  2. I read the article, and if they tried everything, who does it come down to in the end? I'm more than happy to see a British rider in the GP's, but only one that is good enough and can compete with the top guns. He's not the only one struggling, and others have a better foundation to build their case on, exept being British.
  3. Home track, shmome track... It's a small advantage. Holder and Holta has Torun as home track.
  4. No. Not only based on nationality, which seems to be the case this year. Pedersen is also having his second crap season, and should not rest comfortably on his 3xWC. Britain will have to rely on GP wild cards next year, and perhaps next year someone will qualify through the challenge. People are slagging of Bjarne and PePe, but they won it fair and square. As for Ward, I hope he'll make it work should he get picked out, but look at Kolodziej, he's not having the season of his carrer, is he? He looked like a rocket last year, but have done so-so in the GP. But picking out riders on nationality is wrong, wrong, wrong.
  5. Great fun this one aswell. Loads of good fighting on the track. The "Russian Rocket" caught me by surprise also, but I guess Gollob din't see him coming either . Glad to see it worked out well. Ward did good, It's a pleasure to have Zorro in the game, I'm pleased to see Lindbäck doing well, and last but not least Holta making it to the semis. If the remaining GP's are as good as the last two, I'll be a very happy man.
  6. I see your point, and will not be surprised if he isn't awarded a spot, on count of being Polish. However IMO, nationality should not have been an issue as this is an individual contest. Had it been up to me, all riders hould have to qualify each year, and in the year the contest is held, not the year before.
  7. I can understand the economic and commercial reason to bring Harris in as a WC should he not make top 8, but why not have a permanent brit spot for the GP instead of all the trouble finding exuses as to why someone who hasn't deserved a spot should get one. So Harris in for the crowds at Millenium, and Nicki 'cause he might do something silly. Had Holta been in concideration had he taken a sick leave from the GP's? Is it punishment for biting your teeth together and having a go? I'm not exactly objective in this matter, but I can feel the frustration when he has to get top 8 or qualify, while others fly through either way. Holta ended last season on number 4, which is an outstanding merrit, and looked forward to be in contention for a medal this year. However he had a nasty crash wrecking both his wrists and is likely to undergo surgery. Still has a go in the GP's and rides league matches. I say give him one chance to prove himself. Had his performance been poor without injury, I'd shut up about it, but it isn't and I won't.
  8. Then we'll probably see him in the World Longtrack Championship at least.
  9. Keeping my fingers crossed for Holta. He has had a horrible season due to injury, and should be given one last chance to prove himself. Nicki is having his second crap season, unless he pulls it together the last rounds. Freddie also has the chance to step up.
  10. I enjoyed that one. High tension though with 4(!) TT's. I had hoped for Kylmäkorpi, but I'm very satisfied with Lindbäck another round.
  11. This year (and perhaps others) the World Longtrack Championship crashed with SGP. If Kylmäkorpi goes on to qualify, he'll have no chance of keeping his title, should he win this year aswell? Pity that one can't be a speedway and longtrack champion at the same time. Nevertheless: Go Joonas!
  12. A sensor costs next to nothing to install, I would guess. Shops have them in the doors going "ding-dong", and they could go ding-didly-dong in the ref booth aswell with an uneven start.
  13. The best GP so far this year, and a very good one all over. Dramatic and exiting right to the finish line in the final. The ref didn't impress me, but all in all a good evening.
  14. Quite the boring race yesterday. Only from the middle of the last set did we see some exiting racing. I won't stop watching, but the World Championship has been a bore so far. I'm expecting more from the top riders in the world, but what can one do when they are handed crap conditions? But, forever optimistic, I hope the remaining GP's will be more entertaining. Staging a GP in Norway would be great, but there are too many barriers in the way. First of all, the sport is marginal, and to fill Telenor Arena we would rely on a helluvalot of visitors, wich brings me to the next barrier: Money. Norway is expensive. Eff'king expensive. Tickets will probably cost £50 for the cheapest seat, beer £5 for a reduced pint (0.4 litres) and food like pizza slice or a hot dog the same. Getting from Oslo city to the arena will also be costly, so besides hotel, and getting to Oslo, don't be suprised if the price tag will be something around £150-200. It is cheaper for me who lives in Norway to travel to i.e. Denmark. But hey, if it can raise some awareness towards the sport, I'm all for it. It's just not practical, that' all.
  15. Norwegian Longtrack Champions 2011: 1. Bjørn G. Hansen 2. Kenneth Borgenhaug 3. Kim R. Juritzen All three riders are from NMK Drammen.
  16. This year the rounds have been boring, and the one in Gothenburg should never have been raced. So let's keep fingers, feet and eyes crossed, and hope for some real fighting and overtaking, and have a show worthy of the exitig thrill true speedway really is.
  17. Well, mine is different, 'cause I gave Michael Sjöqvist his 8 points in the summary, thus giving Grenland 21 points instead of 13 Scoresheet from Elgane hasn't been posted on the web, but here is heat by heat. Omsland, Herold, Groven, Thu Solberg, Skretting, Hansen, Salte L.Gunnestad, Thu, Ristesund, Sjøqvist, Salte, Haaland, Groven Moen, T.Gunnestad, Hansen, Ristesund Skretting, Herold, Haaland, Thu Moen, Sjøqvist, Omsland, Solberg L.Gunnestad, Skretting, T.Gunnestad, Haaland Moen, Herold, Solberg, Thu L.Gunnestad, T.Gunnestad, Sjøqvist, Omsland Skretting, Thu, Salte, Sjøqvist, Hansen, Solberg, Groven L.Gunnestad, Haaland, Salte, Ristesund Moen, Herold, Thu, Hansen T.Gunnestad, Omsland Moen, Skretting, Solberg, Haaland L.Gunnestad, T.Gunnestad, Herold, Skretting, Sjøqvist, Salte, Omsland L.Gunnestad, Moen, Solberg, T.Gunnetad Sjøqvist, Herold, Omsland Match these with the points from the previous post, and you'll have your scoresheet:) As for Div. 2, there has only ben one completed race. The one at Riska rained away, and they'll have to find another date. Amusing that round 2 was to be raced before round 1...
  18. Not at all. There must have been about 20 people, or less, exept the riders families, at Riska, and say about a hundred or so at Elgane. The meetings are hardly advertised, so you'll have to be interested in local speedway and check the web pages to know when they are held. The weather was marvelous both days, so that was no excuse to sit at home. It's sad, but I hope the up-and-coming riders provides new blood also fan-wise.
  19. Back from sunny Elgane, and there was much more action today, but disaster struck one of the best riders today aswell, as Rune Sola crashed even before the rides had lined up, and busted his bike There was much more passing and fighting today, and without Sola, Lars Daniel Gunnestad was undefeated. NMK Drammen - 29 Lars Daniel Gunnestad 3,3,3,3,3,3 - 18 Tomas Gunnestad 2,1,2,3,2,F - 10 Kjetil Ristesund 1,0,0,0 - 1 NMK Kristiansand - 28 Tord Solberg 3,R,1,1,1,1 - 7 Pierre Moen 3,3,3,3,3,2 - 17 Espen Hansen 1,1,2,0 - 4 Elgane MSK - 24 Tage Skretting 2,3,2,3,2,3 - 15 Tarald Håland 1,1,0,2, - 4 Geir Ove Salte 0,2,1,1,1 - 5 NMK Grenland - 22 Michael Sjøqvist 3,2,1,3,2,3 - 14 Emil Omsland 3,1,R,2,R,1 - 7 Magne Groven 1,0,0,N - 1 Riska MSK - 16 Rune Sola N,N,N,N - 0 Patrick Herold 2,2,2,2,1,2 - 11 Tommy Thu N,2,0,0,2,1 - 5
  20. I don't know about Inge Bjerk, but Mikke has retired according to an interview he did last year. Inge Bjerk is reserve at the second round of Long Track Grand Prix held in Norway, so he is still active, at least in Longtrack. I don't know why Raugstad isn't riding. As for Drammen, I saw them entering the track briefly only to roll the bikes off again, or not showing at all. Kjetil Ristesund was involved in a crash in the first heat, an his bike was probably rendered useless for the rest of the meeting. I'm not near the pits, so I can't really tell you the why's and why not's. Let's hope they'll get it together for tomorrows meeting at Elgane. The line-ups should be the same, exept for Riska, who are putting in Tommy Thu instead of Stein Roar Pedersen. Scoresheet can be found here
  21. A beautiful, sunny day at Riska and the first race in the Norwegian League. Sadly there was much engine failure amongst the riders, so many heats went on with three or two riders. Anyway, here are the results: Riska MSK - 32 Rune Sola 3,3,3,3,3,3 - 18 Patrick Herold 3,0,1,3,2,1 - 10 Stein Roar Pedersen 1,2,1,0 - 4 Elgane MSK - 25 Tage Skretting 3,2,3,2,2,2 - 14 Tarald Håland 1,0,2,3,1 - 7 Geir Ove Salte 1,0,1,2,F - 4 NMK Grenland - 21 Michael Sjøqvist 2,F,3,R,R,3 - 8 Emil Omsland 3,2,R,N,1 - 6 Magne Groven 0,2,3,2,0 - 7 NMK Kristiansand - 20 Tord Solberg 2,1,1,N,1,0 - 5 Pierre Moen F,2,2,3,3,1 - 11 Espen Hansen 2,0,2,N - 4 NMK Drammen - 13 Lars Daniel Gunnestad N,3,N,N,R,3 - 6 Tomas Gunnestad 3,N,R,N,2,2 - 7 Kjetil Ristesund N,N,N,N - 0
  22. Thanks. The Norwegian league is starting next weekend, and the first round is about 15 min. from my home, so i might get to see him in action then, riding for Drammen (although I hope for Riska victory ).
  23. Absolutely. Luckily the stream is working like a charm today. I guess Smedarna has got this one, but it has been some entertaining speedway, especially for last point.
