They put up a good show and fought for every point. They have all ridden well all season Rob but not necessarily all at the same time covering for each other as a team though to get them to the SF and 4 points from the final, they were expected to get hammered last night. As Byron said last night they have had some rotten luck along the way and considering no one gave them a hope at the beggining of the season and one thing BV management can be proud of is thta they did it with the same 1-7 as they started with with Charlie wright covering for Kyle for a couple of weeks. They have done well. Well done Scunthorpe should make for an interesting final with Mildenhall. Anybody who says the NL is a second rate product fulll of wobblers should have been there last night cracking meeting. -
Not saying the SS should sensor him but I don't think it is a true reflection of what actually happened from a team manager. Riders not wanting to ride relying on the play off cutt off date to get them through 'soft' 'chicken' same thing in my mind. I just found it a little coincidental that the 2 pieces sounded the same. I was there. I drove through what eventually hit Sheffield to get there. I saw the track staff fighting a losing battle with buckets to get the track sorted and eventually admitting defeat when the monsoon hit. I think one team were living in hope the other were possibly more realistic is possibly a better reflection of the night. I don't think we heard the Refs opinion on the track that would be interesting. This should have been put to bed now but obviously with the star issued a week later it just regignites things again. Anyway here's to the best team winning tomorrow. Forecast is good so should be a good night.

Interesting how you have used the exact words Parnaby used in the SS this week effectively calliing the Colts 'soft', and none of the Sheffield supporters, that were there, have agreed with you. Well I do hope the Colts read it. On here is fine but the SS is supposed to be a refelction of the sport. What a complete joke.

I'm sure it is all undercontrol but if not there is always Compton for the Diamonds or the Saints -

I also think you are being unfair to Kerr and other riders mentioned have you seen them ride????. How do you know they would devalue the product............ I do think the saints are worrying unduely and forgetting that BV are with out Becker and McKinna. I'm sure if the Saints were to win it would be a more worthy win if it were like for like team. As proved at Mildenhall when their win was a little diluted due to Stoke losing half the team in the first 4 hts -
Not to forget that a lot of them work full time to pay and have to do a full days work and preapre bikes and ride. Forgive me HT if I am missing the pojnt I keep hearing these phrases Dangerous riding....Dangerous riders......Dangerous tracks. Is it not the fact that it is a Dangerous Sport and people are going to get hurt and this is particular to key ties where there is no such thing as 2nd place only winners and losers.

My point exactly Steve has stated in the SS himself he was dissapointed with some of his performances and couldn.t understand why. A candidate, in my opinion, of some team's revolving door practice. So well done to Scunny for sticking with him and hopefully next year wil be a better year for him. It's no good giving the lads 2 or 3 odd PL meetings to see 'how they go'. They need full seasons. You can be 'in it too win it' and develop riders if you have the right set up as proved by Buxton last year with Branford Garrity and Morris. I think hoping to replicate it year in year out would be a little over optimistic and I would say a league dominated by 2 or 3 teams would be a pretty boring league anyway. Most teams have all had turns at the top 4 over the last 4 seasons although Kings Lynn's spell was as Boston but I'm sure their time will come.
-
Riders are given an opportunity in the PL but if they don't fire over night then they are dropped. Newcastle, Sheffield, Scunthorpe to name a few have stuck with their decisions to keep Worrall Worrall Newman and Birks. Well done to them. These will be even better next year and that in my opinion is development. Others like A Morris, to nmae one, have been subject to the revolving door practice and others like Knight, Kerr, Perry have never been given a chance, I am assuming, as I imagine they would have snapped up the chance if it was given to them. these are just examples there are many more. Unfortunatley there is a huge pressure on the reserves to win meetings for the teams EG Morris glasgow. That is no good for developing youngsters, too much pressure too soon. I feel this is why youngsters are struggling they cant just focus on the riding the trackcraft and racing skills. Pressure needs to be taken off the reserves and put back onto the H/L and with in reason the S/S who have developed all those skills. The main focus of the PL and to a certain extent NL is to find that outstanding reserve and not develop one.

Having read the press release from the Lakeside. There seems to be moves by British Promotions to get things moving. The newly formed Colts together with the existing set ups not going to name all. Hopefully there is a light at the end of the tunnel. This, I imagine, wont happen over night but lets watch this space and see if all the hard work pays off and lets get behind all these ventures http://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.13503.6

Yu need to rocognise a wind up when you see one....................I'm getting bored now so for that reason 'I'm out' As I seem to be the only one playing 'on your own'
-
I think BV agreeing to R/R when Wrathall got injured on a practice lap and agrreing to ride without 3 Ht leaders in NL fixtures speaks for its self dont you
-
I wouldnt say 'Who wanted it' I would probably say 'who needed it' anyway according to Mr Mungo's post it looks like BV have agreed to extend the deadline so that answers your question of BV's commitement.

How was seeing riders walking around in race suits gonna make the conditions any better and how would that make the riders any less or more up for it. Yes Sheffield desperatly hoped they could get the meeting on and fair play to all those who slogged it out on the track to try and achieve that but even the most blind optimist in the stadium could see the meeting was not going to go ahead. Bikes and equipment were all in the pits just squashed under cover to try and keep them dry. I do think you are clutching at straws a little there to find someone to blame.
-
To be fair Rob. alhough they will be greatly missed, these are lads who have played a big part in getting the boys into the play off's, I would say. Hopefully the remainder can step on it and back Howarth up. Although I'm sure everybody will be keeping their fingers crossed for Jason

Thank you for taking the time to explain, I'm not fishing to find out if you pay or not that is down to the individual and how they use it. If I don't like something then I don't go but obviously I didnt take into account you may have been going to watch the opposition. Anyway I'm sure teams and riders you help are greatful for your support and the rest are greatful of your admission fee. Long may it continue.
-
I didnt say he was a freeloader I just cant understand why he would pay week in week out to attend a track he obviously dislikes, the only solution I could come up with was, he doesnt. He may help out but he is mixing and socialising with people who the next day are going to get a slagging off on here. Obviuosly after reading his comments on the stoke thread there seemed to be a pattern emerging as he proceded to do the same on the Stoke thread. Anyway I dont know him I can only go on what he posts that can be a problem sometimes on here people can be taken out of context.
-
I disagree with your assessment of Stoke. the play offs are over 2 legs even though Stoke did drop some points at Loomer Road it looked like Stoke were set for a fight back before the 2 riders were injured possibly trying too hard who knows, this shows that not only is trackmanship essentialand ability but the right psycological approach to such occasions. I feel for Mildenhall who unfortunatly have a little bit of a hollow victory I'm sure every team wants to beat the strongest of teams. I felt Micheal Lee came across well in the press release in his assessment of the victory but now they have to move on I to hope the lads are all good soon and that Stoke can move on and focus on the 2nd leg of the KO cup as there is still a chance for them to get that.
-
You do seem to keep going back to BV for more. Why do you keep paying and travelling to watch such poor meetings or do you get in for free enjoy their hospitality and then come on here and slag them off thats the only reason why I can think that you go. BV have a crap track Stoke have poor team spirit anybody else you want to tear limb from limb while you are at it. It wouldnt be Mildenhall who have just put the airfence up today at the end of the season who excels I imagine. I would ask John Resch about that maybe he has a different opnion

Lets not forget while we bicker that there is a young man who has a broken collarbone who has been overlooked and will miss out on the second leg. I know Scunthorpe will make him as much a part of it as they can but it's not the same as lining up at the tapes. I'm sure all posters will join me in wishing him a speedy recovery.

Still not biteing

Anyway enough has been said in both camps. Are all these things 'iffy' or just some coincidences none of us will never know. Surfice to say the Scunny boys did well and I'm sure both Richie and Ashley are pleased with themselves to get the better of Garrity and Howarth not many people have claimed those scalps round Belle Vue I think we should all look forward to a good meeting next week whoever wins.
-
Nobody has mentioned the dubious bike not starting on track for all to see to allow Wrathall the better reserve to come in and stop the tactical. I supose he could have just missed the 2 mins but that may have looked a little suspect after a massive interval to attend to Irving.
-
I just think it is synonimous of the young struggling reserves who want to just take the opportunities where they can.I don't think pride comes into it. Hope Ben goes onto do really well and hopefully he wont put himself under too much pressure to perform.
