This Heeps argument does seem to have overshadowed the staggering progress a Brit has made at Mildenhall this season, one Lewis Blackbird, which is sad. As for the exciting riders it seems to me that you are happy for exciting riders just so long as they ride for Mildenhall cos if they belong to the visiting team they get........... woe be tied
-
Ament to that.!!!!!! Just hope there aren't any scouts out in oz preparing to supply another Heeps
-
The only way that could happen is if Cameron's mother or father or both produced a birth cert. stating they are british. (Branfords mum is from Yorkshire). If that hasn't happened and Ipswich win the title on the back of Cameron having a good season then I would say that it is a pretty poor affair if Ipswich are prepared to raise the cup and take the acollade then they have to live with themselves. Let all teams have whoever they want, I say, then everyone is on a level playing field instead of what appears to have been implied here which is backroom dealings.
-
I supose the thing is the way he came in was always going to raise an eyebrow or 2 as Branford and Morris didn't seem to have the same 'issues' and Alex Davies did. Lets hope a new controversy raises it's ugly head and this one will become tomorrows chip paper . Maybe they should revert to the old rule where patriality allowed you into the NL on 6 points. It would save all this
-
It was made toungue in cheek. Of course there are others.
-
I wouldn't say shame on you. Stoke for example wouldn't be able to track such a team as the supporters would vote with their feet having not long dropped down from PL. Then the NL would be down to 8 teams. All teams need to consider their supporters and their aims and cut their cloth accordingly. Doesn't look like Scunny are leaving many new riders for anyone else anyway. I still say best of luck for 2012 though
-
At the rate we are going Wrathall will be @ 1 but joking aside I hope this project works well for Scunthorpe.
-
I do think Paranby is overplaying the pessimism in the SS. I'm sure he knows what he is doing but I imagine all riders in the team wil go out to do their best I just hope if they read that that it doesn't affect their confidence unduely.

Lewis Kerr has already been announced as a Y S
-
Can't fault your enthusiasm but who did he ride for in the ML? I cant recall seeing him. I am a little purplexed as the ML only have 6 heats and Tom appears to have ridden in all but 1 of them in all meetings or is it a different ML you are talking about but I only know of 1
-
They have treid to keep the team under 25 for the past couple of seasons
-
Brandon Freemantle has done well this year and he ahs been able to just get on with it. I think the best thing to do with these lads who have no previous NL experience is to do just that just let them ride and not big them up too much because then they start to feel the pressure.
-
It will also be interesting to see which of the top riders make themselves available to the NL this year as a lot will want to focus on PL and guest bookings in the EL I imagine and those who for whatever reason have not made the grade may retire.
-
And there lies the secret the teams draw from 2 different fan bases and not relying on the same fans to turn out. People who support EL probably wouldn't turn out in large numbers even if it is to support the future they would probably wait till the future reaches their level. There are some die hard NL fans out there but the Dudley thing is different. I'm sure the Dudley fans given the choice would go PL or EL but that is probably inconcievable until a track is found and as the original press release said they will become Cradely when that happens. I hope somebody is working full time on getting this track as the fans deserve it but i'm sure as and when they do get their own track they will be waving bye bye to the NL. The ideal thing would be for the NL to go Amatuer but that wouldnt help the lads already struggling and certainly wouldnt attract riders from other disciplins which has kept the NL going recently.

I am sorry to hear that...Hope he makes a speedy recovery all the best to all concerned

Newport Vs Scunthorpe/sheffield 29/10/11 6pm
TMW replied to Fozzie4388's topic in National League Speedway
I just cant understand what the problem is with making this a learning curve for both promotions(although Newport have said they wont run a NL side next year which is sad). All team managers should have been down there looking for 'potential' in a full NL meeting. Managers are often looking at potential of single riders on track which is completly different to team events. There is much more to a league meeting than ability. As your team showed at Mildenhall(losing 30 odd points) psychology playes a big part aswell and it would have been good to see how these youngsters cope with this as that is one aspect of league racing development that is often forgotten. I am sorry that you were dissapointed with the team rolled out on Sunday but it wouldn't harm to take the positives. Hopefully some of these lads will line up for Scunny if all the campaigning works and RG decides to run again next season(I do hope so NL wont be NL without the title holders). One question a lot has been made of Scunny Saints being made up of NO.1's So obviously they are not going to be able to saty together next year who is going to ride for you next season? if you dont find some new talent. Well done to all lads old and new who took to the track on Sun and hopefully Matt, Brendan, Stefan, Adam and Rich gave them all food for thought. -

Sorry cant agree with you there. I wont be going but I wouldnt like to discourage anybody who lives closer and would make the trip.Hopefully a couple of 3 pointers may come from this meeting Your comments are all that is wrong with the league, I'm affraid. Everybody has to start somewhere fortunatly Worrall's and Birks learned their trade on MX tracks so you weren't put through the pain of watching them learn. Well done to both promotions they could have cancelled it but prefer to use the meeting wisely, due weather. Best of luck to Conor Dwyer come on lad give it all you got -
Lets hope the Colts can get over their dissapointment of the PO's with and go out on a home win. It's been an privalege to be part of the Colts set up this season the lads the management and supporters and hope they go on to bigger and better things in the future .
-
I do try and stay out of these things but find it so difficult. There is no question that the likes of Birks Worrall's and to an extent Nielson (who has been in the Danish League for 2 seaseons, I believe) have done well but please lets not forget that these lads have been extremly accomplished moto X riders with some considerable race experience to their credit who did a quick conversrion course to Speedway. They have also, I imagine thanks to Rob G, found themselves leap frogging many others into the PL fairplay to RG for promoting the lads well and therefore have had the benefit of the PL and all it has to offer.
-
I don't think it is getting your point that is the problem. I think it is casting certain aspersions.......Youngsters are more intereted in the latest Mobile Phone....Riders would rather have new covers than chains...... The question of commitment...... etc etc etc. I think if you had just put your point people may have tended to agree with you more although some do. I'm sorry Dean I don't believe you work a 60 hr week AND THEN start on your bikes (on your own) aswell as getting to the isle of wight. and last year Plymouth and Weymouth. An argument needs to be credible But I stand corrected if I am wrong
-
If voicing a different opnion is having a go then guilty as charged.......If it just looking at another side of the story then not guilty........ One thing I will say even if it is cheaper as Dean says to DIY. Would the top riders, who are as rogurteader says PL reserves who do do it for a living. ride for less money I think not. I'll leave you to decide!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would say if you want to watch X (naming no names) in the NL you are going to have to pay. it's a s simple as that. There needs to be more teams in the NL to give the lads more meetings 18 meetings a season unless you are in the PL is not enough to keep your riding up (nothing to do with finance but ability) going for a month here and a month there with no meetings is not good cos as in any walk of life you lose your momentum. Some riders have been known to have brilliant meetings and then had wait weeks to take it anywhere.......Challenges are good experience and I would like to see these to bring new riders through but they are not league meetings weather your team wins or loses affects your position in the table I say bring back NL Trophey etc..... I hope more teams track a team in 2012 but then you get into the territory of top riders being missing for a lot of the meetings because of PL commitments....... and would double up tracks have enough blank fixtures and would enough people attend 15 home meetings when they aren't attending 9.
-
No offence intended I didn't reply because unless Dean can do some of his bike work at work,(which some riders can because of the nature of their work), gets free help or he is an insomniac. Either way circumstances don't fit all riders and it is unfair to imply they should
-
Whatever
-
One thing you don't mention there is 'time'. Speedway rider working full time (and extra)mechanic working full time (and extra) to be able to afford the basics to build a bike from bits off e-bay. That would be all well and good for riders who don't work work part time or work only in the close season. To be fair most NL riders are using new silencers now anyway they have to have them in PL and if they want to guest they have to be, as I said ready to go. The ones that aren't are Amateur riders, NL guests and maybe junior championship
-
It's alright saying just NL but if any of them get a guest booking in the PL as that is their main aim......They have to be ready to step up to the plate at a moments notice are PL suporters going to take into acccount that the rider is on NL gear
