The Darren & Sharon Boocock Speedway Scholarship.
Bryn replied to marcusthepom's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Totally agree Vince! -
The rules under which all league matches on licensed tracks ran last season, as has been pointed out to you Derek, were freely available to all via the SCB website at: http://www.scbgb.co.uk/ but never mind, for this thread is about the possibility of Plymouth entering a side in said league so let's get back to that eh?
-
What's spurious about said reference? Are you inferring that it's false / bogus / fake / forged and others which are all synonyms for said word?
-
Because I felt like doing so as it's the league's correct full title as you well know Parsnips (at least you should do! ), and by doing that try to ensure your mate 'gustix' didn't get hold of the wrong end of the stick as he appeared to be doing in his posting that prompted me to post on this thread.
-
Don't know what you are getting so worked up about Parsnips old fruit for might I suggest that you take a look at page 37 in the 2013 Speedway Regulations for starters and you could then go onto page 41. If you can't find your copy, then you could always go to: http://www.scbgb.co.uk/pdf/regulations/2013%20SPEEDWAY%20REGULATIONS.pdf Granted the working title is shortened to The NL.
-
Let's not get too carried away right now "gustix" for although I as an avid supporter of the National Development League would hope to see more clubs join it including maybe Plymouth, no official announcements have been forthcoming at this stage. I think we should bear in mind that within the original newspaper report one of the Plymouth's co-promoters, David Short, stressed that the creation of a NDL side was just being talked about at that stage and feel it best to wait and see what official news emerges from the league's AGM on December 10.
-
It was drummed into me at an early age that "everything comes to he who waits." Alas patience, especially on this forum at times, no longer appears to exist!

British Speedway Promoters Meeting

Are you sure it's not "guerilla marketing?" -
Are you going to do as I suggested then Parsnips old fruit?
-
That'll teach me to start a thread before having my second Welsh Rugby Union mug full of coffee on any morning! Topic title duly amended!
-
There's still life in the old boy which is good to hear! Go to: http://www.gillmanspeedway.com/

Adding to my posting above, as I said there's a long way to go until the start of next season and an interesting paragraph on page 3 (NO The Sun lovers not a photo!) of the current Speedway Star that could see an expansion in numbers of teams.
-
Sadly the way things stand at present TDM that might not be the case BUT there's a long way to go until the start of next season so let's wish that your hopes, which I share, come to fruition.
-
So then are you going to set up a separate website Parsnips old fruit?
-
Simple answer then Parsnips old fruit surely is for you to set up a separate website, do the necessary research and then, once you've got all the info, transfer all the details you've gathered to the website you've set up?
-
I'd like to see the Isle of Wight in a position to state that there will be National League speedway at Smallbrook in 2014 but the signs aren't that good at the moment alas.
-
No worries sir ( I use this word as I think that whilst some like internet names I'm not a fan and it would sound daft to me to use "The Abbott" ) and let me say I certainly didn't think for a moment that your original posting was 'having a go' at anyone. However I felt I should draw attention to the campaign being in existence with full details being carried on the Wightlink Islanders OFFICIAL website. Personally speaking I've always considered that any club's official website is the most accurate source of any details / info / news that I might want to seek out about that club and, of course, there are links to all club's official sites on the BSPA website. I'm glad to be back, although bored with the close season already and perhaps wishing too that it would have been possible for me to go to Australia for three months - hopefully next year!
-
At the moment VV I honestly can't answer your question as I've never been one to keep stats on that sort of thing. In addition to believing I have boxes of them in my shed outside as I've said, I do also have a drawer packed full of them, and indeed Dons Digest's too, in this room but that drawer is the bottom one in a storage cabinet in this room and given my recent replacement hip op, somewhat frustratingly, I can't bend down to get to them!
-
Prominently featured on the home page of the club's OFFICIAL website at www.iowislanders.co for many, many, many weeks now has been a link to the "Smallbrook Airfence Campaign" sir!

Bryn replied to cityrebel's topic in National League Speedway
Gutted I won't be there tonight but really pleased that I will be at Smallbrook tomorrow. My wish is for there to be big crowds at both venues and like 'greyhoundp' really hope that all riders in both teams avoid injury - we've seen too many of those in 2013. -
Ah I see, going through a company called ExactEditions eh Phillip? And there was I trying to get my head around just how your good self, Clarkie, Scunny and Dave F had managed to become 'computer whizz kids' and set this all up!
-
I was at London Road too that night and still can't believe it was thirty years ago! I'm confident that I've still got my meeting programme somewhere here but think it's probably in my shed somewhere amongst the box loads of old programmes, Kestrel News's etc up there halfway up my jungle resembling back garden BUT do know where my red and yellow with black trim jacket complete with Kestrels badge embroidered onto is as I tried it on earlier - AND it still fits! Can't remember how much I had to pay Alf Weedon for it! Shame the planned club reunion tonight was called off a while ago but perhaps it'll happen next year eh? I'd love it to. Meanwhile I would remind all of the website dedicated to Crayford Speedway that can be found at: http://www.crayfordkestrels.co.uk/

Bryn replied to cityrebel's topic in National League Speedway
Indeed, weather permitting of course, it will be held at Smallbrook next Wednesday, start time 7pm. Official press release confirming that and looking back further on last night etc, to be issued by club within next 30 mins or so. -

Bryn replied to cityrebel's topic in National League Speedway
Hopefully the date for the staging of the IOW leg will be officially confirmed by the club via a press release later this morning, that's the plan BUT do bear in mind the agreement of brilliant club sponsors Wightlink to allocate ferry crossings from Pompey and back has to be obtained. -
