  1. Suggest you may like to go to Lakeside's official website which explains why the Vortex Hammers will be at Blunsdon this Thursday - weather permitting that is!
  2. Point of information: In keeping with the nature of Sundays in general, Millsy's engine was somewhat holy after yesterday's meeting looking at the piccy he tweeted earlier! Ever a trooper though, I see he's riding tonight
  3. Suffering from a tummy virus Friday, didn't have a good match at Lakeside last night, couldn't find a hotel room in Luton last night after receiving late call up to ride in Poland today so slept on Airport departure lounge floor, early flight to Poland and wins first race! Typifies what a crazy world speedway riders live in!
  4. You couldn't be more wrong if you tried in terms of your vitriolic personal attack on a person who, amongst others, has worked his wotsits off for the club this year. This personal attack of yours is indicative of what is posted on the BSF and certain other speedway forums nowadays unlike back in 2003 when you and I joined it. I find it sad that you have apparently jumped on the growing bandwagon of seemingly slagging off everything!
  5. Who can name the team (and year) that a UK league side were given unique individual nicknames by their promoter who dubbed himself "Gaffer?" And if you can do that please go on and clarify which rider he named "Hammer," "Rawhide," "Bronco," "The Kid," "Bad Dog," "Maverick," and "Shotgun."
  6. 6pm FINAL WEATHER CHECK: No rain at all here at the track since last night and threat of possible showers that were intimated earlier today has evaporated. MEETING DEFINITELY ON - FIRST RACE 8pm
  7. 4.30pm HERE AT TRACK: Bone dry - meeting definitely ON unless weather changes dramatically. 8pm start.
  8. We're just about to set off from sun-drenched Kent for Saddlebow Road and hope weather will be the same when we get here. With due apologies to those concerned, if you were thinking of bringing Bertha along with you then please don't!
  9. MY MISTAKE! (put it down to lack of kip! ) for the Workington match was the one I was thinking of! Time for bed Zebedee!
  10. Are you referring to the 65-12 victory recorded by Crayford over Exeter under the old 13 heat format at London Road?
  11. DECISION TAKEN AT 16.43pm TO POSTPONE TONIGHTS MEETING AS STEADY RAIN FOR THE LAST HOUR HAS PUSHED TRACK CONDITIONS BEYOND THE THE LIMIT. NEW DATE TBA
  12. 10.15am here in Erith 1 mile from the Dartford Crossing: Had about 10mins of light 'mizzle' an hour ago and currently the sun is trying to break through the high cloud cover overhead. It therefore remains to be seen how the weather situation develops from hereon in especially if you look on the various internet weather sites and look at the IR Satellite and Rain images which show a rain band off the south Irish coast. I'm sure the Lakeside club will monitor the situation regularly and will update myself here circa 1pm or before in weather changes dramatically.
  13. Providing the other four of Kent's top five all ride on Monday it'll be R/R to cover for Simon as he's second, behind Ben Morley, in the Kings' August averages.
  14. Sitting here at home in Erith (just across the Thames from the track) at 5.15pm, it's been and still is raining for the last quarter of an hour or so. Luckily we haven't been hit though by the heart of the storm that this rain is obviously part of with rolls of thunder seemingly a little way away. From memory the doors were able to be opened in that way for that particular meeting Mr Stummings thanks to a five figure sponsorship deal for the meeting. Do you honestly think that level of meeting sponsorship (allowing for an increase thanks to costs of staging meetings in 2014 are a lot more than back in those days) is available now? PS: 17.32pm and STILL raining here (see above). PPS: Stopped raining here 17.45pmish - sun briefly broke through but dark clouds I can see in the distance appear to be heading this way.
  15. I figured that whistlegang but I'm sure there are others on this forum who would go into raptures at having something else to moan about as they normally do. Now coming up to 3pm and we'll be heading home shortly - hope there's something to eat in my fridge!
  16. Having been here at the track since 11.30am and thankfully with the BTengineer having got the phonline working again, with respect to "whistlegang" I believe the call off decision was correct. Why? Because from 1pm until circa 1.40pm we suffered heavy, and I stress HEAVY, rain here thanks to a storm overhead. MORE such storms are forecasted for the area between now and 8pm.
  17. See my subsequent posting to the one you've quoted "westhamboy66". I stand by what I said and accept you obviously don't agree.
  18. Indeed we do ALL have the freedom to choose how we spend our money and I full accept that, of course, it's entirely up to you whether you attend tomorrow or not. My own feelings are that I envisage a closely fought match between two teams of roughly equal strength (at least on paper but we all know it's on track that matters!) with each side containing a rider riding in this year's Premier League and not in the NDL. Other riders I'm really looking forward to seeing in action in the match apart from Adam, Ben and club asset Jack Kingston, are the trio of Arron Mogridge, Connor Coles and Luke Chessell - the only trouble being I'm old enough to have seen their respective dads race goodness knows how many times! Adult admission HAS been reduced and the admission cost for ALL children of school age will be just a quid the press release goes onto state. I don't know but I suspect we won't have a 'full monty' normal programme and there'll be a reduced cost edition for those wanting to buy - it's not compulsory to do so is it? Money will still have to be found to cover stadium hire, the cost of medical cover, insurance, referee's fee and other fixed costs. I'm looking forward to it and would hope that there are a lot more other folk who are too.
  19. I've heard speedway promoters nationwide get blamed for many things by some people posting on the BSF over the years, but I think you've created a first! You seem to be inferring in your post that the Lakeside promotion should further reduce the admission price for this meeting because of the costs of using the Dartford crossing to get to the track from south of the River Thames, set by the French firm that run it. You don't HAVE to use the Dartford crossing do you? You could use the Woolwich Ferry, the Rotherhithe Tunnel or the Blackwall Tunnel for example, all of which are free but I suppose you'd blame Lakeside for the cost of extra fuel used going via any of those!
  20. Those are the July rolling green sheet averages for the duo (and better people than I would be required to explain to you WHAT factors go into calculating "rolling GSAs") that came into force at the 1/7/2014 amongst the new averages for all seven of the Hammers declared 1 to 7 and took into account EL matches ridden up to and including the 'cut off date' of 23/6/2014. As my ageing brainbox understands, or maybe thinks it understands, they wouldn't change until new averages are issued to apply w.e.f. 1/8/2014 that will also take into consideration any EL matches ridden by the Lakeside Hammers from 24/6/2014 to 23/7/2014. Good question!
  21. And what would you suggest his green sheet average would have been then for August bearing in mind we haven't reached the cut off date for those to be calculated yet?
  22. Speedway office phoneline up the swanee so please don't bother phoning as BT can't fix tonight. No other probs and it's hot hot HOT! Hopefully the track action will be too! Junior racing 7.30pm, first race main meeting 8pm.
  23. Totally agree with you Star Lady and that might well be a first!
  24. Because without that info AJiK I couldn't truthfully answer the question as to whether or not things HAD improved in respect of the PA system since you were there! All I can now say is that no one came up to the officials box on Monday to pass any adverse comment so I'm pretty confident it has! PS: Awaiting someone to now post that there were no adverse comments passed on the subject in question because no one could hear what I was saying!
  25. Re No.5 on your list, what was the last match you attended at Central Park then AJiK?
