[quote name=Bryn' timestamp='1358587795' post='2237235] It would appear that the Isle of Wight's legendary start marshal "Five Laps Les" has spread his influence worldwide as we've just had a five lapper out there at Kurri Kurri in Oz!!! Meanwhile back on the island, a lot of work has been put into fully refurbishing the Premier Lounge and bar on the first floor of the clubhouse. Chances to see and hear for yourself exactly what has gone on there during the close season come firstly when the club hold their AGM on Saturday Feb 2nd and then at a Quiz Night being staged by the Supporters Club on Feb 12th. All the news etc on the club's official website at: http://www.iowislanders.co Easily my favorite clubhouse/bar of all the tracks i've been to particularly the terrace area

A fight that I din't start. This is a new experience for me
-
Actually I quite like stoke. Although I haven't experienced a power cut. quite like sitting on the grass bank from where you can see all the track although a bit of a trek for coffee and chips I do wish there was an easier way round but you'd get run over by a bike I supose

That only applies to certain teams. A rule should be brought i where everyone can make them up to put everyone on a level playing field !!!!!!!!

Is the PL not a training league for the EL and the EL a training league for National team and National team for GP. It's the law of development world champs that have reached their pinicle the rest are just pure learners. Sorry got my teaching head on now. I believe it depends on the standard of the reserve. Anyhow dipping in and out is no good for development

The 'only here for the beer and might even get a laugh' clique. Generally found slumped on the back straight fence program in tatters To whom The promotion, The team (win or lose), The track, The racing, centre green presenter holds little or no consequence. A gang of 1 basically

Only 2 factions but sadly many 'cliques' !!!!!

So will he hold an ancestral visa(patriality)? which he doesn't need as he is EU citizen and therefore probably no facility to apply for it or a full British passport which I imagine entitles him to a 3.If he is half british should he not be treated as Branford, Morris, Heeps and the like? Which ever way good luct to the lad. -
That isn't quite what they said. They said at the LSSC Xmas bash " Blackbird is in the 1-7 and Leicester have requested a DU rule to be changed at the NL AGM for Kerr to be included in the Lions team so they can't confirm until then his inclusion". I'm not sure what that rule is but that came from co-promoter Alan Jones. Seems to be a bit odd for the NL to be stiffling progress with a DU rule that stops riders progressing.

I'l give you a sensible answer. Lewis Kerr was on track and Lewis Blackbird was present but not on track in addition there was the Worrall's and Birks

Scunthorpe Saints - Not Entering N L 2013 :(

I do feel for RG as he has faced this before but because he has faced this before did he not learn from previous lessons?. I believe MV at the time stated he would not be taking 15 year olds again and here we are having the same discussion. Rider loyalty should be discussed but Team loyalty should form part of that discussion at the end of the day a 15 year old is free to sign for whoever they want to as they turn 16 and it is a risk you take as Stefan Nielson last year and Franklin Howarth and Morris the year before, Why would the riders want to drive past their local track to drive to another track a good hour and a half away. The temptation is too great i'm affraid and why is Greenwood getting all the flack when Max seems to have followed the same path. -

I would say the IOW nurtured him by allowing him to ride in their NL side otherwise I would say other clubs wouldn't know what he could do to to offer him better terms.. 2nd half racing is developmental for the rider but should not in my opnion be a test of a riders ablity as they are often trying new things different lines etc to try and improve on their racing. How far he travels to race is his own choosing many riders is this country have travelled many many miles and many many hours from North to South and vice verse to race the fact Adam crosses the channel is neither here not there really. Asd you say Adam is a free agaent and free to make his own choices and may I just say I wasn't having a go!!!. -

Thank you for clearing that up. I supose if you live close and have an association with Cov then had they have run a NL side there then that would have been where Olly started which is always a consideration. Being contacted and offered more money to ride is my defifnition of being tapped but Adam clearly chose not to -

On the plus side not all riders are the same. I'd put money on Ellis being 'tapped' but he appears to have signed for the I.O.W who I don't imagine pay megabucks. I'd like to think that gratitude and loyalty played a part there but I maybe wrong. -

This is the 3rd time Scunny have had their riders poached in 3 years that I know of where is the rider loyalty Scunny had a good 2 year program and clearly some of the riders saw pound signs over development. I believe that was the reason for Worrall's and Birks older riders but more loyalty. Yr 1 The scunthorpe 3 Yr 2 Nielson Yr 3 ?????. Scunny were well on their way to a championship again in 2013. I know there were other reasons for not runing but if all 7 riders were desperate to come to the tapes I'm sure RG wouldn't have let them down. Hope they do manage it in 2014 which 2013 I suspect is a year to develop riders Amatuer and MDL ready for the saints in 2014. -
North And South Premier League
TMW replied to Eric Parsons's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Would this be 2 home 2 away as if you cut the league in half you end up with half the fixtures!!!!!!! -
Has Franklin got a baby???
-
I do hope you get where you want to be and soon.!!!!!! You all deserve it

It has been said on many occasions that the riders don't do enough to gain valuable sponsorship needed and that casual appeals on FB is not enough. Attending an awards evenings and networking with the fans is certainly a step in the right direction however far you have to travel.

There will be a bond to pay if the Lions promotion fold, I imagine, which in the EL that will be quite high 10's of 1000's?. The promotion can't be let off this just because they have a big fan base and want to progress. lets not forget the fact that the promotion may even have these funds in place already for when the application is lodged

Thanks Jayne.
