  1. So sad to hear of the passing today of Malcolm Simmons who succumbed to the serious illness he's been suffering from for some time. It was truly an honour to have known him, worked with him, interviewed him and marvelled at his riding skills for so many many years and I'll always be grateful to him for providing me with so many wonderful memories. R.I.P. Simmo mate - neither I nor the speedway world will ever forget you
  2. Just heard - meeting POSTPONED. (via BSPA Press Office).
  3. My thoughts are with Simmo, wife June and all his family members at what must be this testing time for them all.
  4. Mike, you are up in the area so what was your rush? The club's organisers were, I suspect, en route to Norfolk and may not have had, nor yet have access to the internet (we haven't all got all-singing, all dancing mobile phones!) under those circumstances. I personally got up at 7am as the intention was that I would be picked up at 8.30 to travel up there where it looked likely I would have to act as ref and announcer. I was still racing (as best I can as an old git and bearing in mind i'm not, and never have been what might be regarded as a 'morning person!') when I received a text message at 8.25am to tell me today was off. I updated my Facebook profile AND the STRA page on Facebook - you could have looked there - and then carried on with such things as making a coffee for myself, taking pills etc. Having done all that, only now have I taken the option to look at the BSF and seen your postings. What I'm basically saying the info has been out there if you really needed it earlier and you'd searched for it. Bryn
  5. Well I'll get you started! Please tell me (at every track?) and tell me why they shouldn't please. MY experience over the years is that clubs have specific people who are listed as able to get in free e.g. trackstaff, sponsors etc. Would you say they should be charged?
  6. Alas not for I won't be at Coventry on Monday "CB252" as I'll be travelling from here to Sittingbourne and back (more than likely by cab to Dartford station and public transport including the dreaded 'bus replacement service' for part of the rail journey) to announce at the Kent CTA FIRE Kings home National League match against Mildenhall.
  7. I "assumed' you were of working age because your profile states that you're "over 40" and not that you are retired. I've no problem with you making the choice not to buy a programme at any meeting, it's your decision. And talking of assuming things, isn't it fair to say that you are doing just that when you state, "I would rather spend my money on going to a speedway meeting then on a bit of paper with a load of rubbish in it written by people like you which I have no wish to read?' Surely by not reading what's written you are assuming that it's 'a load of rubbish?'
  8. With respect I don't know either of your ages but, assuming you both work, apart from the cost of travelling to and from your place of employment, when you get there do you pay to go into the premises / site? And once in either, do you work for nothing? Just asking! The simple fact of the matter is that you have the choice of buying a programme or not and it's up to you to make that choice!
  9. You could always take one of your own blank scorecards to a meeting and filling in the rider details when the teams are announced over the PA system couldn't you? Or, may I ask, have you no interest in buying pens either?
  10. UT OH! Suggest you get hold of some top quality body armour and head guard Philip after referring to Mother T as a "tough man...!"
  11. Have checked up for you Mike and your spellings of both names are right, but were incorrectly shown on the programme sheet. Bryn PS: Anyone else you'd like clarification on?
  12. Meeting OFF - go to: http://www.peterboroughpanthers.co/ for details.
  13. For a full report on yesterday's match at Leicester and picture, go to the club's website at: http://www.kentkings.co/ and also read about Simon Lambert's Bronze Helmet defence. There's a small mistake in the Kent riders' scores shown in the posting above in that Benji scored 6+1. Simon Lambert's 14 included a Tactical Ride win i.e. 6 points and Ben Morley's 10 point tally included a 4 point score in his TR.
  14. Not sure who you're referring to John (especially after freezing my wotsits off at Scunthorpe and not getting to bed until 2am!) but if you want a full report of the Kings win yesterday theres a full report on the club's website I see.
  15. Looking forward to being there tomorrow as have gratefully accepted the kind offer of a lift. Every time I hoped to get to the circuit last year for amateur meetings, my mates from Kent who were at all of them helping out had a full car!
  16. Am awaiting further details but sadly for all like myself who knew him, and Oxford Speedway, it appears that that Norman 'Nobby' Hall was rushed to hospital last night and passed away earlier today. I'm honoured to have been able to count him as a close friend, my thoughts are with his family at this difficult time and I really hope you agree with me that we must now re-double our efforts to save Oxford stadium in his honour. R.I.P. Nobby
  17. So why not subscribe to the Telegraph 'Web Pack' at something like £20 a year? Go to: www.telegraph.co.uk/‎
  18. 4pm Monday April 14th JH followed by a 'Fans' Forum.' Full fixture list, as it currently stands on club's official website at: http://www.kentkings.co
  19. Wish I was in Oz!

  20. Thoroughly enjoying listening to Alex Harvey double CD that arrived today and then looking forward to a Chicago Blues compilation featuring tracks by the lies of Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson II etc.

  21. Pleased to hear BUT will roast pork and stuffing sarnies be on sale at your home meetings?
