You'd think Smolinskis bike got checked back to front, inside out and all inbetween after that victory, and had they found anything out of order, protest would've been made, headlines had occured, and he would be on 0 points instead of 15. It's a longshot, but 3 danes and KK in the final. Stranger things have happened:) Crossing fingers for the weather forecast... Some say rain and some say not.

World Longtrack Gp
mothorsen replied to stevec's topic in Grasstrack, Sidecar, Short Track and Cycle Speedway
Too bad Forus had to let go... I enjoyed it, but there was hardly any attendance... I prefer speedway, but world class longtrack is also great fun. I wonder though about the new format with only five riders each heat... Will there be too much room and huge gaps between riders, especially on 1000 meter tracks? Go Kylmä! Yet another win this year! -
New Zealand Gp.

An accident, which happens all the time in speedway without yellow and red cards, banning riders and soforth. Is Ward born under a special star since his crash has to be punished? Did Laguta get banned after sending Gollob head first in the gravel? An accident, nothing more. It's the way the game is played. Get over it. -

What a final! Gratulations to Smolinski. Who would have guessed? IMO, Pedersen cutting of Holder was tough but fair. You ride to win, and if anyone but NP had done the same move, it would have been "brilliant" and what not. Best NZ GP, but far, far from a favourite track. Good start to the season. -
Quite an enjoyable meeting yesterday. Nice to see Antonio back in shape. I was rooting for Denmark, but what the hey.. Nice riding, with some thin heats (which there always will be), and a good start to the international season. As for the commentators, I've got norwegian Eurosport, and they did good

I agree that the GP is the right way to decide a world champion, but I'm not too crazy about "Great 8" and wild cards. Only three riders qualifying? Should've been max five riders, or even only the final rostrum who got to the next year without dropping the clutch. And the wild cards handed out are based on business, not performance. But what'cha gonna gadoo... Here's to next (injury free) season.

Petty jealousy. GP remains the biggest event, and should not feel threatened by SEC. And BSI and the Polish federation should play nicely together, or go sit in the corner. SEC, WTC, SGP and Best Pairs plus televised league matches from several countries?! Yes please and thank you. I've never watched so much international speedway as this season.

The Gp Points System
mothorsen replied to Eglese 19's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
And if he does, he's an overall better rider and world champion. This is the point of a Grand Prix, isn't it? To gather points over a number of meetings, and come out on top. -
The Gp Points System
mothorsen replied to Eglese 19's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I am glad they ditched the double points system. To win a single event does not mean you are the most consistent rider throughout the season. A winner leaves with six or five points more than he had after 20 heats, and this doesn't rocket him up the score chart just for winning a single event. 3-2-1-0 all the way. -
A decent meeting, but where was that fighting, relentless and quick Holta from Czestochowa on sunday? Well, well... At least the bonus point stayed in Kumla.

2014 Gp Calendar
mothorsen replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'd be surprised if they didn't stage one in Denmark, so where? Will Vojens be back? If they stage one in USA, I think they'll do it off-season, like Aukland, because of logistics and economics. And seeing as The first one is in NZ, I can't picture they'll do one in the States next year. -
World Cup Final
mothorsen replied to mothorsen's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
They've finally removed double points in the GP, which is fair. You get plenty of bonus points just making it to the final. Time to bring fair play in to the SWC aswell. -
Swc Perfect Rules - Any Ideas?
mothorsen replied to krompa's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Either this or reigning world champions get to defend the title. Seeding a team is wrong never the less. Meetings should also be held at neutral grounds, but we'd get two and a half people watching. Perhaps stage it at a venue which isn't a regular speedway track. Otherwise I quite agree. -
World Cup Final

Congrats to Poland, although I was rooting for Denmark. But what a horrible ref. Agreed. He went from last to second with Hampel miles ahead. -
World Cup Final
mothorsen replied to mothorsen's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Perhaps, but Ward can't ride all the heats, and are the rest of Oz better than the Czechs? Points can get dropped, jokers played, sudden engine failures and pure bad luck is always a threat. They are favourites for bronze, but who could predict yesterdays outcome? I for one hope it'll be a tight one with huge surprises, even though my money is on Denmark. -
World Cup Final
mothorsen replied to mothorsen's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Tactics like DK last year and US plus I believe GB pulled one aswell tonight is always an option with the rules being as they are. -
Australia won it; surely no shocker. But USA number two, then Latvia and GB last?! Not in a million years would I've brougt that bet to the bookies. Manzares deserves an Oscar for his absolutely convincing performance, but as long as it is allowed, and the joker is there, it came as no surprise. In fact the States would have been stupid not to. I dont't approve of anti-riding, but it was their only shot at leveling with Oz. But an exiting meeting as everyone were close a long way.

Brits Not Supporting Team Gb
mothorsen replied to Phil The Ace's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I would't mind him flying his true colours as I believe he's still got some years left in him. However I doubt he'll go back as there is absolutely nothing exept personal enjoyment to haul here. -

Gunnestad/Kyllingstad got bronze in the -91 pairs final. Glenn Moi and Jarle Skjæveland are good prospects for the future, and Sundvor earlier mentioned was the best non-dane in the YGT this year. I hope they'll get the right backing, sponsors and vital experience outside Norway. Right now a team would be Mikke Bjerk, the Gunnestad brothers and Rune Sola. There are lesser speedway nations, as our own, to compete against, and as long as the skill is leveled there is exitement and entertainment. But alas, never any funding. Back to topic, I'd support any Norwegian team, being from that country. -
Brits Not Supporting Team Gb
mothorsen replied to Phil The Ace's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Should Norway ever get a team back on track, I'd support them no matter what. But since they would never qualify, I'd root for one of the reminding teams, after Norway would be out. All the way to the final. If there's no one to cheer for, what's the point in watching? I like NKI and Kildeman as riders, but would never root for Denmark over Norway. But first we've got to get a team... -
Gollob sits it out.
