  1. The riders are just trying to play the hand they have been dealt the best way they can I'm not sure comments like yours although you are entiltled to them of course but in my opnion they aren't helpful aim them at the relevant parties not the riders. Al those riders you mentioned had to start somewhere I believe Greg Hancock was a slow burner
  2. You may have misunderstood my point it was a combination of all 3 that defines speedway it takes guts to sit behind someone because the mistake the rider in front makes could end you own career it's not for the faint hearted. Ye but if Karlsson had got passed then wouldnt that have been spectacular and I believe it will happen
  3. I feel a bit of a fraud commenting as I was not there last night as I was taking in the thrils and spills of the Junior championship at Leicester where I have to say I witnessed some very mature heads on very very young shoulders but I think you hit the nail on the head there there does seem to be very limited practice opportunity for these tournaments in other countries I believe there is a full day practicing the day before EG the European U19's in sweden some supporters who went to this tournament and witnessed the level of practicing that took place before the tournament and the lads struggled to cope with this and make the best use of it as they don't get this opportunity in this country they go staright into the tournament. This should be made a w/end affair where the whole of saturday is used for practicing and the sunday for the tournament itself then you would also aleviate this problem of home track advantage.
  4. My sincere apologies to all those taking part in the debate. I have been missing the point all along as I thought this was the definition of Speedway.....Put the person in front of you under presure to make him make a mistake or have the determination to win and the guts to find a gap where there may not exactly be one!!!!!!!!!!
  5. What an excellent night of Speedway and although the weather was bitter and a couple of nasty falls all the lads put on an excellent show. The highlight of the night being Connor Mountain's reaction to breaking down at the tapes in the 250 final (how unlucky was he?). but by far was the 500 final Bates verge stoneman Daniels well done those lads NL/PL/EL watch out they are coming to get you and they are not taking prisoners. Good to se the future of the sport in such rude health. I just hope these lads are given the support they deserve.. Wishing Kelsey Dugard al the best and a speedy recovery gave the centre green staff a scare and the pit staff were looking worried at one point. . ..
  6. and you haven't mentioned the benefit to the brit lads who ride against them what they gain from it. I know it's not the same tour but the meeting at Leicester last year was excellent.
  7. I have to say a very balanced view AAAt Laaaast !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.........Yes the track may not be perfect ok DH probably did make mistakes but you cant change whats gone. Maybe sack cloth and ashes apology to the supporters is required but if DH isn't that kind of guy then you are not going to get it. Any problems wont be solved overnight and if support dwindles then probably never. The view we will get of the track is in moth balls as we visit beamont Leys shopping centre well at least it is tucked round the back. I can remember sitting in the car on the BBR housing estate while my husband explained to me I couldn't picture it obviously but I have a full pic of BP and I don't want that. If any of you do, whatever greivences you may have with the promoter. Try to hold that thought I know for some people BP is already dead but is it fair to the rest of the 1500 supporters who don't come on here and winge they just want to be able to go each week. Lets hope not because no work will get done throught he open season.......Apart from anything wouldn't a reshape have to be licensed???.
  8. You carry on with your little campaign Mr Snackett wrote; "Just seen on the official Glasgow site that the promotion are to address the supporters of the club regarding the future off Glasgow Speedway it has been well documented that they have suffered severe financial loss in the title winning season and the cost of re-shaping the track was far more expensive than first thought . The failure to sell on prominent assets (Nick Morris , Josh Grajczonek) has hindered the club despite the supporters starting loads of initiatives to raise funds through the Glasgow Speedway fighting fund this club statement does sound rather ominous with the poor crowd levels being highlighted at the start of this season as a contributory factor on the decision to announce the future off the club beyond this season is this the beginning of the end for our proud club well we shall all find out this Sunday". Sorry but it speaks for itself . So do it's excuse me if I don't join in. Not negative Gemini just fact
  9. Totally agree. To get a website up and running is not an easy task, and all efforts to do so covering this level of speedway are much appreciated. I hope that it gets the level of support it needs to succeed.
  10. Show me where I had a dig at Scunthorpe; I refer you to MV's quote and who can blame him; ".I do not have to state on here in advance what my future plans are. If you are clever enough and know the rules perhaps you can work them out and stop calling us cheats. That is not clever and we are most certainly not cheats. But I make no apology for looking after the inetersts of my Club". I was making an observation of creative team building and Scunthorpe was the only team I could think of as an example. Do you have a better one ???? Please don't be under any illusion that what Scunthorpe do or do not do keeps me awake at night because I have a life
  11. As highlighted in a previous post even the most pedantic aren't immune to the odd gramatical 'pecadillo'.
  12. I don't think anyone is accusing anyone of cheating. I don't think anyone would cheat but there can be some colourful interpretations of the rules and some creative team building, evidence of this was Scunthorpe who reshuffle after reshuffle ended up with SN at no. 8 a 5 point rider all very legal as he was the lowest ranking rider in the team and of course his average wouldn't count in the points limit. I would wonder why Adam is not a permanent fixture in the Potters rather than redeclare and redeclare as Ashley & Richie maybe absent quite a few times as there are a few Sat tracks in PL. Why would you have a no guests rule, in the league, except Res and No. 1 when clearly there are bonifiedy ways round these rules. (This is a genuine observation not an attack an anyone)
  13. You keep up the good work take no notice of anybody else........It's being so miserable that keeps them all going i'm affraid only been a supporter for a couple of years and I have never known a bunch of people like it
  14. I think you mean; 'where can I find where it says that'
  15. Yes it did go ahead, and it turned out to be a resounding win for the KL Lightnings. Thanks to the sterling efforts of Long Eaton Press Officer Nigel Nattras, and our website host Phil Spence, you will find a full report plus heat details on the Long Eaton Invaders website.
  16. It all adds to the exctement
  17. The MDL has 7 teams the AJL has 6 the NJL has 3 or 4 thats(and there are rumblings I think of a SJL) 18ish teams min 4 riders per team. That is 72 riders do you think there are 72 youngsters out there trying to get into speedway. I think you maybe confusing the Junior Championship with the mid 2000's when they couldn't accomodate all riders. If anything these lads you mention will 1) hopefully play their part in getting more teams back and 2 help up and coming riders to find their way and hopefully find the next World Cup winning team. ( I prefer team events to the IND. GP's) If a rookie lines up with MB or LP then it will give them a marker to measure themselves against. In other countries you see top riders ridng agaimst youngsters or juniors against the likes of Davie Watt and Chris Holder it gives the lads something to work towards if you are constantly racing against your own class you never have anything to work towards. It would be nice if the likes of Nicholls, Harris, etc would do ind meetings against the youngsters but I cant see that ever happening. There is a snobery in this country that needs to be brushed off. The only one I know of is the much maligned Woffenden who doesn't seem to care who he goes out with and is seen to be riding against.
  18. Not sure of the relevance of your question. I don't run speedway teams. The thread is called 'concern for the NL'. as it does seem to be struggling to attract support and if it is to remain a semi professional league one would assume it needs to attract a few more. I was questioning the, what seems to be growing golf between the teams with the quote from RG in Backlesses post. I support all NL riders and wish them ALL, the very best. It seems to me it would be better if the league went Amateur and then the questions wouldn't arise but as it is the bread and butter of the riders trying to go PL then that is possibly not the best policy either
  19. To be honest I was just making reference to a RG quote from Backless about wanting to make the league soley developmental. with raw talent which to my mind devides the league even more than it is. As usual I was treated to the usual barage of abuse from the usual suspects so I'm giving this one a miss now. Hopefully it will be a good meeting for you
  20. Maybe the NL isn't the place for the saints although Kings Lynn and Rye House want to bring riders through to they are trying to put competitive sides together and from what has been said on here RG has a completley different agenda. Although I'm sure everyone will support the Saints this year and whsh them all the very best I believe for example their first meeting is at away match Mildenhall and I'm not sure Mildenhall supporters are paying for that kind of entertainment but we will see. It's not just the home fans that are paying to see the Saints but people like Stoke fans are paying to watch them away. One more thing, is there too much pressure being put on Adam and Tom? when they are trying to get the breakthrough they need I know SP wont put them under any presssure but he wont need to they will probably do that themselves Only time will tell hpopefully it will be a good experiment PS before I get Worralls and Birks thrown at me 'again' lets not forget these lads were very accomplished MX riders before making the switch where you line up with 40 oponents and have to gat and race to get anywhere
  21. I did ask the moderators if they could make the NJL & MDL 'pinned' topics (I think they are called now) last year and got no reply so don't hold your breath
  22. These are just some of the sites you can get regular updates; for MDL and NJL not sure about the AJL. http://www.halifaxdukes.co.uk/ http://www.longeatoninvaders.co.uk/ http://www.spensites.co.uk/mvindex.html Theres is a section on the BSPA site now aswell http://www.speedwaygb.co/jlpressreleases.html Can anyone add anymore sites to this?
  23. Interesting you mention sounding desperate!!!!! I don't think the loss of a team should be used to win an argument. I think it is sad particularly for Steve and Graham who put so much into it. No I support all the lads and feel for the ones who aren't progressing for whatever reason. P.s Probably because I know what goes into it........I don't think any one of them is s*** and I resent the comment
