Track Riders Association stage their latest meeting at King's Lynn tomorrow (Sunday August 12) with the action commencing at Noon. Why not come along and enjoy the action - free admission of course. DO, at some stage, pop up and see me in the ref's box and witness some action from there?
  3. With respect HT from the info imparted to me by the ref, it was the riders themselves from who said they couldn't see clearly at the entrance / exit at the first/second bend, thus couldn't judge positions on track / distances from rider(s) in front of them making it dangerous at track level. Were you standing on first bend banking or sitting in the grandstand perhaps and thus looking down on the circuit rather than being at track level? I can certainly vouch for the fact that when a break in racing was called for, from the officials' box you just couldn't see riders racing down the back straight with any real hope of being able to distinguish helmet colours and thus being able to know which rider was which! Must admit that last night was certainly a brand new experience for me in my 40 years plus involvement in the sport for it was the first EVER time I've put out an announcement that an up-to-date shipping forecast was being sought as part of the process of deciding if racing could continue!
  4. Ben Hopwood's score was 11 - we were dashing to get 10 o'clock ferry back to Pompey (which thankfully we just managed to get aboard) when I phoned through result from my mobile and obviously was misheard. Other scores are as shown - Lewis Kerr's includes a 4 point TR in heat 11 whilst Gary Irving fell whilst taking a TR two heats earlier and was disqualified from r/r Kyle Hughes had something of a nightmare with machine problems leading to a 2 min exclusion in heat 4, Islanders forced to track just one rider in heat 7. a win on a borrowed bike in heat 11 to beat TR Kerr and retiring after just one lap in heat 13 after being handicapped 15m for exceeding 2 min allowance!!
  5. DON'T worry about the others 'conk98' - just go out there and concentrate on what you are doing each and every time you take to the track AND, most importantly, enjoy yourself!
  6. The rule that covers it is numbered 15.5.2. Basically ALL riders in the race must have completed a minimum 2 laps before the referee has discretion to award that heat. End of discussion?
  7. Sadly it appears that Peterborough's Olly Allen suffered a broken arm racing in Poland yesterday - go to: http://www.peterboroughpanthers.co/ for full story. A speedy recovery Olly!
  8. So by saying that Parsnips old fruit, are you now claiming that you actually have lead in your pencil??
  9. Are you therefore admitting that you're easily led then Parsnips old fruit?
  10. Alas greyhoundp, you've got your 'Smalls' mixed up! Try SmallBROOK although I, and many others wish SmallMEAD was still a speedway venue too.
  11. I think everybody will realise that as the aim, but what are the chances of that aim being achieved is the question!
  12. Indeed it was great to see Matt there last night looking good as indeed it was Mark Simmonds too who is on holiday on the Island with his family. Mark told me he's fully recovered from his last bad knock and, indeed, had had a skid BUT he said he is definitely NOT going to make a comeback. As to the match itself, well not much you can say really apart from a comprehensive win for the Heathens and a comprehensive defeat for the Wightlink Islanders who never looked likely to win! Ah well, at least they've got something to aim at that being pulling back a mere 28 point deficit in the forthcoming second leg of the KO Cup semi at Smallbrook!  Now to be serious for a moment, what do Heathens fans see as the future for the club? WILL they be able to find a venue of their own? WILL they move out of the NL if so? Just interested in people's thoughts (and hopefully, the return of pork sarnies at a speedway track!).
  13. Would like to be there but sadly it clashes with the Lee Richardson Memorial meeting being held at Arena Essex that night.
  14. Having seen him in action a few times now, including Rye House on Saturday and Peterborough last night, he's a good 'un! Island fans will be interested to know that Matt Tressarieu will be in the pits with him.
  15. As I understand it (but am open to correction if I'm wrong) said 14 year old prospect cannot be permitted to race a 500cc machine in our league set up as necessary insurance coverage in UK only covers riders aged 15 upwards.
  16. And it should also be borne in mind the excellent work being carried out by the BSPA (yes those who knock that organisation - THE BSPA!) through the Youth Championships being overseen on their behalf by Phil Morris and Neil Vatcher.
  17. Thanks for your concern Dave and pleased to report I'm fine thanks - still gutted at missing that meeting mind you!
  18. And there was I believing John Louis and not Chris was the promoter at Ipswich 'alljack!' Just goes to show how wrong you can be doesn't it?
  19. For me? Well two because firstly it's Sverre Harrfeldt because him crashing got me into all this and here I am some 46 years later! And secondly, not a rider but Crayford Speedway which led to me meeting my ex-wife and thus be presented with my gorgeous daughter. Blimey I've written all that WITHOUT having a single drink - and NO, no doubles or triples either!
  20. AND at the Red Lodge too - surely irresistible?
  21. Strewth Mother T! You ARE on the warpath on this and other threads this morning!
  22. Will leave it to others to preview the above plus AJDL match between Fen Tiger Cubs and Lakeside Young Hammers. I'm basically looking for a lift, if possible, from anyone travelling via the Dartford Tunnel. Sunday Brunch or Dinner at the famous (or is it infamous?) Red Lodge on me for anyone who can help. Is that possibly you? PM me if so please.
  23. Just checked - meeting ON so we are leaving now for Pompey! See you all at Smallbrook tonight!
  24. Who the heck is the referee because whoever he is he's an absolute disgrace in terms of allowing totally unsatisfactory starts!
